Cool, can you get this: EAsy to source here
Roots organic yes. Its a 30 minute trip but i dont mind the drive. Its quite a scenic route. Never looked for the sunshine #4 before. I will have to call the store and ask them.
The FF soils ARE NOT consistent…and usually HOTT, and produce what you are seeing a LOT OF THE TIME. Specially when NOT watered till runoff.
I water till runoff so i must have got a wacky bag like your saying.
If they do not have the Sunshine 4, then get Promix BX…about the same deal.
!/3 roots, 1/3 #4 or BX, 1/3 perlite/////////////////////////actually make it only 25 percent perlite, your not wick feeding but will be top watering right???
ok good deal…you want to keep doing that, good run off too, not a dribble, will keep build ups way down if you do it EVERY time!!!
Correct i top feed. And i know for a fact they have all the different promix stuff.
Would rather use #4 but Promix is just fine…can get the 4 do it, if not the PM BX will work
Call them see what they got
I mix with 5 gallon bucket into a kiddie pool or into a wheel barrow or on to a tarp.
I 5 gallon of #4, 1 5 gallon of Roots, then mix in about 25 percent perlite, to loosen soil and make it wick and drain WELL!!!
When done right will feel like crunchy styrofoam when a handful is squeezed .
Best to mix it, lay it outside to “breath” a few days…then re mix and bring in for use.
Gotta be careful as some of these come with FREE BUGS TOO…WHY i mix it outside, and let it bake in the sun a few days before use.
IF you can $$$$ it, 1 small bag (10-15 pounds) of Worm castings, mixed into 10 gallons of the above mix will help to “set” the mix well, and has long term benny’s too.
It is not 100% you add it, BUT if the $$$ is not an issue, get it(it is pretty cheap)
It helps to bind together the loose soil mixes.
When you are ready we can go on.
Im following and taking notes.
Was hoping @ifish would chime in, but he is not on right now I guess.
Gonna try and teach you ALWAYS FORWARD growing. We always want the plant in a forward direction, with CLEAR signals to it. Never going back a step, never giving the plant mixed signals.
When they start off and in Veg , they want/need high N content. N is what grows leafs, stalks, stems. We want to give her what she needs, when she needs it, and never make her hunt or starve for it.
We feed her every time we water, cause the soil mix you will be making is almost inert, has not much in it, plant will rely upon you to feed her. If you give her nothing, she will starve(or near starve if you use worm castings in the mix) and if you over feed her or give her the wrong food…see your pics above, lol.
What would be better and more consistent, and going forward…hitting the plant with a big dose of feed at 1000 PPM’s once a week…letting her starve the other days??? One day she see’s all manner of food, starts to gobble, next day or two it is gone…! Then she is hunting for food that is not there, a waste of energy.
Would it not be better to give her small low dose (low PPM) feedings on a regular schedule ??? Low slow n steady. She KNOWS it will be there, stays on HER PATH! Imagine in late flower, she is large, in charge, and sucking 2 gallons of water a day. What would be better, more consistent, more ALWAYS FORWARD…once a week WHACK @ 1500 PPM’s or everyday does of 400 ppm??? What do you think the plant will like better???
Hope this is making some sense, it will come to you, and when you see it HAPPEN , you will understand.
So, we are started, have the cuts rooted, and placed into small pots (Dixie Cups) to root well. We have made our inert or near inert mix, and ready to go!!!
Come on @ifish get in here, just saw you look…start 'splanning!!!
Just home from work , I got my ears on : )
Im listening and its makes perfect sense to me.
The Texas Vege Food is as good as it gets! 100% complete, nothing you need to add, NOTHING!!!
It is high in N and has good NPK values too. It will be used from onset till 2.5 weeks into the flip.
When cuts 1st root, and you place into Dixie Cups, 1st water…1/2 teaspoon, TEASPOON, NOT TABLESPOON, forget what the bottle says…1/2 tea per gallon on 1st feeding/watering. From then on, 1 teaspoon per gallon .
You want me to pm you @Grohio ? Or chat on your thread ?
ok, then i will go on:
You will keep hitting her with 1 tea per, every time you water, CONSISTENT, watch them explode in 2 weeks time, you will see it. Water EVERY TIME to run off, and GOOD runoff too, keeps the media clean. NOT so much it wash’s the soil, but water slow and well, till good run off.
Let pots dry to almost “light” before another drink. DO NOT WATER wet soil. We do not want to see wilting, NOT that dry, but pretty light, you got this.
CHAT HERE FISH…your so good at splaining it. lol
Ok : )
From the very start in veg and right through till the third week of flower ( after the main stretch ) we class this as Spring
In spring we are pushing the npk ratio in favor of growing leafs and stems and also building up a bank of n in the leafs for later on in flower , as later on in flower we shall be giving very little n in the ratio as we will be promoting p an k mainly for budding etc
So in spring we like a ratio that is higher in n than p and k
Say 2/1/1 or similar
2/1/1 is the same as 4/2/2 or 20/10/10 or even 38/19/16 roughly speaking
You understand that ? The ratio is the same ( the n to the p to the k )
If mixing in nutes to a gallon of water , to reach a certain ppm /ec , you would put 10ml of 2/1/1 where as if using 20/10/10 then you would only use 1ml
The 20/10/10 is the same ratio as 2/1/1 it’s just 10 times more concentrated
So if a liter of 2/1/1 is 10 bucks and a liter of 20/10/10 is 10 bucks , the 20/10/10 bottle of nutes is better value
