Grove Bags.... Has anyone tried them on a cure?

That’s interesting. Makes sense but still to actually have it proven like that is pretty cool. Their shipping costs are unreasonable. I scrolled down in the shipping options and I could have Fedsux deliver them for $14 and be here in 7 days or $9 for UPS and have them in 5 days  Obviously went UPS because if Fedsux says 7 days that means 10 and instead UPS was a day early for $5 less.

I’ve had the bud on the stems, in the grove bag, for 3-4 days with a calibrated humidity gauge that is off by like 2 points.

It was 69 and now 68. I’m trying notsodogs drying and curing method and those branches may be a little too moist and are overloading the bag’s capacity to remove excess moisture is what I think. I have other smaller bags that have chopped up bud at various humidity levels. Even one wet like this. Im sacrificing some flower just to see what works.
First I think I put the flower in too dry and not long enough. I’ll keep you posted

So I’m going to be using my Grove bags shortly and im terrible scared of over drying bud, I live high plains desert very hot and dry usually. So I am almost positive I’m gonna probably buck, trim, and bag before is below the 65% range. I’ll try to get it right but🤷. So if put in too wet I’ve read I need to “sweat them out” so would just putting in a paper bag for say 12 hours at a time until they hit the ideal rh? Thanks

I was sent some samples roughly a year or so ago to Scotland Uk and I was sent one of each size from an eighth upto the 1 lb bags and I also got a massive tote bag’ - it’s about 3ft long and about 1.5 ft deep. Also got the ‘wicking bag’ - it’s a big see-thru bag about a third of the size of the big massive bag.

I got a window version and a complete black bag of each size. :facepunch:.

Iv used the smaller ones to take bud out with me, though i find im using the bigger bags and getting better results from the big bags than the smaller. If I have a wee plant to chop - i will stick the bud in one of the Oz bags …

I first heard about them last year and I emailed them and asked if they were sending samples and they sent me, i think, x2 each size of bag.

The bigger ones are probably better than the very small ones - from the eighth bag to the Oz bag, i reckon are okay but the bigger ones - two Oz and up, are the best. ( jmo.).

I still use a mason jar or two, for a bit more longer storage as i think it keeps more terps, if you put the bud in at the right time etc. ?!!

But if I wanted more bags I’d buy the two Oz and up bags.
Is the ‘wicking bag’ ( it’s see-through bag ) for when you’re hanging up bud, once it’s dry enough, do you put the ‘wicking bag’ over it, like a cape.?
Anyone who can let me know exactly what the ‘Wicking Bag’ is … if so can you please let me know. Cheers. :+1:

Anyhoo, happy new year to everyone who’s reading this post.

Happy growing too …

I think there’s just a small misunderstanding here, they are actually called “wicket” bags which refers to the wire loop they come on like shopping bags or produce bags at the market. The wicket is the wire. I think they offer those because they’re the most cost effective solution for shipping and distribution or for midsize commercial or collective growers who are on a budget.

I’ve never seen those. I’ll have to check that one out.

The vacume sealer machine needs one side of the plastic bag to be indented with that matrix of dot impressions to properly form the seal or else you will be left cursing and spinning your wheels those grove bags are smooth both sides definitely creates an air problem machine can’t get a bite on that bag Mine won’t work with out them to get a vacume on those bags.It will still seal them just won’t get the air out.

Just dab a little silicone grease on the foam air seal

I was under the understanding the bag needed a certain amount of air to keep the rh correct.
Or was I dreaming that?

I don’t suck out the air of the grove bags I use I only do that for long term storage bags using them I use them just for cure.I just toss my buds in and leave at least a third space of air and I seal up the bag and forget about it forawhile.Better than burping all those goddamn jars .

I haven’t tried it but people have said the bags just let the air back in through the membrane. I’m not convinced that they’re not having the problem @CapnCannabis is, but there’s something to be said about vacuuming the air out and letting the bag filter non oxygenated air back through the walls, as I understand one layer is an directional oxygen permeable one

I had occasion to open up grove bags the other day I hadn’t cracked in awhile and was greeted with the dreaded hay smell HARD. I did not seal them so that could be the difference but I’m going to have to get into the others and see what what. They have been sitting quite some time.

Sealing shouldn’t of made any difference. Had to of got the hay smell prior to the cure.

Just dropped Blueberry muffin. Heard great things. I’m excited. How’s the buzz @ColeLennon ?

Nope. Their website says to leave some room for air in the bag for it to work optimally. I try to fill to about 80%.

I leave air in mine, a little bit. I fold over the excess when putting them back in the weathertite tote.

HSC Blueberry Muffin is a dream to grow. Loves it’s N and balanced PK. My clones, I FIM’d once on July 6th. It’s a quick flower but will keep swelling and seems to stretch forever with donkey kong colas. Dripping with trichs. The terps are beyond this world and true blueberry muffin. 5-star cannabis in my book. It’s the purple panty-dropper in this cross that makes it sing beautifully. My blackberry fire smelled like hay after 2 weeks dry. Straight into grove bags no hay now. I can’t pinpoint the terp scent. It smells like ganga now though.
