Good tip.
Just gotta say, as a lazy grower, I love grove bags. And take up way less room than mason jars when not in use. And I can make bongs from mason jars so no need to throw em all out!
Cold stoping process is good observation. Stuff, molecules, gotta move for the process to work. Slower the molecules, slower the process. Makes sense but didnt think about it that way til you said something @Herbie
We are lucky to live in parts of the country where we can just hang dry our nuggs. I bought a cannatrol-- I was suckered in by the hype–but TBH I cannot stand the taste of quick-dried nuggs that taste like they were bagged too soon… “terp lock” my ass. I wrote to the company a couple times asking for advice because I feel it ruined some really good nuggs (the stuff I just hung in my garage is much tastier, and smoother… I believe because it dried slower), but they have not responded to my emails. I do like the smaller form factor of the Grove bags though, but I am still using jars too… compare and contrast style
I use the 1 oz ounce bags but I treat them just like jars tho. Pros for me are they take up less space than jars , there easier to store, product comes out better and they are cheaper than jars
Last year my hang dry 14 days with just a 6 inch fan blowing in the opposite direction as my colas hangin or in the tier racks out in my shed. Worked killer, It usually gets to the 40’s at night and then up to 60’s during the day. With an almost perfect humidity unless its pouring outside. I then clip the nugs into a basket. Everyday for 3 days I dump the basket into another basket and rotate the nugs. 3 days later right into the 1lb groves. Works like a champ. I will after a week dump them back out into a basket and just make sure nothing is molding and after that check. I just leave them zip locked in the weathertite tote.
I never thought of using those for hauling around nugs and branches.thats a great idea!
A few years ago I accidentally took one home from Walmart, and then accidentally took one from Fred Meyers. Snap. That high price your paying for eggs. Its my fault.
I didn’t steal any bricks though. @Foreigner
It’s a great idea! I just ordered 2.and don’t tell anyone, but I got those home grown eggs if anyone needs any.
I was thoughtful enough to go two different chain stores.
It’s a brick and mortar. Missed opportunity.
Hard to find good bricks these day. Dying breed.
So I’m finally looking at going down the rabbit hole of grove bags but I thought someone mentioned cheaper than jars lol that price sure don’t look like it but I think that’s enough space to store about 12ish lbs
These things are reusable season after season right?
Any reasons I shouldn’t get em and drop that kind of cash on bags?
How do the smaller ones like 8th and quarter do for daily smoking open and closing frequently?
How much would that be in jars for 2 # of storage? Certainly not 12 bucks.
I smoke too much. I get the one oz for daily use and the larger ones for long term and not wear out the seal.
I probably would not reuse them.
I think they could do better with shipping, Im able to buy mine from the hydro shop luckily.
I reuse mine, as long as they aren’t super dirty or sticky.
I use oz bags, the bag I’m currently smoking on gets opened and closed a lot, the zipper is pretty good.
Also try using code “terploc” it should give you 7% off. If it doesn’t work, I’ll go find one that does
I mean it depends on the buds, when it’s nice and chunky and dense I’ve been able to shove 3 oz in a quart jar which would be 2.25 lb in a case of em and mason jars come in handy in general lol
It’s the not having to burp em that’s appealing to me and mason jars doesn’t always seem to trap the humidity completely imo
That’s a bummer to hear on the not suggested to reuse, feel like that’s a good chunk to spend for 1 and done
@HomegrownVABudz I actually found a 10 buck off order coupon but was giving me error code at the end so I called them and they got a hold of their IT department and made me a new one that works customer service is on point with these guys
My only issue with their prices is the rob you with shipping charges. The Grove Bags themselves are pretty cheap.
Ya the 30 in shipping def seemed steep for sure but figured the 10 buck off coupon offsetted it a lil. Got about 12 lbs of coverage on its way for 127 out the door
20 1/4 oz (5oz)
16 1/2 oz (8oz)
16 1 oz (1 lb)
10 1/4 lb ( 2.5 lb)
10 1/2 lb (5 lb)
2 1lb( 2lb)
So total is actually 11 lb 5 oz
Sure hope it was worth it!
I have re-used them with no problem other than some of the odor from the previous use transferring to what was just put in.
On my next harvest I plan to use some diluted ISO to clean one of my 1/4 # bags before refilling it with freshly dried bud. Hopefully that will help. I plan to order more bags in the near future so I can use them for long term storage as well as the cure.
That’s good to know, I guess when logically u put it in perspective of the amount of weight it’s protecting, just another investment I suppose for extending shelf life, this is prob one of my better years growing I’ve had since about 2 years ago so def wanna keep this stuff as fresh as possible
Last season I just uses the vacuum sealer. I just opened one and set a hygrometer in and it went to 51 rh. Still great smells and taste of the buds. I only let it run until it pulls most air out and then seal.
