Growing Trees with Meesh 2021

So I’m also trying to quit smoking, unsuccessful I might add, my uncle told me about a book ( I no I no) so I ordered the book in October haven’t read it much but I’m planning on finishing it soon they tell u not to quit till the end supposed to help u look at quiting differently. It’s called the easy way to quit smoking by Alex Carr they have a few different versions figured I’d give it a try it did help my uncle quit he wasn’t a heavy smoker tho just wanted to pass it along hope it helps me quit once I finish reading the damn thing ugh

 I hope it doesn’t have the opposite effect.

Long ago… when I quit (before restarting) I realized I had to DEMONIZE the shit…to form a new conscious hatred of a cigarrette… to see it as an enemy that’s been hurting me. That helped then.

:+1:

:evergreen_tree: Quitting’s for winners? WTF!?! :trophy:

I wish I could give up eating so much as easy as when I quit smoking . I used to blame my weight gain on when I quit smoking but that was over forty years ago and I’m still fat .

I had quit for a week shy of 2 years before I took up smoking again in a desperate attempt to guilt my late wife into quitting, it didn’t work and I ended up getting hooked again fairly quickly.

Once I got my shit sorted out and de-stressed I gave them up again.

I quit for 20 years, started up again last year. In my case it turned out that cigarettes are far more effective antidepressants than antidepressants are.

Same for me. I already hated myself for smoking and I had to learn to hate cigarettes, the industry that designed them to make them the most addictive they could and in the end all smokers (sorry :stuck_out_tongue:). That did it for me. Allen Carr helped with that too.

Sorry to burst people’s bubbles but like weed, its only a habit formed psychological addiction.

There are no physical addictive substances in tobacco. Its Big tobacco spreading lies to stop people quitting.

If you believe you are addicted then you believe it will be difficult. When really its just association to things you do.

Start thee car light a cigarette, have a coffee light a cigarette, finish your meal have a cigarette.

These are programs you’re unconscious minds creates so it can get on and learn new stuff.

If they were addictive they would operate in the same way other addictive substances do.

You would have to increase your dose on a regular basis. Most people get to a pack a day and no more all their life.

You would wake up several times during the night to top up the addictive chemical.

Does anyone smoke 8+ cigs in the morning to top up their addictive chemicals in cigs, no.

When quitting, does anyone go through the time table of withdrawal symptoms for addictive drugs. Itching, nausea, vomiting, hot and cold flushes, goose bumps.

Most just get grumpy and because they are ignoring the psychological program they created, it will keep reminding them to complete the program whenever the association is used. Start the car have a cigarette.

Some people can build and break associations easier than others. Mostly it is a distraction from your internal anxiety, the more internal anxiety you have the more you are likely to smoke if a smoker. Why people will smoke more when stressed.

Hope this helps you break your smoking habits.

The heavy smokers that I’ve known who have been most successful quitting smoking all quit cold turkey and had some sort of moment of clarity that flipped their brain switch somehow. I too have had these moments in my life at times. However, I have yet to have one with the smokes.

I can say that I recently had one regarding dieting and my sugar and wheat addictions. Off and on since 30 I have lost and gained weight and had to go on diets only to hard time it, feel miserable and deprived. Usually I have succeeded even in my misery, but with a shit attitude only to stop and gain it back plus some and have to go through it all again. This time around, although pushing 50 this time and the diet is for health reasons and not vanity, I had a strange moment of clarity that completely changed how I feel about my diet this time around. I’m not saying that it is suddenly easier, but something changed in the way I deal with it. Oddly enough, I think it was a commercial of all things. One simple little thing that has made it easier to stay on course. Instead of saying “I can’t have that”, I say “It doesn’t fit into my goal right now”. Trite, I know, but for some reason it spoke to me. It somehow makes me feel more powerful and in control instead of deprived. A choice instead of a punishment. Unfortunately, it’s not working with the cigs. So, I keep hoping something like that is gonna click and I find that moment of clarity that helps. Btw… I keep failing at the smoking, but I’m happy to say that I lost 25 pounds recently. At least I can boast one accomplishment right now and I haven’t had any sugar or flour in 4 months.

Haven’t had any rice, pasta, potatoes or corn either. I only still miss the bread in all it’s forms. It’s hard to believe that I don’t miss french fries and sugar. I mean hell, they are like the holy grail for fat people! :joy::joy::joy: I’m being silly, it’s surprising how easy it really is to satisfy your sweet tooth with sugar substitutes. Flour, however is a bitch and a half. lol

I’m trying to lose a few pounds started hiking more and protein shakes but they have sugar . Trying not to eat anything that taste’s good lol . I quit smoking cold turkey when I was young never picked one up again . I was hiking and out of breath and started to light up but crumbled the pack up and tossed . That was over 40 years ago . If I can just toss this fat body I could sure feel it out hiking above `7000 feet a few days ago .

Its not trite, its very important. Re framing the intent of what you are doing in a positive way is a great way to help complete a change in behaviour.

When you use these words I can’t, I don’t, it fails, Your mind is a creating tool, these negative words are not creating the desired effect, because your mind does not know how to, not do something only how to do something. So it will edit the instruction that is negative out and you end up doing exactly what you dont want to do.

Its called Neurolinguistice Programming. Internal dialog is very important, you should always state what you want as the end scenario in a positive framing in the now not future.

For example, I am free of the desire now to smoke cigarettes. I am a non smoker now and forever. Cigarettes are no longer a part of my life now. I am happy that I am free of any desire to smoke as my health is now getting better and better.

The main thing is finding a driver to change your desire, My wife smoked a pack a day, when we wanted to start a family, I said, no babies until you stop smoking, she stopped withing 4 weeks, her desire for children was stronger than her desire to smoke.

Like you I have had weight problems all my life. The only time I was happy was when I was weight training 12 hours a week, and doing martial arts 8 hours a week, getting very fit and muscular, I could burn a lot off calories easy, in fact it was hard to get enough in my body, needing 5,000 a day to stay as was.

The problem was when the training stopped. I once again ballooned up and yo yo dieted for the last 30 years. I have now found the easiest way to lose weight and like you its for health reasons. I have told myself that if I carry on as is I will be in a lot of trouble in the next 10 years.

I am a chocoholic, addicted to sugar, and refined carbs. I tried intermittent fasting but it was not enough as I was still eating a lot of carbs. I found this Doc on youtube, he is brilliant, he explains everything so well, in an easy to understand way, he understands everyone is different and gives you the tools and info to adapt to your own way of doing things in the best way for you.

I was amazed at how much carbs are in things and also that protein will cause insulin responses as well as carbs if to high and the less insulin resistance you have the faster you can lose weight. My main goal is lowering insulin resistance and blood pressure, the weight loss is a great by product but goes hand in hand with insulin problems.

I started this method 3 weeks ago, last weekend I came of my blood pressure meds as it had dropped so low I was getting dangerously dizzy every time I bent down and stood up. My BP is still around 110/75 after a week of no meds. I am 61 and 6ft 4ins tall and today was 274lbs, I was 298 pounds 3 weeks ago, and now averaging 3/4 to 1 pound a day loss in weight, by having less than 30 grams of non refined carbs a day, and only eating between 4.30 pm and 6.30 pm. I have actually raised my calorie intake this week but its not made much difference to the loss, and I do no exercise other than walk the dog half a mile a day very slowly as her hips are bad. Intermittent fasting does not have to be in such a close window as I have it but the longer you can go after 14 hours the more your body will adapt and burn calories as you switch from a carb burner to a fat burner.

Here is a link to this Doc if you want to check him out he has loads of vids, this one is intermittent fasting mistakes.

I have been on keto since Feb 1st. I was doing intermittent fasting daily and even with ridiculous amounts of water, electrolytes and Himalayan salt I was having really bad hypoglycemic episodes which is crazy because fasting is supposed to be great for insulin resistance. I started carb cycling on the weekends adding only whole grains and fruit and low fat. Weekdays, strict keto. I’ve stopped IF and so far feel much better. No more dizzy spells, confusion, spots in my vision etc… Dad has controlled his type 2 for 20 years on keto. I was talking to him yesterday about why I’m having these terrible spells. He said, Kid (ha, I’m 49), I think all this weird shit is because of your premenopause. I believe he is right on the money. Us women, go through so much shit. Ugh! Anyway, I feel much better after stopping the fasts and carb cycling, thank dog. The weight loss slowed down over a month ago, but it’s still happening. It just doesn’t keep melting off like it did in the beginning. It’s a process. Just stay away from refined sugar, flour and high fructose corn syrup and all the weight will eventually come off.

Anyway, got off track there… back to my grow.

Dad was here again yesterday and all of the framework is complete for the bug enclosure. Now, we are literally sewing the ag net together. We have a handheld sewing machine and so far, we got two pieces sewed together.

Now picture this… we need a giant piece of ag net. 40x40… and we never could get a price quote for a solid custom piece. So we have 4 10x30 foot pieces and another 10 foot piece we need to add to the 30 feet at the end of all of this. Now mind you this stuff is some sort of plastic so it’s fairly slippery. I didn’t realize how long 30 freaken feet is! Holy crap! It took us about 2 hours just to lay out 2 pieces and fold them in a way that we could sew them together and sew them. These 2 pieces stretched all the way inside the garage and halfway down my driveway. We still have to sew 2 more together, attach them to the one we just did then attach the bottom piece. These plants are gonna show me sex within the next few weeks. So I have a lot of work ahead now. As ground time is rapidly approaching. I also have to get the patch tilled again for the final time and leveled so Dad can set up the trellises and infrastructure for the net. Dad borrowed a sweet leveling tool from his buddy which is awesome. Gonna save me time there. I also need to get the companion plants in the ground. It’s gonna be interesting when it’s time to get the sewn together ag net actually put up. That’s gonna be a bitch, but Dad has some plan formed. Whew! This will be interesting to say the least. lol.

So, remember the pic of the tilled patch a few weeks ago? This is how bad my bermuda grass is… I took this pic 5 minutes ago. For anyone who doesn’t understand why no-till doesn’t work in this part of my garden lol
