Growing Trees with Meesh 2021

Dad knows his limitations when it comes to other people and projects he can undertake. However, I think when it comes to me, he never wants to say no and disappoint me. I’m his baby and only child and have always been Daddy’s Girl and he would walk through fire covered in gasoline for me. I realize this and really need to thing things through before I ask him for certain things at this point in both of our lives. It’s gonna be tricky, Dad’s always been my hero. Something breaks, I need something done on the house, if i have an emergency, basically anything. Just one of those moments of clarity today. Denial can be very powerful.

I get what you are saying and can relate in some ways. My father was a big guy, a union rep and an icon in my life. Unfortunately he has passed now but I remember him pushing too hard and not really understanding until I got older. It can be a tough road to hoe. The fact is that you got a ton of love in that relationship and even if it has to cross a couple difficult rivers in the end it will be good. You are lucky to have each other.

Sadly I inherited some bugs and don’t want to send you a plant with problems , I feel horrible sense I promised you one but I haven’t got rid of them completely yet and most likely won’t be making a trip down south till July which is kinda late to throw one outside.

It’s all good, my friend. I planned my grow, never counting on it a sure thing, because I know that life happens. When you travel down to my neck of the woods, be sure to let me know though, so we can smoke a doobie and I can share some of my goodies with you.

Hope this flower pic helps brighten your day @Meesh

I’m also an only child (always wished I had siblings tho). I love that you and dad work on projects in the garden together, dont over think what happened yesterday yes you yelled out of love and concern and I’m sure he understands,he probably got scared almost falling and yelled back out of embarrassment. Glad he’s ok and the AG net seems to be coming right along can’t wait to see it all assembled

This is the first peach color zinnia I’ve gotten hoping it stays this color

Happy growing :seedling:

Good morning! None of the remaining 12 showing me anything again today. I’m certain some of you experts could sex them at this point with the loupe, but I can’t yet. I need them to be a lot more obvious.

It was drizzling a bit ago and looking pretty gray outside. I haven’t checked the weather report, but I think that drizzle was all we are gonna get. Let’s hope so, because I’m pretty sure I’m going to start digging holes for some of the girls and put them in the ground today. Just a note… the Sour Dubbs smell amazing!

Now for today’s flowers, since it seems most of you really dig them

First Coreopsis this year

Some glads and Shastas cuz they rock

Alright 4 plants went to ground. Sour Dubb, Sunshine Daydream, Azad Kashmir and Cheese.
You don’t realize how big a hole is from a 2 gallon pot until you have to dig them with a hand trowel. Since the trellises are up first this year, I couldn’t get in there with a shovel

You guys I’m slightly worried about the Kashmir. It’s planted a tad too deep. Her first branches are actually flush with the dirt. Do you think it’s gonna be a problem?

I don’t think it’s an issue, I’d personally cut whatever branches are close to the soil and throw some mulch around the base to stop any dirt splashing up the stem or leaves when watering…this can cause issues otherwise I’m sure your good to go:) :call_me_hand:t4:

Yeah 2nd that… not an issue … looking good over there

So, I have outside clients scheduled until about 2pm all week. This morning, there was the usual check in with my man. I had mentioned that Dad was coming to work on the trellises and structure and that I had work. Well, when I got home, both of them were out there and the structure was 3/4 complete. I had no idea my man was coming, I actually teared up. He says, well I was off today and I wasn’t gonna let Dad be up and down those ladders all day by himself. Dad was stoked because together they finished it. He thought he was gonna come back 3 more days this week (including Sunday when the net goes up) because he would mostly be alone while I was at work for most of the day. Plus he said, that they got more done than if I would have been his helper. lol I’m not offended. I know I’m a girly girl.

@Budafly Loving all the colors!

@Joker It really does! Words and even that one section of net that I took a pic of just couldn’t describe the monstrosity that is the net. It’s beastly. I couldn’t even picture how big it was until we unrolled one section and that was already ridiculous! All I can say is “Screw you Caterpillars!”

You have a good guy for doing that. I would give just about anything to work on just one more project with my late FIL. Those moments are special.

Sorry for getting all sappy on ya!
