October marks the end of my annual seed popping hiatus, which runs July through September. I do this to synchronize the timing of my refrigerator drying cycles of fresh bud to not interfere with my wife’s need to use the lab fridge for baking and cooking storage during the holidays. Long story short, I skunked a bunch of homemade pies last year at Thanksgiving and the wife was…displeased.
At any rate, October 1st is a pretty good day around here!
Shout out to @hoss8455 for providing the Truck stop Diner (Motorbreath 15 x Cheddar Skunk 11) genetics. I am on the hunt for keeper females.
2 parts fresh chlorinated water and 1 part h2o2…
Welcome to my GrowLab! Let’s do this thing!

Marriage is all about compromise! Maybe this thanksgiving y’all should do a pie that uses cannabutter or something as a team project.
Congrats on the end of the hiatus! I hope the new seeds flourish. I went with a 3:1 h2o:h2o2 when I started mine, and since I’ve started 2 seeds ever and both sprouted, I can confirm a 100% personal success rate with that approach.

She’s a great trimmer, a good smoke tester, and cooks like the devil. She was disappointed in the pies but I’d be expensive to divorce after 37 years, so she let it slide
Seeds are hitting the paper towels tonight. I can see some are already cracked and ready to sprout.

12 of 12 Truckstop Diner popped, and we’re off to an excellent start! More on them as they get closer to sexing.
In the meantime, how about a beautiful Purple Punch S1 headed for the fridge dry? Light green, dark green, and orange. Just beautiful.
Thanks for checking in

The Truck Stop Diner seedlings are at day 21 and humming right along. Most have been topped and trimmed to fit in a crowd. Preflowers should start showing in a week or so. Once sex is determined, the females will double up in one gallon pots and veg until they reach 12 inches. No special treatment for noobies around here.
The flower tent is pretty empty aside from the Garfunkle twins. Clones in one gallon pots that were flipped at 12 inches, these ladies are on day 15 of bloom and stacking nicely. Unlike the initial run, the twins want to grow wide, not tall.
More updates as the TSD’s start showing sex!

While we’re waiting for the Truckstop Diner seeds to figure out their sex, let’s turn our attention to Freeborn Selections CherryWest BX4.
I count 15 seeds. Generosity correlates with quality? Hmm.
Everybody in the pool.

The Truckstop Diner’s took a loooong time to show presex and as a result, were thoroughly stress tested in solo cups. We’re good on stability. Now they graduate to a one gallon, two to a pot. The hard part is over and they seem to enjoy the rest of the ride. Did I mention that they’re already covered in trichomes and stink robustly?
Here’s 4 of the 5 ladies I’ve found so far, with one more still a maybe:
Most of them have a really cool root/rootball thing going on:

It’s a rough life haha.

Nice man. What did you think of the Garfunkle smoke? I’m holding a pack.

Nice plants, easy growing, lots of females. I had one that leaned hard to the dumpster side and she stood out as an obvious keeper. Good buzz, nice smoke, definitely worth my time, I would recommend

Truckstop Diner update:
8 of 12 ended up being female, continuing my streak of female heavy seed germination (jinx haha). 4 of 8 plants in 2 pots below are at day 15 and 12 of flower and have responded beautifully to life outside the solo cup and a rigerous trim. Initial impressions are favorable with regard to genetics, but the proof is ultimately in the flower, and these babies will easily provide quality testing samples without overwhelming me with ‘meh’ weed.
Now things start to get interesting!

Garfunkle really filling out and fading. I’ll harvest when she finishes sometime after Christmas.
You guys should see the Truckstop Diner plants! Next time!

Last night I pulled the Truckstop Diner’s (8 girls in 4 pots) out for a light defoliation and discovered 3 plants had a serious case of the balls! Down low on all three. Yikes. A couple of the flowers were open as well. Double yikes. Here’s hoping the pollen is sterile and the remaining 5 girls didn’t get knocked up. Time will tell. The remaining plants look really nice too, so I’m remaining hopeful.
Merry Christmas everyone! I hope Santa brings you everything you asked for.

Harvested the Garfunkle last night @ 75 days. This one reeks of funk and Flintstones chewable vitamins!
Thanks to both of the people who followed my progress this year
To those folks and everyone else… Happy New Year!

I forgot I promised to update the Truckstop Diner status and share pictures…
Left to right: 4, 3, and 2 weeks into flower.
The height discrepancy is bit counterintuitive if you ask me, but it seems the phenotypes are already showing. These 5 ladies are passing the daily ball checks with flying colors. I think it’s gonna be okay
Happy New Year!

Two more Truckstop Diner plants showed balls today, leaving 3 female plants, and that’s all I’m going to say about that.
Let’s cleanse the pallette, shall we? Below pictures are some of my oldest seeds, and ones I made to boot. These are Cannacopia Chocolate Chunk* (Deep Chunk x Chocolate Trip) F2’s I made in August of 2012. I pollinated two plants and only got 15 off this one, plant A.
*Cannacopia changed the name after I purchased them, so I’m sticking with the OG name haha.
Let’s take these tiger-striped beauties for a swim!
Happy New Year!

Now that the holidays are over, I can start to mentally process my Black Friday haul. I’m very lucky to have access to such fine genetics.
That’s it for awhile. Seed diet time.

Slightly off topic, but I also grow orchids. Another rewarding plant that’s somewhat difficult to grow.
Chocolate Chunk updates coming soon!
