Hamme Hydro's OG Phototopic

It absolutely does mean you’re more reliant on the pump. 4 times a day isn’t enough imo. Whilst you’re establishing roots in pots. Yes its acceptable. In bloom you want to at least double that. Even every hour for say 10-15 mins a time when lights on. (Even with sonoff basics I should only be able to do 8x floods a day. Which is tempting me to use an ordinary segment timer. And use the channels on the 4ch in conjunction with th16s to control temps/humidity instead.

I wouldn’t recommend using clay pebbles as a wicking media at any point. Needs to be full saturation.

LED can be an absolute PITA to get right. Especially early stages. I usually start on fully dimmed lights

Apparently i was on the right track since i flooded every hour with the light on in the end. Flooding that often is not desirable to me and it makes me wonder is dwc not more practical than? I guess the clay pebbles just aren’t for me. With rock wool flooding once or even every other day during bloom is fine. During veg flooding every two days is plenty.

I would say you was on the right track yeah mate. It may not be for you. I like the rapid growth you get though. I like to be able to go away for a few days and know everything is okay too. Which I suppose you could argue was the same in DWC.

Maybe try again knowing what you know now? Or better still. How do you fancy swapping methods for a run? We can decide beans between us and run the same? Start the same time. Make sure lights are dimmed to the same yadda yadda

It’s a nice idea to swap methods but i’ve just started two fresh rounds on rock wool and using clay pebbles means i will have to grow very low because i have a small water tank. With rock wool you also have quick growth, you just don’t have to water that often to keep it wet.

The seedlings on clay pebbles are growing like mad!!

‘Clay pebbles? Are you nuts?’ The rock-wool underneath replied.
‘You might rock but you never roll!’
‘Think your pretty sharp but i beat scissors every time!’

So i say come on guys stop!!
The wool with rock beneath and the nuts stay on top!

The plants are thriving on rock wool.

I want to top the plants at a certain node so that they will all have the same amount of branches. Which node i have yet to decide, probably the third or the fourth. And i will thieve all the twigs that only use energy.

The three cuts i will probably have to treat differently, but they also have to provide me with new clones.

Okay i will do that! I have little to no experience with trimming. But if i am correct when i am done all plants have six branches. Right?

Trimming day comes neigh which i hate because it exposes the lazy grower in me!

Plus i hope i don’t f it up and it becomes fimming!!

I wanted to start thieving but cannot decide where to start. So i removed some leafs in order to see better. But i still cannot see what to remove. Can anybody please advise me? And is it already time to top?

Hi bro they do look healthy wow

I normally remove the bottom 2 nodes
But i wait till the plant reaches 5 or 6 nodes before I top . I’ll top at the 3 node leaving me a solid trunk to build on
Its more of a mainline structure , then I’ll top the new growth when they get to 5 nodes and again I trim it down to the 3 node if you follow me
It takes a little longer to recover but I grow big plants with my Octopots and they seem to support the growth well

Hope this helps

I love your set up brother
Not sure if my method jives with yours

Ok I stopped my self from rambling on and on
I’m too hi for 7 am on my side of the pond lol
