Note that up to this point i’ve dimmed the lights to 215 watts. Since the lamp has the same footprint as my 4 x 4 tent, i hung it as low as possible to the canopy to create a high light intensity at a low wattage. If this works it means more weed per watts, which is always welcomed by me.
Thus far the plants show no signs of light deficiency, which kinda surprised me. I had expected them to grow into the lamp as light hungry seedlings but they didn’t. Instead they stay stocky and have developed thick stems, exactly what we want to achieve and the amount of wattage seems to contribute the most to it. Or so i have always believed. But the longer i grow, the more i start to see that light intensity is more important than amounts of watts. And increasing the wattage is - with lamps that have the same footprint as the grow room - no longer the only way to achieve that. Being it the first time i try this i am a bit hesitant to keep the watts at 215 during flowering or increase it like 25% more. What do you guys think?
hi hamme, looking good as always nice and healthy plants bro.
in matters of light,i suggest, that you get a par meter or photon app for iphone or andriod.
that will stop playing guessing games with par levels and wattage.
i was amazed how different the par can be on the same position of the poti.
I wish it was that simple bro, but i don’t have a smartphone and a par meter is too expensive for me atm! But you are absolutely right! Perhaps i should just rob a bank! Or get a smartphone? No i am too dumb for that!
I’ve transplanted the twelve best performing cuttings to crates. Not all twelve are up to par, but if needed i can accomplish this grow with nine plants only.
I’ve flooded the seedlings this morning (Ec + calmag 2.1 and pH 5.5) and hung the lamp a fraction higher. To compensate i increased the wattage to 245 watts.
The seedlings have had their first night of 12/12.
I’ve filled up the tank with some fresh tap water and flooded. Since there was a little too much grow nutriment in the tank i only added cal mag and pH minus naturally. Furthermore i slightly increased the wattage to 250 watts.
I read a great argument on this forum that you gotta increase the wattage after flip to compensate for the lack of hours. So i am increasing the wattage some more today to try to get the same light intensity in 12 hours as 215 watts for 18 hours. The lamp burns at 250 watts as we speak so i will turn it up to approximately 300 watts today. Since i will also higher the lamp a bit it certainly won’t be too much.
And i am saving for a parmeter as we speak, any advise on one that i can use without a smartphone is greatly appreciated. Here come the photo’s of today, the second or third day of 12/12.
Hi Hamme , you plants look nice and healthy .
the wattag,e seems pretty high, to me but yeah your plants are happy, so what do i know
SpotOn Quantum PAR Meter is a good option i think . at least not to expensiv
or if price does not meter i would go for that one
Apogee MQ-500 Full Spectrum Quantum Meter.
no not to much could be more for the footprint! but at the beginning or better after the flip lets say first 3 weeks trough the strech they dont need that much light when you look at dli. im on 3X3 ten with a 300 watt led at the beginning in the first weeks im around 50% light intesity and then going higher as needed weekly. at first the wattage for the stage they are appeard high.
is you light diy or a normal one
but without the numbers it`s all just guess work.
your plants are looking superb so all
