Hash Making Revisited

The initial application of the heat probably changed it’s consistency. I find once it’s pressed it won’t dry in the freezer.

I know it’s prolly making you grit your teeth looking at this hahaa
Consistency Like a tootsie roll …
Kinda nice be able to roll out a hash worm and make a herb sandwich . Smokes pretty good that way just made a test smoke …when it continues to dry will it get rock hard ??. is it dry enough as is ?.should I cap ,cool, chill in the fridge…?..
"Any more questions "

Was this batch from fresh frozen, or from dried?? My last batch turned a nice light brown color after sitting in the freezer for a few weeks, but my mistake was I didn’t thin it out to dry properly in the freezer. What I would be worried about is that yours still has moisture in it, and could possibly mold.
The last batch I did is like packed sand, when you break it apart, you can literally feel the trichomes like grains of sand. It smokes awesome and everyone at my shop bugs me daily for more, kinda like crack fiends.

Just leave it out on a piece of parchment until it finishes drying.

Hey @JoeCrowe !

I swear I read a post of yours a LONG TIME AGO that described making hash out of dry-powdered material by soaking the mass in ice-water where the trichs sank to the bottom of the container and the plant material floated.

If I’m not cray-cray and it was you, can you confirm if this makes sense?

1: 5 gal aquarium filled with water/ice
2: seed run veg/trich dust

Combine 1+2 and using a hand-mixer agitate the mass for about 10min and then walk away for an hour.

After time period lapses allowing for the material to separate, I scoop off the floating veg mass and then siphon off the bottom the sunk trichs via a small hose directly into my bubble bags.

Thanks for any/all input everyone reading this as I got 3 years of seed dust in a bin I need to deal with already

@Pigeonman the vibration tech with your remaining liquid gold might be good for you after the wash , to help up the quality
: )

can you elaborate @ifish ?

When you put your liquid gold puddle on a sheet and add vibrations
The trichs sink further and the contaminates stay more grouped on surface of puddle , to be easier removed / separated once dry

I think if puddle on slight gradient when vibration occurs , it might be even better separation

I’m just shooting the breeze tho

Best ask joe to be sure : )

Might work well for your situation

@Pigeonman

Like speaker type vibrations : )

There’s gotta be a use for this lol

I’ve been seeing static tech come up I think there’s a company doing it large scale too, for dry sift

Maybe there’s a way to just use a balloon lol, rub it on your head, then pick up keif off the sound plate lol

What I did was take the mass of seeded buds and run it through a screen so I had the seeds and a pile of duff. Then I took the duff and did a bubblehash run. I think it was part of my original test of frenchy’s soaking the plant material idea. It was in the original thread “my bubble hash making tech” before I was even making live extracts.

lol, yah that about sums it up.

Wow I didn’t have a microscope camera and I was missing huge portions of research. I hadn’t even come into contact with hashish legends yet at the contest. Oh my!

How many hot knife rips were you taking then? Your lungs must be pretty happy

lol! I must have sucked back so much formaldehyde from thermal decomposition. The terp slurper kicked their ass. I’ve got all my hot knife paraphernalia resting on the shelf on the wall. I won’t be using them again!
It was quick and easy to use, but really hurts your lungs.

My aunt amoked tons of hot knifed hash in the 80s and 90s. Classic red hot knives between the rings of a old stovetop or a blow torch. I was telling her about the offgassing and things that would come off knives then and her face dropped and got all serious. “Whats all this now?!”

People didnt really even think about the health risks lol.

It was the guy giving out dabs at the contest last year, who told me it was nasty. When he asked me what kind of rig I used on the rosin, I told him hot knives and he said I was ruining it. OF course then I won that crazy dab rig and put the terrible hot knives behind me. I can’t even imagine still using those things. It really did make it taste like shit. I’ve got a backup rig that’s red eye glass, but that chinese shit doesn’t compare to the custom glass from Wildfire.

So you are saying for smoking just hash dab rig is the way to go good to know. Now to my question I have dried ice hash and was curious about pressing some with warm water to decarboxylate it for a stonier high. I have read that pressing dry ice hash ruptures the intact resin heads that can degrade it. Is there a noticable “high” difference between pressed and unpressed?

Sounds like nonsense to me. Thermo decarboxylation takes more than warm water in a wine bottle. I think that’s something frenchy did, so people do it. I just use the heat of my hand to melt the hash into a puddle. Trust me, that’s not thermo decarboxylation either.
