Hash Making Revisited

Don’t you ever have any inclination towards an aged product? It’s a lil weird, lol :v:

Well shit…I guess I should have looked into micron info a bit more. I figure the higher you went, the smaller the holes got…but it’s opposite. Well, I already have the 120, so will make some dry sift for now.

Should I go lower? Like 90 micron? I usually grow Indica dominant plants.

micron is actually the rejected american slang for micrometer μm. It’s 1000th of a millimeter. If you have some high tech gadgets like a digital microscope, then you can measure the trichomes and determine which size they actually are. Most are >90μm, but I’ve personally had some with 65μm ones.
Now… when you are talking “mesh size”… which nobody is, then larger number means more holes per inch. So then the larger the number, the smaller the holes. Except… that measurement would be meaningless unless you convert it to microns/μm.

There it all is. Once in a while I take some and look at it under the microscope. There’s more of that shit, but it’s all just experimental, and not for human consumption.

With mesh, don’t you need to take into account the width of the filaments to calculate the actual openings?

You just look it up on a chart that tells you the conversion. hah hah I personally stay away from something that uses mesh for measurement.

You will NOT be disappointed, take a look at my thread “Cannatrol Owners”
Read and see, there were a couple on the fence, purchased one, and very happy with their purchase.
Granted, it’s a fairly large expense, but, in my world, worth every penny.

When I do bubble I use 220 120 73. The small the number the tighter the mesh is so it collects finer pieces yes. A lot of people don’t use the 25 because it takes so damn long for the water to drain more time draining the 25 then the whole rest of the process almost. Other than that I’d say play with them a bit or run half a batch through each one to see which gives you what you are looking for side by side.

I like to use all the bags if its my first run with the cultivar, get a decent representation of what to expect.

Sometimes we like to do full spec runs where we only use 25 45 190 220. But yes, that 120 and 73 are usually the ones. Every here and there you might have a batch that sets something nice in the 90

I only use the 220 and the 90 bag.

Everything under that can be collected and used for edibles, tinctures, gel caps, balsm etc.

You washing only flower or whole plant?

How should I dry without a freeze dryer? I know this has most likely been answered a dozen times above but I am a shit researcher.

The freeze dryer is what made me start dealing with water hash again. Been a complete game changer for me. Before that I used to break my hash apart as it dries into smaller and smaller cumbs throughout the day for however long it took. Microplane tek worked for me until I started working with greasy plants

Make a really thin layer, or really small pieces and put that on parchment then a metal cookie sheet uncovered into the freezer.

The really gooey ones you can float the trichomes out in a shallow pool of water.
I cut down my entire crop and make bubble hash .

Just the thought of it has me smiling  lol

Additionally, I genetically select my plants for hash productivity. My best produces 30 grams per kilo of 90 micron hash. My worst is 18 grams per kilo. Usually I flush the other grades down the drain. I’ve kept some of the other micron hashes for experimental purposes, but I never dab it. Last run I Kept the 73 micron for rosin making, but I usually toss it.

Toss it this way joe.
My most recent batch had some great 120 micron, really good stuff. You would at least say there is some treasure hidden in the dross

What do you call those thermoters people use to see how hot their banger/terp slurpers are? Hoping to get one for black Friday.

There’s the octave terp timers and the dab rites. Probably just under 200 bucks for those things!
