Hash Making Revisited

I think the darker area is where the terpenes have gathered. That’s the sense I get from looking at other batches!

I’m not sure. The darker areas are where the vac seal didn’t totally get all the air out along the edge of the hash. To me it looks like the hash when I put it in the refrigerator without vac sealing. I’m guessing the darker part will be the usual crumble consistency. The light part I’m interested to see. Still haven’t opened it. No way of properly ingesting it at the moment.

Beautiful thread, you guys are proper artists and hash makers !!

I love hash, I always preferred hash I really need to up update my game with all your super techniques . I’ve had rosin before but I just prefer hash !

Thank you for sharing your experiences ! Beautiful stuff @JoeCrowe man that’s art !

Thanks for the props! You can manufacture bubble hash that is as good if not better than, rosin. I think the most important part is genetically selecting for hash producers.

Indeed .
From what I’ve read here and experienced, the start material is crucial.

I’ve made bubble hash, old school dry hash only from brick weed (sativa seedy African type weed) … While the results were interesting, potent and that, it is nowhere close to the clean results you get with the right hash producers (like you mentioned) that are mind-blowing !
And with the right techniques, the crystalized result you manufactured is visually incredible !

As for rosin, I thought it was supposed to be superior than hash in terms of potency ? I don’t have easy access to those types of extractions. I love seeing the latest/newest ways of making hash, like cold curing for example.

What would be your personal genetic selection for hash production ?

So far I’ve got Big bud, and GojiOG, as well as IPW plant. Big bud is the prize winner, so it’s preferred over the others, but… I haven’t tried the others in a contest yet
The rosin is supposed to be more potent than the hash because the impurities like waxes are removed. The reality is though, that I murdered the competition at the contest and if it was me VS the world I would have defeated the rosin entries as well based on the pure numerical value of the score assigned to my extract.

Thank you for your answer !

I didn’t know those strains. They got a very high THC content, GojiOG seems to be a very interesting one … What was your yield with the big bud ?

You did a contest ? that’s amazing

Do you have an idea of the THC percentage of your extracts ?

Man I got so much questions  I hope you don’t mind !

Big bud is a 3% yield from fresh frozen buds. So for every kilo you get 30 grams of hash! At 90 micrometers, that is. I’ve never actually had it tested for thc concentrations… yet. I was definitely in a competition where people tried it and assigned a numerical score. I forget how many times I won, but it was at least 4 times. That’s what transformed my hash from shelf dried to freeze dried. Had to go next level to keep winning!

Incredible !

Okay so you keep only the 90.

Yeah fresh frozen is better for the aroma, but yield is low! I yielded a poor gram from plants I grew some time ago…

How hard would it be for you to have it tested ? How do they assign a numerical score ?

Freeze drying… I got to look into that .

Congratulations on your winnings man !

my freezer isn’t big enough…

wasn’t fresh frozen buds anyway, because, again, my freezer isn’t big enough :stuck_out_tongue:
joe you don’t use the 190 bag? Please try it once and see how much stuff is getting thru. Theres never anything good in there, but without it, that shit falls into the 160 bag.

And yes, I rarely still drink a little. At least its not vodka anymore. I know it still sux

I use 220 and 90, but nothing else! There are very few plant fibers that make it into my hash, it’s always full melt! I mean, unless I’m using a shit plant.

BTW the strain I called IPW is really Purple ice water strain. So I’ll be cranking that one soon!

bro, I love your spirit, but I can see green shit in lots of your pics. That bag will either catch nothing at all, or everything you dont want. I like your shit bro, I’m just saying, do it once and show me a clean bag. A clean 190, so clean ur microscope wont show. I see it with tiny bits if shit every time.

just humor me and try it. You’ll find junk u dont want hitting the 160 I promise.

It looks really nice from here! The trick is genetically selecting an excellent hash producer. Minor hash making tech in my estimation! The trash fibers actually mostly wind up in the 25, and 73. 90 is pretty good!

I’d smoke it for sure, but it does have green parts in it…

Ive seen way worse examples. its just green stuff. I dont mean to critique(had to google spelling on that), but it would probably be better with one more layer of filtration yes? especially the only level between what you have and what you use… its perfect. they made a bag for this. its the 190. Ur all about experiments. do one. use the 190 and see if it has a lil trash in it

I don’t have a 190. Also, I don’t use the bags like that! In my world the bags are for separating the different trichome caps. The plant fibers get in there for a few different reasons that you can mostly mitigate. Using leaves is a bad one, because there is a poor plant fiber to trichome ratio.

Your right.

Awesome thread folks. I love seeing how everyone comes in with differing methods.

I first did BHO in the mid-90’s. (Boffo’s Magic Circus Tek, anyone?) Not many folks were doing it @ that point. Yeah…I know. I never felt right smoking any of that stuff. Blows me away to see it is still so popular and that the dispensaries/industry cranks that shit out so fast and cheap. Yuk. Gonna catch up to a buncha folks someday. Live and learn!

I’ve made bubble for 20+ years now and then some…with varying successes. Started off hand mixing it with a D-shaped shovel handle in a 5 gal bucket but eventually bought a cheap Chinese washing machine. Started out drying it in the open air/chopping it like mad almost daily to get it dry. Even in an area with low humidity it takes fuckinforever. I think most folks never truly get it dry. You can tell cus they can roll it in a “temple ball”. Danger Will Robinson…mold danger! But like I say…everyone plays differently/has differing visions/approaches. It’s all good if it gets you baked. I now use a freeze dryer to dry it. Works so well.

That is what makes it all so fun. Ok…and that massively clean toke/high. I’m high right now. Can ya tell?

I do what I do after all of these years. Like a robot. :grinning: I’m always looking to improve but have come to a place over the years where I’m happy with the product and don’t do the >hash snob/mine is better than yours< thing some do. It’s all good! Thanks for sharin’!
