Hash Making Revisited

woohoo I really fucked that one up! Some reason I didn’t stick the bag in far enough and it got…crunched up. Enjoy!

Been there done it . I blamed pressed it too hard and blew the end out of the bag.

yah I think the edge of the bag got blown out where it hit the edge of the press. IT got all wonky! Everything was fine until 60 seconds remaining. I think I’ll change the orientation of the bag, so it won’t happen again. All the pressure seemed to be at one single point on the end of the bag there where the hash had squeezed into.

ok I’m ready to try another one. This time I won’t fuck it up! Famous last words.

ohh shit. I went and dug around in the menus, I can set how fast the arm comes down, and also how much of a gap it leaves between the plates.
I wonder WTF I should do with that? lol! Increase the gap a few mm and perhaps slow the arm a bunch?
Edit: I’m gonna go fuck around!!

You’re going to have to make more hash just to play around with the settings. It’s amazing how much I press by feel on my manual press.

lol! I’m actually toying with the settings with nothing in there and I even turned off the heat. It looks like I can set an UP and DOWN setting to control how many millimeters the arm will travel. Example I can lower the arm so it’s 10 mm away from the bottom plate. Then I tell it I want it to go down 9mm sit there for 130 seconds, then retract 9 mm to complete the cycle. Took a while to figure that out hah hah. The lowest distance it can start out from the bottom plate is 5mm up and go down 5mm resulting in a 0mm gap… yikes! I think I want the machine to leave a gap there
The original settings were go down 80mm then go back up 80 mm. I don’t think that was good.

I would love to see what this looks like!

You use a freeze dyer right?

I spin it around in the 90 micron hash bag like you whip a bucket of water around and keep the water inside. Except the water flies out in this case. I use a regular freezer, that’s the secret. You don’t need to go and buy a 5000$ freeze dryer for this heh heh.

ok I figured out the way the machine was programmed it was getting closer and closer to making 100% contact between the plates. That’s what finally did it, the plates made full contact and shit went south. I’m going to make sure there’s a small gap.

Teach me the regular freezer way brother!

Yah like illustrated above, where you make the hash, spin it 60 seconds, then cut it into tiny bits on parchment and put that in the freezer and leave it for a week.

well that bag I didn’t fold over good it came unfolded and the hash got gooed all over the fucking place. I’ve got one more try! hah hah I programmed the machine to not come down and destroy everything. Now if I can just get it right, we’re making progress. I think it’s because I just plopped the bag in the middle of a folded in half parchment instead of folding it over a couple time to keep it closed.

The machine and I had words. Then I told it the score.

it fucking cranked out this clear batch it was like glass! I think I’m making progress on the programming of the machine with no instructions lol!

It doesn’t even come out looking like someone spit on the paper. This is some crazy rosin for sure! mm the flavor!! I think I was using far too much pressure because I didn’t know WTF I was doing.

You can see I changed it’s settings. Now the plates sit just a little ways apart and only travel a short distance. I used a stack of cards the same height as the squashed rosin bag I had in the freezer.
