Some days, I open the freezer and ask myself. What kind of hash is today going to be? Or, perhaps I should mix and match with a little dab of each in the same ball? I could probably calculate a permutation on the choices. Now where did I put wolfram…
So trying to figure out how i did on my returns here after a couple runs! should i be taking the dry weight of the bubblehash after its been in the freezer for a week or the wet weight before it goes in the freezer? I’m spinning my bubblebags around like a mad man to get rid of alot of the moisture so im thinking they might not lose much weight after drying anyways?
Ran 1007g of fresh frozen chem feugo yesterday its been sitting in the freezer since then and I just weighed it now at 47 grams (did 4 washes using 220/120/90/45 micron bags and stopped collecting the 120 after the 2nd wash.
Just get a good baseline. So if you are weighing the hash right after spinning, just make sure you do that all the time, so it’s comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges. Same thing with if you do it after it’s been freezing for a week, just make sure you always do it that way.
This is a great thread joe, youre a master! Makes me want to go out and buy a rosin press and a few more tents asap!
another question ive been meaning to ask does the big bud also yield high if you just press it for flower rosin? I’d imagine if it does good for bubblehash there’s a decent chance it nails other departments as well.
never actually tried to press flower rosin, except once when I pressed an old bud to get a few unfiltered rosin rips. I press the bubble hash in a 25 micron screen, and it makes an interesting product! Some day I’ll investigate the different rosin yields, but for now I’m just a beginner lol I haven’t pressed 200 grams yet.
interesting that you thought that, I wonder why. It was already heated and pressed once when it became rosin didn’t it?
Why does rosin consistency matter if I may ask? I don’t smoke rosin so I don’t know why consistency is something to worry about, unless you’re filling vape carts, or if it’s just that “beach sand” mindset that likes their trich’s a certain color/shape/consistency for preference’s sake.
I have noticed one thing as a bubble hash smoker though - wet hash is stickier, dry hash is more sandy/crumbly. The same patty of hash that had a sticky snap-and-pull texture the first few days after pressing will, if left sandwiched between parchment paper and left out in the open to be picked at like a degenerate, will start to break off into shards of chocolate that when squished between the fingers doesn’t quite crumble but stays homogeneous and has a “sandy” texture.
The consistency and end product for both the hash and rosin extracts depends on the plant it is made from. I wondered if it was a process thing he did, or was it the consistency of the hash itself. One way to find out is to try it and see! Turns out, it was a quality of the hash itself.
As for the rosin, I can produce two completely different products using the same process. One turned into a solid chunk in the fridge after 30 days, the other into a gooey substance. Lemme find the photos!
solid big bud.
goo, meat breath. Same 30 days in the fridge in a jar, different end product, different plants.
well…duh…I was asking why it mattered, not why it happened. You said you were worried it would ruin your rosin. Why?
why does changing the texture “ruin” rosin? again sorry if this is an obvious question, I don’t smoke rosin or use freeze dryers. Is it less melty? Does it dab different? I can’t imagine it would. Again I can see this mattering if you fill vape carts and need it gooey, but why would it matter otherwise?
It’s got to melt really good, aka full melt, or else I would consider it lower quality.
…what?
If the hash doesn’t completely melt down it’s lower quality.
You ok bro? Is your arm numb? Do you smell toast? I think you need to lay off the hash pipe for a bit, lie down, get some water. You’re maybe 4/4 where I ask you a question, and you manage to answer a completely different question I think you just don’t want to answer it? Anyway I’ll just head to another thread, this is getting long in the tooth, and kinda weird! lol
You should actually ask some real questions, I’m not sure what those muddled posts you made were all about. Asking questions about rosin consistency when I was talking about bubble hash consistency? The answer is the same for both. If they don’t completely melt they are lower quality. I can type that in again if you prefer?
I’m finally getting those containers set up and ready to go. As a judge, here’s what you get from me! A few points of yummy yums!
Hash looks great! Those calyx containers are the best concentrate containers too
I just want one of those crumbs to flame on.
