so i learned to grow on here using the Bushey older growers method of organic growing and im in the second week of flowering and i just gave it its 1st fertilizing of pure blend bloom i havnt added any bone meal yet because i have had some bad experiences with it in the past from what BOG said you add one table spoon for a small pot and one cup for a big pot i have them in 5 gallon buckets so im adding one cup of bone meal to mix in to the top of the soil? sometimes when i do this the lower leaves die on the plants thats why i havnt yet but one of my plants reacted really good to the blood meal in veg and i added a whole cup
Personally I’d stick with the pure blend pro.
Are you adding Bone meal or Blood meal? Bone meal may not break down fast enough to be valuable on this grow. Blood is a very hot fert, and it’s easy to burn plants just dumping it on. What @Foreigner said lol.
ive added the blood meal already 1 cup but i was nervus to add the bonemeal because of what happened to plants in the past with it so i am just gonna wait a week and give it pure blend bloom again then one more time a week later then switch to earth juice bloom
so maybe it will work if i added a layer of soil ontop of the roots? i think the problem might have been the roots were too close to the top of the soil so it burned the roots but only a thin layer because i dont wanna pile too much soil up around the main stem
Don’t use buckets anymore since I found smart pots.
Grew my best white widow in a bucket
Still have that bucket lol
Folks must wonder what is that big WW in sharpie
On the chicken feed bucket lolol
Looks great man
Welcome to the OG community
Welcome to og! Top dressing with any dry amendments should be scratched into the top 2 inches of soil for established plants. If you leave the amendments on top of the soil leaves that come in direct contact or when water splashes they can burn or become diseased. You can cover the soil with mulch or something to prevent it but usually not necessary for indoor plants.
It should be known any dry amendments take time to work. it can be up to a week or more before they go into full effect and can last for weeks to months. so finding a feeding schedule that works for you and your chosen brand of ferts.
I amend my ourdoor soil with blood and bone meal and other amendments every year but have switched to epsoma brand ferts. It has all that stuff already mixed and makes my life a bit easier. I also add gypsum and/or epsom salts to the soil. Gypsum helps with soil compaction which in turn helps with root development and airation.
I should also mention that the way dry amendments work is by breaking down through decomposition. Blood and bone meal are basically just ground up bone and dehydrated blood. They need to decompose in order for the nutrients to become available in the soil for the plants. Leaving them on the top of the soil and rehydrating them is only slightly less equivalent to leaving a rotting carcass under your plants. This is how soil born plant diseases and fungus is spread during early stages when leaves are close to the soil. Trim off any leaves touching or near the soil to help prevent this.
okay so i did it this morning i added the bone meal for trichome production in late flowering the grow should be done in October so it should work out and there hasnt been any ill effects yet i also added another layer of soil to make it easyer to mix in with the soil and i just mixed it in evenly with the new soil that i had left over from male plants it is hard to mix it in without doing that because the roots have the soil so solid its probly good for the plant to add more soil too when the roots are that close to the top
Adding soil is perfectly fine. Most important thing to give your plants is a two things. They are free and easy to do(most of the time ) First one is K.I.S.S. and second is L.I.T.F.A
So for KISS your gonna just Keep It Simple Stupid!
Then you just Leave It The Fuck Alone!
Don’t worry too much and try just watch what the plants do and make small adjustments as you learn. People overthink and do too much and end up with issues. Less is more when feeding. Just get to know the plant and the rest will eventually fall into place.
Hope to see your harvest here, good luck friend!
okay guys this was the cereal milk plant how it looked when i harvested it it took me a while my phone - computer connection wasnt working
i got some new plants started i ordered official seeds from royal queen seeds and got some tyson 2.0 punch pie
