Help me choose an auto breeder

I usually recommend Mephisto, Sweet Seeds, and Delicious Seeds. That’s what I’m running now.

Sorry man, my bad, I got you mixed up with Baked Beans. I was reading some of your posts here and on the forums and you being an active member of the community made me pull the trigger on the purchase :pray:t2: So, I have 7 of your strains coming and looking forward to them! Have never tried photos before!

I want to get the Banana Blaze from Dutch passion…

Ethos’s autos are interesting that me as well, they’re pretty well respected in the photo world, right?

Will get to Dutch passion as some point.

Hadn’t heard much about elite seeds, I’ll check them out.

SSSC I’ve been following on AFN, I’m more an indica hybrid guy during the day, but I’ll definitely try their stuff at some point

Barney’s I’ve been impressed so far, but small samples. Currently smoking their LSD, tastes like turpentine :unamused:

That’s the reason I love autos too, I want to grow as many stains as I can, and breed with the best of what I find

Man I have only grown humboldt seed co autos. All 3 strains had amazing flavor and smell. I highly recommend vanilla latte. But they just released mint jelly auto that is 25 to 30 percent THC supposedly.
What ever you grow train the hell out of them! Autos love lst in my experience

I have four of those monsters right now. Two from Barney’s (DSD and Watermelon Skit), one from seeds man, a giant amnesia, and an ILGM white widow. I think I’m going to get close to a lb. from them, may even break the 500g mark

Mephisto definitely has done good auto…Sweet Seeds is another…

There are so many seed companies these days…it’s tough picking one!

Agreed, I want to grow them all, but don’t have the time or funds…. But I’ll do my best to get through as many as I can! Hoping to have my 70 station aerobic set up by tomorrow. I’m going to use an ATI 8 bulb T5 HO fixture over it. Not sure if I’ll try it with the bulbs I used for reefs at first or not…

I have a growmie on ig #mr_g_beanz good guy and he’s killing it with his breeding. Hit him up, tell him I send you - if you’re interested in anything I have experience with most all major auto brands , my favorite IBL auto is Purple Lemonade from fast buds always produces weight and has a unique smell you can’t find anywhere else. Terps are crazy :fire::fire::fire: I have a few pics on my ig @kings_gold_cannabis scroll down a little. I also like Sour Stomper from Mephisto , always caked up with terps! Sour pungent taste / smell!

Thanks, I’ve got some purple lemonade on the way! I have a sour stomper cross as well, maybe sour stomper x skywalker  Have some forum
Stomper en route as well.

Also thanks for the tip, I’ll reach out to your bud :v:t2:

Purple lemonade produces weight and is a gorgeous plant to grow. I grew multiple, and all have different finishing times from 12-16 weeks. I actually chopped one because i tired of waiting on it. Of course it could have been my doings.
The purple lemonade has a grape candy/dough smell. The smoke is a little light and is better suited for daytime. People who like heavy smoke will definitely shy away from it.
For a purple strain I preferred Dutch Passions blackberry kush. It had a little more kick and I love it’s grape tootsie roll flavor. I found that the bbk buzz had a tendency to linger long after the best part of the high. Of course effect will vary.
Fast bud gorilla cookies has a pretty decent high. Some of the fastbud strains where a little lite in the potency department. A lot of other report this as well. However fastbud deliver some of best flavors found in autos. And nice yields.
Also stated above Dutch passions, auto blue mazar is a winner. Bbk and blue marzar have been some of Dutch passsions top sellers for years.
Mephisto will alway be my favorite auto grower. His beans are consistent to say the least. You get what you pay for and there is a reason they are always sold out. Lately I have been seeing some huge mephisto plants. …. I don’t partake anymore because of how hard they are to get directly. Also the offerings haven’t changed in a while. Some are just a smash up of older strains.
Rocbud…. I know a lot of people who love it. Rocbud stuff produces well expect 90 days or more. Plants where all over the place in structure and terps. I tell everyone I’m a light smoker, but i prefer heavy smoke. So when a featherweight like me smokes over half a j and still don’t feel any thing… I choose not to fool with it. I guess it all in accordance to what a person is used to smoking. I like to be out my gord in 2 hits. I’ll take a couple of more hits off something to give it a fight chance. But 2 hour highs don’t do it for me. Especially when it only a slight head buzz and squeezed red eyes. There is much better auto smoke out there than that.
I don’t know what the goal of your project is, but if I may, I suggest being more strain specific than breeder specific. Auto breeders offering can have huge differences between the strains.

Thanks for chiming in, some good insight!

I will try Dutch passion at some point, too much history there not to.

Right now I have Green Crack, Purple Lemonade, and Gorilla Cookies from fast buds, since they seem so polarizing and it’s easy I may pick up two strains and have that be the other half of the tent.

I also have 10 mephisto strains and crosses I can run, and can just do an all mephisto grow to understand what all the praise is about.

I also keep eying up some of the colorful strains from sweet seeds… So much to grow… I may just pop the strains I most want to grow first that aren’t mephisto, purple lemonade, anvil, etc. have been looking forward to growing that one, and even moreso now thanks to you, though the length isn’t great and thanks for the warning!

Anvil has a good following at afn… last time I was there it was at f’7.
Holler at boognelson87 @afn. I don’t know if he still hangs out there, but he has a nice anvil cross that he calls hippie snacks. Plus he can direct you to the anvil. You could also search the afn posts for it.

At the beginning of mephisto reign, the smoke was comparable to any photo strain. Mephisto was the reason I went solely to autos. I liked the consistency of his plants. Pulse he gave a lot of information about his offerings.
However years past and things change. Other breeders have caught to mephisto in potency and terps. You are going to find people who consider mephisto meh. I have out grown their offerings as well. But I repeat I’m a huge fan because of the history.
I don’t know what you are trying to do. But if you are trying to make some autos from photos, that going to be a tough decision. I like certain breeders for different reasons.
Fastbuds for flavor and bag appeal. You can also find better terps with fastbuds that are similar to photo offerings.
The photo /auto cross will have give and takes mainly in potency.
No matter which strains you choose, you are going to need some power/ potency to back it up. The terps and bag appeal will easily transfer, however potency will take several breeding to show true benefits of the the cross. In that regard, I would seek the most potent auto available. That’s because photo smokers are used to certain levels of smoke that some autos don’t provide. I could help better if I had some idea of your goal.

I’ve just received a pack of banana blaze. The description stated if grown outdoors they can hit 2.5m in height  I’m gonna have to cut a hole in my grow tunnel.
When it comes to autos I recommend fastbuds. They used to have a bad reputation a few years back but have now pulled it back and produce some mega plants. I recommend the GSC :v:

I’m a huge Mephisto fan, but can 100% recommend Brothers in Farms. I’m using their white grape auto in an upcoming project and have been blown away by everything I’ve grown by them so far.

These look good to me, and not related to anything meph at all!

Okay, the 2’nd has an interesting meph cross as the dad. Didnt catch that before posting.

Mephisto is still king IMO, no-one is really that close.

You are right about mephisto when it comes to an all around smoke.
Each breeders has it strong points. I often grow several strains of a breeder a few times to see where that strong point is.
If it was something I was planning on smoking, yeah it would probably be mephisto. But for breeding purposes, I would probably build a cross that included mephisto genetics. But also I would include fastbuds and sweet seeds for better terp profiles.
People are demanding louder terps. So personally I wouldn’t build a strain that doesn’t include them. I’m talking terps that can be smelled from a distance and not just nosing the container.
Frost is also next level these days. Here is something I grabbed somewhere that I don’t remember. But is a prime example of what I’m talking about.

I’m just saying, plan ahead instead of repeating the same stuff that already out there. Wouldn’t you move to see an auto like this. Roc bud delivers the frost. But it could use some extra power.
Move forward brother, side ways and backwards will leave you behind in this fast paced market.

My in house genetics sugar cane looked nothing like that. Was frosty AF though and mega potent.

Now bro I feel your pain. I grew out 3 ihg packs and my plants looked exactly like the description.
But like you, I haven’t seen anything like that from my packs.
I don’t care, I’ll just make one. … in auto form.
