Help wanted for MS relief strain

My wife was diagnosed with MS, 25+ years ago, and her Dr’s are happy that it has been in remission for years. I have no doubt it is the organic medicine I’ve been growing. Her newest Dr is on-board and she has her medical card. Unfortunately it only allows CBD tinctures but she enjoys the effects of THC, too. I grow what is available, I trade clones with 3 or 4 close friends to maintain a nice variety. I was hoping someone here may know of particular strains beneficial to persons with MS. Thank you.

What strains have been helpful over the years?

Welcome to OG.

I had a Vietnamese strain, Mean Green, that I was able to keep going for years but I had to shut down and lost it. I restarted and have had Diesel, Widow, and many un-named but high THC content. Currently she likes the Strawberry Cough, White Widow, and Blue Dream, will have Bruce Banner in a couple weeks. Also, just got a few clones of Block-Berry, an old school strain that is supposed to be high THC. As a newby to a platform, I was curious if anybody had suggestions or recommendations. And, thank you for the welcome.

Generally indica or indica dominant strains are recommended, especially for cancer and since MS also has to do with immune system I have no doubt an Afghani would be beneficial.
How does she use it? Rick Simpson Oil should be optimal.

We’ve tried various methods but she enjoys smoking flower best. I’ve made bubble hash and BHO, they work but can be harsh. Vaping is nice, we’ve tried stuff from Dank and Brass Knuckles, works, but, sometimes difficult to find and ensure it is organic. I now make cannabutter and kick ass peanut butter oatmeal cookies.I always assumed RSO was for cancer so I never dabbled in it. I like the suggestion and will research it more But, ultimately, at the end of the day, a nice bowl of some tasty bud is her preference. I will look for some Afghani seeds and give it a try, too.

Thank you.

Has she tried any CBD buds or oils? It’s good for pain, blood pressure and tremors. Most high THC strains have little or no CBD. They kinda potentiate each other, so even supplementing her high THC smoking with some CBD oil or buds might be helpful.

Oh, RSO is great for a whole lotta different diseases, just like CBD. I cook it for 3 hours at 100 degr. Celsius, I find it’s most potent that way. You can put it on wounds too, an open wound might sting a little at first but once your skin absorbs it it has a sedative effect and it’ll heal faster. The oil is sterile from cooking anyway and if you suck it into a fresh syringe it’s perfectly clean. We have cannabinoid receptors all throughout our body so it’s extremely effective for many different ailments. And you only need a drop the size of a seed so you can just put it on any food you’re eating. Just don’t combine it with high sugar, garlic or alcohol. I noticed it diminishes the effect.

Hi herbforever, I have a different muscular condition (physical, not neurological) and I’d love to help out if possible. that’s great to hear her condition has been in remission for 25 years. I currently have some vietnamese hybrid seeds created and gifted to me by a member of the community. Here are the complete genetics of the hybrid-

bodhi’s Pleiades love nest [vietnamese x kashmiri] x bodhi’s silver mountain [super silver haze x {green crack x tres dawg}]

this will be very sativa dominant, but if the vientmanese line you grew before had a specific cannabinoid or terpene that was helpful with her condition, it’s possible this hybrid might possess similar traits. The vietnamese and kashmiri are pretty wild long flowering landraces, but the silver mountain should improve yields density, and flowering time. A friend is currently growing these outdoor and in veg they have been vigorous and easy to cultivate.

I’ll try to think if any of the strains I have reproduced might be helpful as well. Keep in touch and enjoy the community, I’m sure we’ll be able to help you find more varieties that are helpful in controlling her condition.

Yes, CBD is all her medical card allows. She has minimal pain, I believe the psychotropic effects help keep her anxiety down, thus hindering the progression. Her lesions have actually reversed, what we’re doing is working, but illegal, here. I was hoping someone may have a similar situation and found a good strain.

Thank you.

Hi herb4ever and welcome to OverGrow!

I have a friend on another website that is a caregiver and also has MS. I’ll ask her opinion. She treats lots of people.

The RSO oil is the bomb! There is nothing different about it from any other oil. You soak your ground herb, a few ounces (Indica preferably), in some good extraction alcohol, but Everclear works in a pinch. Organic food grade 190 proof is what you want. I use a product off the shelf at the liquor store called 42O Extractor. It’s made locally, has less water than Everclear and is filtered much more. It’s cheaper than EC too.

42O Extractor

After soaking it for your preferred amount of time, winterize it in the freezer for a few days or strain it straight by using a couple of brown, coffee cone filters. I use a clothespin to hold it on because it’s a slow process.

Take that and boil the alcohol off in a rice cooker (preferred) at low temps and when the viscosity is right, pull the left over oil into a large syringe.

I take it every night now… just as a preventative I guess, but also for my large array of chronic pains from old accidents and having all the fun I could.

I find Rick Simpson’s instructions to be a little outdated… I don’t agree with using any of the compounds for extraction that he suggests. Benzine??? oh, hell no!!

He needs to update his information. But the science of the oil is solid.

I meant to just give an idea of how easy and common RSO is… I can point you to other sites or people to make it even easier to understand. Just use a good organic alcohol if possible. If you get a home/table top distiller, you can recover most of the alcohol to use again and reduce the costs of production immensely!

Best vibes, and prayers to you and your wife! I’ll check with my friend and get back to you. .peace

Thank you! We will definitely give it a try. I’ve seen YouTube videos are available but never watched them as I thought it to be for cancer. Thanks, again!

Yes, fatigue is an issue and insomnia. That is why I grow sea of green. Some strains to uplift, some to crash. While working, I wasn’t organized. Now, I’m retired and feel less threatened. A member of this group suggested I join and get to see what works for others and seek advice. My next seed order I’ll be getting some Green Crack. Thank you!

Thank you! I’m an old novice, been growing a long time with what worked for me. I’m learning there’s been a revolution in the science since the Ed Rosenthal days. Differing genetics and terpenes are areas I’ll need to learn. I am finding this site an excellent source of information and I thank you for your consideration and any future info you can provide.

Hey, we’re all learning together! The science seems to be moving fast with good news all the time. Terpenes are a new area of research and very exciting since they are responsible for the aromas and flavors that we love. So, genetics with certain terpenes will be the future… we’ll maybe know what science any certain combination of terps will give us.

Cool stuff to think we on the home level are on the cutting edge of the canna medical revolution. We’re all doing research of sorts.

I’ll let you know what I hear… peace

The ideal temperature for vaporizing/ dabbing concentrates is between 366 and 372 degrees Fahrenheit. any hotter than that, and it will start activating benzine and other chemicals that are created and released by combustion.

I was gifted several strains to try by Zephyr, and I can not be more grateful. I hope to be able to share and pay forward as I become more adept. Here are shots of the strains that popped and will be growing this run.

Pleiades x Silver Mountain
Zephyr’s Lebanese Sinatra “Mountain Dew”
Zephyr’s Lebanese Green
Nube’s GG4 x Long Bottom Leaf S1

Update The girls are healthy and happy… the I.D. markers, on the other hand, are getting bleached by the florescent lights. lol

It breaks my heart but I think I fucked up my nutes in my veg area. The smallest, most vulnerable plants are yellowing and wilting, mix was a little to strong for them. I’m flushing them now to try to save them, might just transplant them in fresh soil if they don’t show improvement. The larger plants seem to be thriving.
