How do *you* store your seeds?

The best long term storage can be achieved by ensuring the seeds are fully dry and clean of all other organic matter, and then they can be vacuum packed in Mylar pouches and frozen and below -20 C. They will basically keep indefinitely like this.

This is how the global seed banks store all sorts of plant seeds long term.

I think Silica Gel is a bit of a wild card when it comes to storage of your beans…I think storing your beans with some good ol’ rice is your best option: a sealed container out of the light in a cool, dry place…
The problem/risk…Is that if you put too much silica in with your beans, it continues to leach out that precious moisture from dormant seeds…If you leach out “too much” your seeds will no longer be viable…That’s why I like the rice as rice still has some residual moisture to maintain a proper and effective environment…

Cheers

Silica packs come in everything ya buy anymore.

I just toss the packs in my desk drawer where I keep most of my weed stuff.

No freezer storage?

I don’t freeze or even put them in the fridge, high humidity around here… so I keep them in sealed containers, loaded with rice and silica, and hope it should be ok. Don’t want to risk depending on electricity and one day not having it… :flushed: :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Good day OG family. I’m finally storing a lil bean collection. How do you all store them? I’m talking little but something I’m proud of. (Seed collection, not my love life) You guys getting crafty, like a little photo album storage, tackle box, I’m just curious how you stay organized and neat? Refrigeration?

So with all this being said, and I appreciate every word of it, when does one start a new thread moving forward?

I feel like I’ve started one too many now after this conversation lol

@AZsensi Its all good bud. Like Calyxander said, it is always a good idea to search for an existing thread that may be able to get you sorted out. But if you don’t find one that fits your needs, then by all means make one! There is no 1 size fits all thread and if there is an issue then they will mention it or combine/split threads if they feel there is a better place for it that is established already. :+1: Glad to have ya here, hope you stick around and enjoy yourself! :evergreen_tree:  :evergreen_tree:

I’m glad to be here, you’ll have to kick me out, I freaking love it here. I’ve always just been a paranoid closet grower, stressing out the pastors kid for a wife once a year lol. Now I can spread my wings stress free…on my continuous search for the real Pre-98 bubba and anything funky that’s close. Thanks for everything OG, I’m glad to be a big giant sponge in this sea of knowledge

That’s what I want to ‘upgrade’ to, but first, I’ll need to get my own refrigerator…

My seed stash is taking up about 1/4 of the bottom shelf & I’m hearing ‘grumbling’…
