My fault for not saying wtf I was showing pics of, lol. I was so bleary-eyed at the time.
I thought same thing, saying DAMN ALL MALES, poor Howard!!!
Heh. Lesson learned: people on this forum will try to be helpful, and actually pay attention to stuff, so give them good information
I think I’m fighting off a flu, so my brain has about the same wattage as a small potato right now.
Trying to get enough caffeine in me to make a proper update. Might be a bit…
Happens to all of us from time to time, more often that not.
Water height is 2 inches from the flat pots sit on…or 2 inches from the deep "channel " ???
I see how far they"wick" it up…just like my Octopots
Oh, yeah… I re-checked this morning, and it turns out that it’s actually set to 2.5 inches, from the flat part the pots sit on. The channels don’t actually hold much water, maybe about a gallon total, so I don’t usually count it in my estimates. And coco has pretty decent wicking ability, so I estimate about a little over three to almost four inches from the bottom of the pots gets saturated during a flood. Obviously the roots aren’t drying out enough to die back until they get outside the pot, lol.
Just caught up on the last 60 posts .
Still looking most excellent man and I love that photo from below showing the bottom of the leaf a ways up and how much texture it has… so beefed out and leathery.
Did you cull the males or you going to make some more beans?
I like the system. I’m planning on sticking to DTW when I get home for now but have been looking into other automated or lower maintenance systems such as SIPs, hempy buckets etc… always lean toward organic as I love growing an organic veggie garden every year and have made a few batches of soil in the past for some outdoor.
Planted a bunch of comfrey last year to at least use for my veggies by making fermented plant extract…
Thinking I should put a layer of perlite or pumice on top of my DTW this round seems like a great idea.
Eager to see your buds form they are going to be like diamonds I bet!
Hey @Howard.Crane did you ever get around to asking your friend about using his phone to track sleep by chance? Going to be home soon and if I can’t get my hands on a Fitbit for a week or something I am all about trying it with my Android
I culled one, and kept three cuttings of the other (better, imo) male so as not to prematurely limit my options. I have no plans to make seeds on this run, but will also be taking cuttings of all of the females, and may make some small-batch F2 seeds or crosses in the near future.
I forgot. I’ll text him right now so I don’t forget again.I
[Edit] Texted. Will report back when I hear from him.
No problems bromigo, and thanks.
Apparently it was “okay” did not live up to all of its claims, but he deleted it because although it recorded everything it was monitoring, it did not provide any access to that data, nor the ability to opt out of data collection, and that seemed pretty sketchy
Well that’s wack!! Wonder what they want to do with the data lol. Appreciate you asking anyway. I am sure I will figure it out when I get home. Hanoi is popping off for TET right meow so who cares about sleep anyway, right
The Orange Goji plants were showing signs that they are not happy with the high EC feed lately, so I brought it back down to 1.6 in one shot. I was previously trying to bring it down gradually to see how they react, and now I guess I have my answer.
These pics are from an hour after lights on.
I think I’ve identified another male, but I’m not going to try to verify until tomorrow. If this one is a male, I’m definitely keeping cuttings because I really like its structure.
Some USB microscope shots of various locations on the three remaining plants. Some of these seem obvious to me, others less so.
So pics 2 and 6 are female
WEIRD…pic 1 3 4 5 are strange. SHAPE of a female pre, but up on a “stalk” like male…HMMMMM Will know on them in 2 days , IF lady’s, they will throw pistils before getting much bigger. If get larger but no hairs, male.
Those are tough in picture From Howard…you KNOW 2/6 are Ladies, both showing hairs…
Bet bottom pic will be Male…
Some of those “shape of a female preflower but up on a stalk” locations are on the same plants as #2 and #6, which is odd.
Will be pulling the plants out of the tent and really getting in there when I get a chance, probably later today.
