Howard's Hunt for Headstash

I’ve got a forty gallon rez, and typically only mix up three gallons at a time when things are running smoothly, so even if I just dunno it in right after mixing it is still a small proportion of the total.

I’ve never noticed any problems doing that, but I prefer to wait all the same.

Got ya…yeah THAT makes a huge difference.

My Rez’s are on each pot, only 6 gallons, and a 3 gal top off is ONE HALF total volume and instantly goes to plant.

You are right…you way is just fine, but I would fill just after last dalily water, let it stabilize over night before it gets pumped.

Your system is cool …I want to try it

Ah, gotcha.

I mix new solution in a separate Homer bucket, then (usually) add it to the rez after letting it sit for 24 hours.

FWIW, though… I have a Home Depot bucket with lines marked at three gallons, four gallons, and five gallons.

Because of how I mix my stock solutions, I can use a syringe to put in equal parts of A, B, and C per gallon. So 13ml per gallon of A, 13ml per gallon of B, etc.

Makes it very quick and easy to mix up a bucket, and I’ve got my syringes marked with tape for making up a three gallon batch without having to trust my old eyes to see the right line on the syringe.

Works pretty well for me, and doesn’t take long. I like it that way

When it’s set to 2 inch depth, it’s approximately 10 gallons (24" x 48" flood tray x 2" height = 2304 cubic inches, divided by 231 cubic inches per gallon = 9.97 gallons). That’s not completely accurate, but close enough for government work

The rez is taller, but not as wide, so the water level in there drops by about five inches during a fill, which gives me a bit of wiggle room for days when I don’t feel like hauling water. It can drop almost fifteen inches before the pump starts sucking air.

When I ran hydro (JetDro) lol, I did the same with my 3 part nutes…makes it easy.

Thanks for letting me look under your skirt…you got it going on mang!!!

Running organic no-till and I never worry about chlorine. A pinch of EWC will get rid of any traces of it. I prefer RO water, simply because my tap comes out at a pH of around 8.

Watching you with your no till beds makes me wish I could do the same. Maybe one of these days I’ll find a way to make it work for my situation.

E&F is probably my second favorite way to grow. Set my brother up with it (GH 3-part) and he is loving it.

Orange Goji

Some photos of different branches from two males found this morning. Will try to grab more and make a better update later this evening.

Am I seeing a couple balls there?

Also I’m wondering if you flood to a depth of 2" are the tops of the pots always dry due to the ‘perched water table’?

Yup. I’ve identified two males so far. I think there’s at least one more, will have to check later.

The tops of the pots aren’t completely dry because of the crushed pumice I use for a mulch layer to slow evaporation, but I doubt you could squeeze more than a drop of water out of a handful. I usually get a pretty good layer of roots over the top by the end of flower.

Nice that’s pretty ideal, sounds similar to those octopots.

Only took photos of different parts of two plants so far, so not sure how many just yet. At least one more, I’m fairly sure.

Oh I thought those were all individual plant pics, call me silly
