To me the strain name or history is not important anymore, genes are so mingled and mixed up due to poor practices it’s not relevant what is what anymore
The only thing relevant is if you hit something special, later we will name it according to the taste and structure lol

I feel like it really depends on how much homework the breeder does on sourcing their parents and the specific strains in question. ive samples some chemdawg rosin made from a clone sourced from chemdog at cannaventure in mass and its like stepping into a time machine when i smoke it. After growing some chemdawg crosses, im fairly confident a legit cut was used for those
Ill agree theres a ton of knockoffs out there and it makes it harder for everyone because it makes people unsure of whats real and whats not. Prime example, the most legit sour D ive seen since 2015 was called “just another bag seed sour diesel”. Have seen tons of knock offs over the last decade but only one actually had any resemblance

Yeah but it seems that even when you pair elites or self them, you get a lot of mixed results and usually subpar expressions.
The only way to make sure a F1 or S1 will have high chances of success is making sure the donor and the mother or just the mother (if you self it), is breeding true
In a perfect world breeders should only S1 true breed clones.
You want the seeds to represent the final generation of that specific clone you selected as much as possible, meaning when you self it you will get 80+% like mother phenos.
F1 is the same case, if it’s not from a true breed parents, it’s gonna be all over the place, maybe 1:100 or 1:1000
The whole point insetting a benchmark of how many seeds you sell in a pack should reflect your breeding capabilities, if I pop 7 beans from a CSI pack and get all meh, the % are way way low for each cross or self he makes
Seeds in that level should cost pennies, 20 years ago proven worked lines of elite clones were cheap as hell at nirvana or ams seed shops so why CSI is so expensive ?
The guy is doing preservation, all the seeds he makes are not true breeding, not even close.
Last time I checked F2 and preservation seeds cost nickel and a dime

You’re comparing the prices of things to 20 years ago and there in lies the problem. 20 years ago houses, cars, everything was cheaper. Inflation and cost of living rises as does cost of consumer goods.

You’re entitled to your opinion of the guy but he’s one of the top 5 breeders out right now for those who don’t love cookies. He gets a lot of support and people like his work and it’s for a reason. F2’s are usually given out here for free. I mean be honest have you grown out more than one pack of his seeds?
Also if you think this guy is expensive you should browse Neptune seeds and see the guys charging 500 a pack with no freebies.

Yeah I’ve grown several of his packs, the plants were subpar.
The TK were nice, fit the bill but nothing to back them up
My friend is running LHB x TK now, so we shall see in the future, I will post pics of it in the coming weeks

Second, the seeds he sell are all over the place, no consistency.
The guy has 300+ strains for sell, the number one red flag for a lazy pollen chucker haha but when it comes to CSI it’s legit breeding

Ok I mean I see your posts and you grow a lot of cookies. I don’t know if you’re in America but he’s out of Humboldt county and that’s prime real estate for the cannabis space in the us. If he has been doing this for years and has the space , he’s going to grow a lot of plants when you do it for a living. The majority of those 300 packs are out of stock on his website. This is like debating politics with people who are stuck in their ways so I’m gonna go on reading other sections. Hope you find what you’re seeking.

I still remember CSI from the old days, how no one was paying attention to him, we never bought seeds from him, the forums were the only place you got a peek to some of the things he did, which weren’t special, I don’t remember anything special in the 25 years I’m in this game from this “breeder”

I’m not recommending anyone in this market, I’ve grown so much from top breeders and it’s mostly meh, they learned the method, name it, sell it.
If it turned out lame, blame the grower, it always works
They are not obligated to nothing, not even informing their hard working customers what they are selling
The only brands I think do any kind of breeding work meaning getting you their prized clone in seed form which is the whole damn point is C&C
Hmm maybe Little Chief Genetics, they have only 2 strains, so I’m guessing it’s probably worked, could be wrong though
Others are a straight shot in the dark
But if I’ll remember anyone else that I see putting the work I’ll dm you

I told @IgrowBodhiandCSI in the DMs I used to have the OG Bright side Cheese clone, and The SR 71 PK, the legit ones, the ones people get on their knees and wanna blow you just to share some
Other seeds came from nirvana and seed shops no brand man, just a name on the seed and a bud in the coffeeshops to verify if the seed match
You are spoiled today with the seed market, but that’s also the Achilles hill of this, a lot of no work genetics with names you never smoked or reviewed in real life

i understand your point… kinda agree in some aspects, most of csi work imo is just providing genetic material. He does work some lines which is more work than the vast majority of the market does noawadays…
At the end of the day, the breeder is just part of the equation… you still need to put your time and go through a vast number of phenos to find something worth it…
CSI is provising feminized version of most elite cuts… so saying his shit is wack is claiming all those strains are wack. Sure not much creativity involved in some of his work, but you are ignoring the part of the work involved to maintain cuts alive, track them, separate seeds and everything else involved in the process…

I think this is the mindset to have. No one works with og’s as much as he does. I think his offerings allow you to have cuts in seed form as he hunts through hundreds of seeds which is more than a lot of breeders may hunt through. I think of him more as preserving stuff than breeding. And I’m glad he does what he does.

If the price point would reflect the seeds, meaning much much lower than today, I would buy hundreds from him just for the chance of getting those amazing cuts he hold
But that’s not the case, no one claims the strains he hold are whack oh no, far from it

When CSI says you need to buy 50-100 TK seeds in order to get close, what does that say about the work he does ? Or should I say not doing
