I can only imagine the fear of that blowing up. Yes I agree, I used SAB for the entire time until I found a flowhood for couple hundred bucks on Amazon and have not been able to use it yet.
I didnt want to invest into every automated or high tek thing. I did want to do my own Bags and Subs so THE pC was a no brainer. Even though the SAB works very well with agar I just know when working with large bags and transfers it makes difficult.
I use this big ass igloo from sams to bulk substrate with boiling water. As long as it stays closed it stays clean and sterile.
My basic set up. And no worries about the thread @toastyjakes
Haha thats the part I find the most interesting! @SaintAliasKnife once I learned that it opened all aspects of the grow.
I like that process as well. I was under impression that doing it that way too many times can diminish the overall vigor of the mycelium.
A few transfers I have established that I have been proud about.
I’m a chickenshit so I havent tried a full dose. micro only. I did drop the weight from 0.25gr that I capped from GT to 0.15gr of PE. effect similar ~ 3hr after taking I have light nausea and chills up and down my spine like a cylon toaster. the 4-5hrs of pure mental clarity.
shared capsules with some friends. great feedback. seems to help people.
I am happy with the results.
oh don’t get me wrong. I do as well. but needs must when the devil drives. results were more important to my purposes and this was more expeditious.
So I had enough beans (8) left to try this little experiment.
I have used the testers from @BirD and I would like to share the process. I am a grain of sand in an ocean of experience. But I wanted to try something during this grow that would help myself out as well give some feedback because I already fubarred some seedlings when my germ bin powered out.
Its a little long of an explenation but hopefully I made it clear enough to follow. With a few photos.
Cups 1-3 have bottom 1/3 all rough estimates, filled with vermiculite for wicking. The middle 1/2 section is all sterilized coco coir. Just layered not mixed.
The top 1/4 is different for each cup.
Cup 1. Has mushroom compost that looks like clumpy woody dirt. Has substantial amount of wood pieces and some rocks as well. Still think mostly for adding weight
Cup 2. Has black cow for topping and it looks like clumpy dirt found some rocks and I know cows shouldnt be eating rocks. Maybe just added weight for more money?!
Cup 3. is just Coco to the top. Will not be using cup 3. Its already being used to rescue a seedling in stress. And I only have 8 beans left.
Solos 4-6 are filled with bottom 1/3 vermiculite, middle with sterile coco coir and topped the same as cups 1-3. The difference in these solos is between the verm layer and coco layer is a small 1/4 layer of composted chicken manure from the feed store.
Solo cups 7-9 are now just the ingredients mixed together filling the entire cup.
Cup 7. has 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 sterile coco coir, and 1/3 mushroom compost mixed.
Cup 8. Has 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 sterile coco coir, and 1/3 black cow manure mixed
Cup 9. Has 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 sterile coco coir, and 1/3 chicken composted manure mixed
In a germ bin and added 1000ml of water just enough to creep to bottom line of solo cups.
Overall my issue with some seedlings have been nothing short of frustrating.
Trying to keep them alive is a struggle on my end for some reason lately.
Its a kinda test within a test to see what works the best. I will companion plant them with alfalfa, hairy vetch, clover white and red, and creeping thyme. Not going for the fastest time to harvest. I left worm castings out because its been established that it works extremely well and consistent. Its is expensive if your not making your own. Just me buying something local that I can use to mix with coco coir and verm to see the entire cycle and what holds the best from germ to chop! No added anything extra or beyond what is already being used.
I went with this setup, bottom watering or wicking in mind. No watering from the top. So I filled 9 solo cups with varying products.
Had some fruit ready to be removed. But the question I have is, the caps that look like they are splitting, are they too dry or is that a normal look? @toastyjakes or @SaintAliasKnife?
Hbill
Humidity is probably a bit low… id say up your misting a couple more times a day with the next flush and see how it works out
I will do that. Thank you
Pretty net will be cool to see how everything works out for you hope everything goes as smoothly as possible for you.
I gonna have to restart my 2 x 4 tent with the clones have an aphid out break and I will not even try fighting them. Just gonna pull everything and clean the tent and go from there that’s just part of it as they say.
Dam that really sucks. I hope it does not take you long to recover. I fear them things, where i am they are on eveything and you wAlk by a vine and your a transporter.
I don’t see them to bad around here but when you do it’s pretty bad they clone so fast they will mess up a lot in a hurry
Yeah it’s gonna definitely be a little set back I have a ghost of Candida that just dropped roots have mudBone x whirlybird and whirlybird bx in the cloner will just have to run those out
Not a good a start to the weekday. Got the dreaded green death growing in both my monotubs.
I have a feeling I know what caused it but cant be 100% sure. The location they were in got pretty warm and the tubs had no air movement. Just my best guess. Then the substrate was dryer in some locations.
On another note. I have a final grow place for all the plants and mushrooms that should provide a better environment.
Back 3 are TWHR @BirD.
Waiting for other 4 to recover. @jamMAKEcan it looks like burying them to leaf has them on way to recovery.
Positive update on the recovery of seedlings. Can see some air roots on the stem that was damaged early. This made growing time extended but shows how resilient the TWHR’s. Glad I had some great advice.
