So my idea is to kind of continue-restart what the haze brothers where believed to been doing crossing a new longflowering sativa every year. So if we OG where to share mainly pollen with predetermined OGers and some of us buy certain strains (share cost with in group) thinking any landrace 14 weeks or longer maybe 16 or longer or pure hazes. I have some I’m sure some of you have some if we organize a group we could grow 2 sativas mix them or 1 and have pollen sent. Then take cross grow out same time as your predetermined pollen sender who is growing there cross out to pick a female to be hit with your pollen and Male to send pollen. Ok just seeing if there is any interest in this, I or someone willing to could set this up it might take a while to get going but it would save time with the longflowering sativas and OG could create a new haze type.
Not a bad idea by any means, but there are so many specific preservations going on here from the Freakers, to the Seed Run Co-op, and then there’s the independent group buys, pollen sharing between members, the landrace threads, etc. So all the individual elements you mentioned already exist around here
I would wager that most folks who are allowing long flowering sativas into their garden for 6 months or more, already have an idea of what and when they’re growing.
I feel that you might get better traction if you proposed something specific like an end goal with specific measurable steps along the way. OG’s are always creating new strains (even Haze strains), so perhaps consider where you envision things going and work back from there.
I’ll tell you, if you want some great genetics with a beautiful haze flavor, try the Oaxaca from Cryptic Labs. Man, I have one that is just so yummy to toke.
I would almost go as far as to suggest that the haze flavor that everyone is used to may have come from the Oaxaca. I think it’s a 16 weeker and easy to grow. @Upstate may have some to trade for. He may be the best one to discuss this project with, or hit them up on their landrace threads.
I’m sure you would find somebody to play over there. Those guys are all about the sativa. I may even be able to supply some pollen at some point. It would be a cool project to start with super long flowering sativa and hit them with different strains. Once you collected some first level parents, the project could go on for a long time, with a lot of people involved. peace
I’m way ahead of you buddy. I’m 3 years into the making of new Haze lines. The next step for me is to combine hybrids I have already made. Then the pheno hunting begins😁
I also have some (20) seeds from a Original Haze x Original Nevil’s Haze that I hit with some 4P haze from @lefthandseeds, that really blew me away and I plan on growing them out to make seeds and my Oaxaca got hit with some Lemon Thai that could be interesting. Haze combos can really create some magic!
@GMan I think a Oaxaca similar to Cryptic labs version Is what gave us the haze line known as NY Piff.
Oh wow, I can imagine. Man, the Christmas tree pheno is blowing me away with the flavor. Yeah, I want to do more with that strain! Awesome!
The best Oaxaca plants are epic. I’m glad you found one you are enjoying as much as I am enjoying my favorites. Every time I grow more plants I find another keeper.
Me to have a couple crosses now and some of yours too just started back up indoor after 9 year indoor break went to pop my sativa crosses and got 1 out of 50 of my (Celestial Temple sativa x nevilles haze) x (durban x thai) i made in 2003 and was a male and poor growth so I pulled it. Hope to find some keepers in your mix.
Let me get this straight…The Must Be’s : Pure Sativa ? , 14+wks , landrace , & the " pure Haze " . Be interesting to see what constitutes a " pure Haze " as IIRC they been tryin’ to settle that on ICM forever… Well I certainly endorse your project . Look fwd to the results .
I would almost hand the judges a bud of this Oaxaca and let them tell me that it’s not a classic haze, and a loud one at that. It morphed into a beautiful flavor.
I’m also amazed at the oiliness they seem to keep in there buds. All of my plants died with the buds on them in my kitchen and I figured I lost it all. But, they stayed nice, a little crispy, but oily, and it crushes in your fingers perfectly. I may even try that drying method again for these, the next time, or do a side by side with some hung and dried next to the vine ripened.
Super oily. You pretty much dried them the old way. They keep their flavor through some rough conditions. I had a couple plants i used for a small seed increase and there wasn’t much to harvest. The plants are frozen solid and still in the frozen dirt. Every now and then I’ll pluck enough for a bowl and its delicious every time…
It was a really happy surprise. They were the last to finish and I was in and out of the hospital. I felt bad about not being able to harvest them normally, but I was energized when I found out they were still prime smoke. it was really amazing to see and experience. Thanks again!!! peace
Where can one order these?
I haven’t finished reading yet, but my initial thoughts are it is going to be hard to source some original haze seeds…the best bet is going to be to find some verified haze…big project though…alot of gear to breed through without original stock.
Edit: sounds kinda like the mail penny project…add one penny to the pot and pass it on…fun stuff! We’ze going to be bean rich!!
But wouldn’t that be fun!! The haze penny project!
@misterbee
Oaxacan and columbian have been something I’ve missed for a long time , I’ll be happy when the corinto and other lines start to make there way around.
You and me both @Heritagefarms . I’ve never even had a Colombian smoke. I hear it can be great. Do you have cryptic labs Oaxaca?
I’ll ask and see if anyone has some left😁
No I have some from a California source who used to do a lot of breeding for several known seed companies, you would be amazed how many people don’t breed there own gear but are actually resellers.
