Iā€™m not trying to harsh your buzz or anything, but technically Hazes are distinct from sativaā€™s.

When the haze brothers endeavored this they were working with Sam. In Samā€™s eyes all Hazes come from himā€¦and Iā€™m pretty sure they doā€¦:+1:. But when Sam and the haze brothers were working together Sam saw it as a very large project. Not just a simple crossing. The goal Sam and the haze brothers had was for the haze ā€œto be fully expressedā€ with the added uniqueness of a sativa. Ultimately they would endeavor to create haze-sativa hybrids but the backbone of the plant remaining a haze. The sativa being the icing on the cake so to speak!

A haze is a hazeā€¦distinct unto itselfā€¦hazes arenā€™t sativaā€™sā€¦:wink::grin:

That is a very narrow window.

If one guy wants to claim dominion over ā€œhazeā€ then he can keep them.

I will grow long flowering electrifying sativas instead.

Straight onā€¦but thatā€™s the whole point.

Sam created Hazesā€¦Tom searched through his stock to get his haze, Iā€™m not sure Nevilleā€™s story but from what I recall itā€™s about the same as Tomsā€¦different stock, but the same story. Everything else is all Sam and his visionā€¦he created the first haze seeds, then spread them around the world with love :kissing_heart:, and instruction on how to cultivate themā€¦breed them into a multitude of diverse strainsā€¦all from his original haze seeds.

Somehow I doubt the Panamanian haze landraces I have in my collection fit into this narrative.

Itā€™s all good though, as we all know Foreigner invented kush ā„¢ and you can only grow them with my express written permission.

It all just sounds so silly to me.

Iā€™m just saying ā€œHazeā€ is a creationā€¦not a landrace, not a strain, but a creation with a specific point from a carefully selected parent population. :+1::+1:

Your Panamanian Haze landrace is either a haze cross, or someone stuck the name haze on it to sellā€¦for a our sakes I hope it is a landrace haze cross :grin:.

Sam didnā€™t create haze he got them from the haze brothers who grew in a greenhouse and mixed there good bag seed sativas year after year then gave them to sam who took them to the dutch so I have read in more the one article. Iā€™m sure they selected well.

Yes very much like the plant in question.

Iā€™m far more interested in a Colombian x Mexican or whatever than a slapped on label. Haze tells me nothing but Colombian x Mexican at least gives me something to work with.

Well, Sam was pretty explicit when he spread the first haze aroundā€¦he was teaching people how to steward and further develop the strainā€¦so he canā€™t claim proprietorship ship over what became of the seeds he gave outā€¦I mean thatā€™s what it was initially breed for and to create some dank hash plants!!!

Iā€™m taking a different approach and I want a commission on every plant clone and seed :joy:

I have the Original Haze as well as an Heirloom Haze from Golden Coast Genetics, some Thais, Laos, Afropips Malawi, and Sudanese Iā€™d be happy to contribute to a sativa project

Read my post about penny hazeā€¦I would like to start that grow upā€¦ little bit of prep work thoughā€¦your Haze contribution would have to be verified legit thoughā€¦:grin: Tell me what you think, itā€™s a big perpetual project which many people can join in on.

For me, haze is an expression. Growth structure, leafs, terp profile, high and bud structure. So when someone talks about a Thai haze, Iā€™ll image a mix of both expressions.

@Jimdoors

I would love to start this grow again, but like I said it is a lot of work. The main point being adding sativaā€™ss the icing on the cake so to speak. Part of the reason it was such a complicated project, is at the time there werenā€™t as many Hazes around so Sam and the haze brothers would first have to isolate and strengthen any haze line and then add in sativas in small doses, not overpowering the original haze but adding to it. Further as with all hazes, you are creating a hash plant so any addition of a sativa in a haze line must remain true to this. The line must be a complete hash plant, that is, it produces a smokable productā€¦not one to be mixed, like was typical at the time.
Hazes are unique to Samā€™s breeding style in the he created hash plantsā€¦he didnt created crosses or run elite cuts to produce hash but crafted an entire strain that was complete.

Haze is a genetic line not a expression, Iā€™ve seen people make the same statement about chem and og and thatā€™s just not how things work, genetics are real , the earth is round.

But, thatā€™s not the way itā€™s marketed, right?

Where is your documentation?

Well if this is going to get started I guess everybody who wants to would have to list what they are willing to start that they have and time frame when they could start them. Then we could discuss what pollen to send to who. I was going to purchase some thaiā€™s from zomia thinking Tiger tail #4 for next grow.
