In the Market for a New Tent?

Hello Everyone

As a new grower, I bought new grow tents for veg and flower. They are from Vivosun and purchased through Amazon. Vivosun advertised their tents were light proof, tear proof, and the zippers were quality. All of this were untrue.

A couple of days ago, I finished the ventilation and lights installation. I put my seedlings inside the veg tent, then zipped it up. As I stood back to pat myself on the back, I noticed the tent was lit up like Christmas. Every place the fabric was sewn together, there was a beam of light shooting out. Light also leaked from shut ports, vents, observation windows, all doors, and through the quality zippers. In addition the tent tore during installation, and the vents cannot be opened because they were not sewn flat. Thus, they will have to be duct taped to keep out light.

I took pictures, but did not see how to post them on this site. If anyone is interested in seeing them, please shoot me directions on how to upload pics. In the mean time, these tents should be avoided.

There really should be a warning about addicitve camping products rofl. :joy:

So they sell them as personal smoking rooms now too, with a light and filter to remove the odour from smoking, do they come with a little chair inside too. They will have fitted TVs and wifi next.

I use Secret Jardin brand. If you buy chinese, they will be chinese…

Mine are OR120 and DP120, maybe youcan look them up. Let’s remember, you get what you paid for. Return the tents to amazon, they will give you a refund immediately.

I have a Silverback personal toilet sized tent like the size a portable toilet at a festival or building site rofl.

The brand Silverback is owned/maufactured by my Local hydro store. I have no complaints with it very robust and light proof.

Yep I go to the toilet in the dark to test for light leaks lol.

You can see them all in the link. Never heard any complaints abuot the silverbacks.

Bay 6 is a cheaper version probably chinese ( I’m not 100% certain) as they also sell BAY 6 600w hps bulbs and ballasts very cheap.

I sorry if there is confusion. I tried to link the pictures to the post, but didn’t. Anyway, the pictures show the amount of light leaks. Everywhere a needle was inserted, there is a light leak because the needle was too large. The circular glow is from a port that was shut tight. The flare is light shining through the fabric. And the picture with the tape represents the tear in the tent.

Return it. Ask for a refund on it, say the product you got is not exactly as the one they advertise. Send them the pictures too. If you paid with paypal, you have a consumer guarantee of 180 days, six months that is. Buyer’s protection.

Wanna sell 'em? If so how much? I’m a dumpster diver, it’s my sport… I can make them work!..

You could mix some caulk with black paint. This should stop the light leak.

I would be kicking off regarding that as its not fit for purpose.

May as well have leds dotted on the inside on permanent on.

Madscientist has the right idea refund and demand they pay cost of return shipping.

I would not be attempting to fix that at all, send it back.

It is possible to make good, but why when you have paid for a good item that has not been provided

And if they want to know why you need dark tell them your a photographer and it was for developing film in the dark :sunglasses:

The quality tents have extra flaps to cover the zipper stitching, with velcro to keep it secure over zippers and dark

Hello everyone.

I called Vivosun. They agreed to refund my money and allow me to keep the tent. But, here is the problem. I am disabled, and it took six weeks to set up the tents, lighting, ventilation, and etc. If I replaced them, I would have to take it all down and start over. If I keep the tents, I could make it work with a heck of A LOT of effort.

My main reason for making the post was to protect others – especially the disabled. Vivosun offered to send me two new tents. I asked them if the replacements were the same as the tents already received. They did not know, and were not willing to check. Therefore, those tents are going to be shipped to someone. I shared my experience to make sure it was not one of us.
