Hey y’all - this will be a lame post - I’m currently in a non-legal state, don’t grow and don’t consume. I can’t because of my current career choice. But, when I retire in a few years I’m moving to a legal state and am looking so very forward to growing and partaking. I got interested after an almost 20 year hiatus and it blows my mind how far the genetics have come.

I got mostly crap weed when I was in college but did have that one friend that always had the dankest shit. Good times.

I currently grow pepper plants in coco and use hydro nutes. I know they don’t replicate cannabis very well but I’ve got it fairly dialed in and like to think I’ll be ok when it comes time to pop some real beans.

Hope y’all don’t mind me hanging out and creeping on your plants and soaking up the knowledge. I’m like the grade schooler that can’t go outside at recess, I just have to sit inside and watch for now.

Welcome, Vine
Plants ain’t that different, just a few adjustments as you go. I’m switching from AN to natural living soil and Irban Farm Nutrients 1 part veg 1 part Bloom useable in coco/soil and Hydro. Want a KISS way as I get more forgetful from medical issues and harder to lug pots around. Have helped that by using a wet to dry watering system that has my room locked in at two watering a week 8 gallons a shot, never more never less. I can lift all 3 gallon pots one handed on watering day. After they settle I dump and dry tray then cavitation air pockets in the sides to help shed root ends in smaller pots and plants indoors to 6 ft.

Sorry, hopped up on some space Purple Thai and thinking how to finish a damn plant in a SOLO CUP…don’t do it, this place will make you give away seeds, drop everything else you have between paper towels and put 20 strains in dirt at a time and a Jungle full of fat buds like Cheech’s cousin showed Chong…,seriously!!!

Hahahahaha…Welcome, Michigan here, we have best plant counts next to Alaska, but the weather Blows half the time!

ruderalis comes from the latin root word of ruder, which means rubble or debris. I was raised in an era when autoflower or ruderalis was a bad thing. I have seen a lot of people with some amazing looking plants, but have never (knowingly) smoked any weed that was a ruderalis cross, but I would imagine that the smoke is enjoyable.

Don’t even smoke it…make edibles…or suppositories… especially suppositories

@OleReynard yeah exactly it has adapted to environments all over the world but it is quite a different plant from cannabis (as you know) which is photo-period sensitive by nature. What I meant to say is that I know of a few breeders that had been playing with ruderalis from northern latitudes to see if they could better adapt Californian genetics to our temperate climate here.

@monkeyman I would wager that a good percentage of all autos have Rudy genetics, so if you have ever smoked a strain that has an auto derivative(not sure you would be able to tell with the caliber of micro grows currently), you may have smoked ALOT of Ruderalis derived cannabis and not even known. As far as I know, the first commercially available auto-flowering cannabis strain (Lowryder) in the world was mexi-sativa and Russian ruderalis. Most have followed suit since.

@Tappy @Gpaw It’s interesting stuff no doubt. For me currently, having a high plant count and less control is not as attractive or where my experience lies. When my license is back in order I will certainly pop a few in amongst the rest and see how they go. Definitely something that can sit in my vertical farm and do its thing which is where the interest is for me, not necessarily the main event ATM. I will certainly keep all of this mind

I was breeding with it clear back in the late 70"s.
Came from a defunct hemp making plant in Illinois. Still have access to some of its prodigy.

Would love to hear more about that. There is certainly lots around this way as well still, popular among the bush growers to have some Rudy, somewhere, in their breeding pool. -Thinking however we should move this to a Ruderalis Thread before someone else has to :smirk:

Welcome to OG anyone who was missed!!

Apparently the introduction thing is something here so here you go.
I am a long time grower, started back in the early 90’s. Moved to Colorado in 93’ and became infatuated with the plant and have been growing and breeding it ever since. I have had to take a few hiatus due to life sh!t, as happens to most of us. I am also a member on IC mag and RIU, probably a few others I cant remember.lol

I work as a Sommelier in the real world, last year I passed the court of master sommeliers “Advanced Exam” which is one of the hardest tests in the wine world. I had to take time off growing/chucking to study my ass off. Before that I had done several chucks.

Im fully a seed addict. I love breeding and collecting rare beans has been something I got hooked on a decade ago. I mostly am into anything Bodhi and I will probably spend most of my time lurking those threads.
I look forward to getting to know the gang over here, Im sure there will be a few familiar heads around. See ya round’ soon !
Best Regards Y’all !

Welcome to OG! Congratulations on passing that exam. I have a couple friends who are sommelier. They have discussed how hard it can be. Sounds like you have a ton of knowledge to share.
