So on this cola I have dried up I counted 25 branches on it ALONE. Now Imagine each one of those branches actually had some bud production instead of whatever the heck my siberian did lol.
Heres that nug Im talking about after chop
And this is Siberians flower production ( maybe it was just the bean I popped and or issues with the grow )
Having a plant that has the internodal spacing for flower like siberian… I mean 25 branches on a SINGLE cola is crazy. If they all stack flower… we could be talking a really insane yielder with neat genetics.
Hey man. Is that Siberian from “ The Real Seed Company” ? If so, You could contact Angus and he could maybe answer any questions you have. Might take awhile, He is a busy dude but he is a really nice guy. Also the web site states that they have grown that plant many times on their farm so they have practical experience.
This is a great question! My guess is it will be an intensive project though. The internode distance (or branches per cola) is likely a quantitative trait so unless there is gene linkage it may be difficult to recreate. If you were to classify it as categorical, say 0-5 branches, 6-10, etc it would likely be easier to select for branches per cola without marker data. I also wonder if, and suspect that, there is likely a trade off between flower size/production and branches per cola.
That being said. Any F1 from a siberian plant will likely have real vigorous growth due to hybrid vigor. If your plant is really a siberian, it should be pretty far genetically from modern strains so I would expect some pretty interesting.
