It’s all good. The Autos bud under any light schedule, I’m just going by the ‘suggested for best results’. Experimenting can happen down the road. lol
edit… Since it’s my first time with Autos, I’m not playing around with anything lol Everything is ‘by the book’ or as close to it as I can get… And I think I can get pretty damn close!
edit2… After I generate some seeds, and have more room to play around… ie; my butt not in a fire… well then I’ll give it go with several ideas.
I am still hesitant to grow autos …dont know why. I have auto seeds but have yet to start them been using photo periods for as long as I can remember. I’ll tell you this also …when I grew my herb as a teen they seemed to be much more resilient plants . I never had problems with them like I’ve had now. Maybe coincidence. But I will definently be watching this grow…maybe inspire me to finally jump off the fence and plant them auto beans
I transplant mine twice they start in solo cups wk 0 and 1 my cup in a cup deallies then into #1 nursery pots for wks 2 to 4 were they arē sexed and start preflower beginning wk 5 they go in 3 gallon grow bags key is minimal stress so ideally no transplant but that doesn’t work for my setup I use inserts basically in cups and nursery pots so as to attempt to not stress the root zone not perfect but it works for me I also lst them and somewhat lollipop them but not top don’t think it would work wll on fast autos
Yeah why not, I started a few, first time and keeping to the book as well. planted in the pot they will finish in, I have them outside and flowers showed in less than a month and considering abnormal low temperatures they are well and now robust and showing nice growth. So far so good
I did a run of a single bucket DWC Critical Purple Auto with a 24hr light period and it got HUUGE. Lesson learned to never do that again single bucket DWC because I was topping twice a day by the end and it was more of a nightmare than fun.
Update for day … oh hell, lol there’s a few different strains at different days/times, all in there together, so I’ll just say ‘update’!
I’m not going to post a lot of pics anymore, at least until things change and really start to happen. I posted a good bit so everyone can get a good idea of what’s going on there.
Everything is looking good, as it did yesterday, and the day before. lol
With the exception of the one AutoXtreme, after another day looking like that, it’s not going to ‘make a comeback’ lol So I pulled it! … RIP The new batch of AutoXtreme will be going into their permanent homes in another day or two, I’ll post pics of that when it happens.
I’ve noticed the exact same thing @Mr.Sparkle with the few I’ve been trying. Wasn’t sure if I was under feeding but they seemed so happy and everyone was that lighter color.
Yeah, I didn’t really pay attention to a bit of lighter color. But now, I see that. I thought maybe it was a bit ‘needier’ plant than the rest, no biggie. The first 2-3 weeks I tend to not give much nutes.
@Slick1 … I got to say this also about that ‘60 plant harvest’…
I was emptying everything since was in the process of shutting down the commercial end
of things, and thinning back so as to be within the legal limits for just personal use.
I dropped them, in two 30 plant batches, very early, and only a couple weeks apart, so as to basically have something going into the budroom, and didn’t much care about age/size… but more about getting the numbers down. I didn’t have the heart to just start chopping down plants.
I chopped them all early, at the same time, to make the budroom available for the new Autos.
I wasn’t very concerned about the yield I got, since it was to be designated ‘personal’ to last until I harvest the Autos. Those I will be concerned about the weight and appeal, lol since that’ll be sold to the Dispos…
edit… I still got 2-3 lbs out of it, so all good! lol plenty of personal smoke to last us until we start chopping the Autos. Plus the trim for hash. Which was just as much as the ‘usable’ bud lol
2-3 lbs at once is still a lot of trimming but definitely better than I was thinkin with that many plants. Did the trichomes have a chance to get cloudy at least? People always stress the trichomes and I go with it because I’m so small scale it’s no biggie to let them go a little longer, but I’ve never compared it to an early chop.
Naw, but the smoke will still ‘f’ you up… It was King Tut, Chendawg, and Sour D. I only took the bigger top buds off each, the rest went into the trim pile. The chop was 3-4 weeks early, but I had to make room lol When the family talked me into staying in biz, we changed gears back into ‘high’
It’s definitely an ‘up’ buzz nothing ‘couchlock’ to it. Unless you smoke a bit more, then you can get ‘lazy’ lol The later you chop (darker trichomes) the heavier/couchlock the buzz, early, or still clear trichs, the more energetic/up the buzz…
edit… this is the ‘general rule’ of things, not engraved in stone though lol there are strains that still give you a heavier/down buzz, even chopped early…ish
edit2… lol I actually prefer the more energetic/up buzz myself… makes me feel like doing things, while helping with any pain.
Might I suggest taking some top bud a bit early, say a couple weeks. Then compare the buzz to later chop. you might be pleasantly surprised.
edit… granted, you won’t get the weight that you might by letting them go longer. They really pack it on in the last couple weeks, but I think you’ll like the different buzz
You know I torture my plants a little with the training, I just started an auto under 12/12 and am switching it to 18/6 in flower, and am generally up for “experimentation” with them. Still never felt the impulse to just experiment with differently timed chops just to see the difference but it’s a good idea. I’ll do it for science!
I’m doing it for the first time right now.
I’m vaping a slightly early harvest from my Jamaican clone #1.
I’m due to take the tops off #2 & #6 this week. The plan is to let the base plants go another 4 weeks & then compare.
What ‘tweaked me onto this’ was when I harvested the seed run (I ran them 4 weeks longer), I smoked the tops and WOW There was something special!
Ok folks, here’s an update for yas lol
Day 46 on the 8 Snowryder and 2 Pink panama… according to my calculations there is about 44-45 days left to go or maybe a bit sooner, depending on how they looking as it gets closer…
now, onto the 5 Cinderevil from @Mr.Sparkle they’re doing well and growing nicely. As are the 7 AutoXtreme and AutoXtremeX from @Chronickyle …I did lose one of the Xtreme over the past couple days… SIDS is all I can figure, lol since everything got the same nutes/water.
And last but not least, the 60 Auto Xtreme from @Chronickyle, there were 56 that germinated, the others got tossed into the compost bin to do as they will…out of the 56, there were 3 that ‘didn’t make the cut’ so a total of 53 in 6" pots atm under 24hr lighting. in a couple weeks they’ll get moved into the 8 or 10" pots where they stay until harvested.
That’s it good people. I honestly don’t know how or why some have fell by the wayside! I say it’s a couple of things, some of the seedlings didn’t have very developed roots when I trans-potted them as well as my possibly giving a bit too much water? I dunno lol but that’s also the idea behind germinating so many at a time, if by chance some do die or not make it, well the whole batch isn’t a waste since there’s plenty in it!
