Johnnypotseed’s 3-ring circus - with autos, photos & sex…reversals, that is! (Part 1)

That’s right, according to @cannabliss and everything I’ve read on them…60 days seed to harvest. I think that might be a bit ‘early-ish’ and may let them go a bit longer, but close enough. Maybe another week or two max…

So you’ll be controlling the light cycle is that the strain that doesn’t auto or is it something else from mark ?

I put all of the Autos into the budroom where I have it on a 20 hr on and 4 hr off cycle. I’m thinking I may see if I can let the Sour 60 go an extra week or two to help build up some potency. I’ll know better when i see how the trichs are doing, color-wise…

All good  Just positive thinkin’ is all

Seems like many of the available autos are feminized, getting some true male pollen vs reversed pollen from a fem/auto seems to be a smart move. I do plan to reverse a black cream here and self / pollinate another. But that just perpetuates the feminized line. The autos are new for me as well, lol they really didn’t exist last time I grew. Now they really intrigue me, having been sent some when I wasn’t expecting 'em. Of course, I’ve perfected my cloning abilities, and it doesn’t do me diddly with autos, so now I actually WANT to make seeds.

I think you might enjoy the autos. I really need to run more, but I am beginning to understand the whole “more yield inside vs outside” with autos, assuming the “random” seeds I have going are from the same lineage. The 18/6 or 20/4 photoperiod really allows em to pack on more buds, and my autos that I put outside are nowhere near as impressive as the ones inside. Plus the other appeal to me is the short time from seed to harvest, you can breed several generations quicker than with photos

All good brother… I get a bit excited now when I see the words “regular” and “autoflower” together lately. LOL…

I’m sure the pollen will be flowin’ one day!

I wouldn’t dream of running these Autos outdoors, they’d never realize their true potential. I am loving them as to the speed, yes. But, I’m not giving up with all my old photoperiod strain mothers/clones! I have a couple I bred myself as well as strains that I’ve been running using clones only for over 20 years now. No way do these fall by the wayside. This is a simple effort to produce sellable flower as quickly as possible, nothing else. I’ll be keeping some of the Auto strains for future use in emergency situations like this, but I’ll be back to my photoperiods in just a few months.

I gotta get some of them in my tent then!

I wouldn’t dare think of giving up on those either! Each has its place I believe. Keeping those around is admirable and much needed! Too little of the “old school” stuff left, so many crosses these days. Tried and true and it works for you. Clones were difficult for me in the beginning, jiffy peat cubes sucked. But then I built my first aerocloner, and like you, now I just want a few good moms  Ya know exactly what to expect from them.

I would have loved to see the black cream I got, in a photo variety, but it wasn’t. That’s probably the only reason I wanted to try autos. Have a little baby GDP sprout going here thats photo, could cross with that and see what happens (bring that color over to photos? maybe and please?). I think I’m gonna have fun crossing things now, I’m like a kid who’s got a new toy. But I grow for personal, so I understand your reasoning as well.

Still… Wouldn’t mind having you as a neighbor

Once he clears out one of the spare rooms, I’m moving in

Hell, he doesn’t even have to clear a room, I’ll live in his ‘farm in a barn’ :joy:

I’ve done my time in the oven but I get down there once in a while to visit family. I’d like to see an honest to goodness weed farm without face paint and binoculars. :joy:

I’m definitely going to try your germination method. Really impressed.

My first little batch of autos is going pretty good I’ve been growing them just like I do everything else only difference is transplanted earlier than usual and didn’t break the root ball up

I also took a seedling and put it right into 12/12 it’s doing pretty well also

Damn 20 year long relationship with a plant I bet you her down to art

I have several that I’ve had going since then, '98-99White Rhino, '98-99Sour Diesel and '98-'99Skunk #1, never reversed, clones only all this time and some of them I let be mothers for 6-7 yrs, so not more than 3-5 gens of clones even. lol Then there’s the Frankenstein I bred in same timeframe, and Frankenstein’s Bride, bred her 10-11 yrs ago. I also have Romulan, Willy Nelson, Northern Lights, King Tut, Chemdawg, God’s Bud 2, and a few more. lol

btw, I just read back over some of this and saw your secondary question there, @ShiskaberrySavior … Nope, the seeds I got from Mark… those are outdoors, still in the pots I put them in to start their journey. I’m not even remotely interested in IF, they give me whatever they give… Autos was what they were supposed to be, and they’re not… nuff said!

edit… I have zero plans on doing anything with Mark’s seeds any time in the near future, if ever. I’ll have to think about that.

I recall you saying something about this somewhere, maybe here lol, and afterward I figured go with what you said, since you’ve already grown them and I haven’t! :sunglasses: :+1:
I was going to go with the trich color to determine the exact time of harvest.
