Just bought the HLG Blackbird

It looks like everything you could ask for on a remote. I’m afraid to see the price. It’s definitely a must have, especially if you have a hermetically sealed tent.

I’ll be looking forward to seeing how much labor you can save and how much efficiency you can squeeze out.

I have solar panels in mind too…

I opted out of the ac infinity tent. I really want a 3x3 due to my mobility having to sit to do work inside my tent. I also have no need to grow more inside. My access to outdoor growing. That’s one of the reasons I chose the Blackbird. I want more height than ac infinity offers. So I’m gonna pony up and get this Gorilla Tent comes with a free 12" extension I don’t think I will need it coming stock at 6’11" I am going to buy the ac infinity controller mounting plate and port it myself to the Gorilla 3x3x6’11"

What I’m seeing is 49.00 for the Mesh Lighting Adapter and 129.00 for the Access Point Hub

Factor in 3 tents and CO2. Mushrooms, y splits. A/C, humidifier. It seems more easy doable. I wonder if the AC water can be used to fill a humidifier?

It probably could be done somehow, but that might be pushing it lol

good thread
interested to see how the blackbird does.
I replaced a 1000W metal halide with an HLG600Bspec in my 7.5 x 7.5 x8fthigh veg room back in the fall of 2021. I only run it at 70% and it efficiently lights the entire room set about 6feet off the floor. Very Impressed to say the least. Took me a long time to be convinced that LED was finally where it needed to be to make me ditch my trusty Halides and HPS lighting. I’ll be retrofitting my flower rooms with HLG product as dollars permit.

Do y’all not worry about the direct UV exposure on your eyes or skin?

Watch the Dr. Bugbee video above. It specified what UV/A and UV/B is and their effects on human skin and eyes etc.

UVA facts and risks

  • UVA rays cause tanning, and the shorter wavelengths of UVA also cause sunburn. There is no such thing as a safe or healthy tan. UVA radiation is proven to contribute to the development of skin cancer.
  • UVA is connected to the “broad-spectrum protection” you see on the labels of sunscreen products. Early sunscreens only protected your skin from UVB rays, but once it was understood how dangerous UVA rays were, sunscreen manufacturers began adding ingredients to protect you from both UVB and UVA across this broader spectrum.
  • UVA rays, while slightly less intense than UVB, penetrate your skin more deeply. Exposure causes genetic damage to cells on the innermost part of your top layer of skin, where most skin cancers occur. The skin tries to prevent further damage by darkening, resulting in a tan. Over time, UVA also leads to premature aging and skin cancer.

You can also read where this isn’t just one time exposure, but UV has a cumulative effect, so every time you expose yourself to direct rays, you are causing more damage.

That’s why I always read to only have a 5-15 minute cycle at lights out or on and make sure you are NOT present when those lights are on.

Just something to think about y’all

We’re using the spectrum near visible light. And yes after working in the plants then driving all day in the sun, I have gotten a sunburn on my middle knuckle.

He goes over that information later in the video, and cross referencing the actual output of the UB/A bar and intended use at 30 watts.

It’s benign.

And read this: Treatment of vitamin D deficiency with UV light in patients with malabsorption syndromes: a case series - PMC

Not getting UV/A will lead to constipation.

You realize they only exposed them for 6 minutes in that study and the followup study did less than 10 minuted and that it’s not recommended for anyone with glaucoma, or history of skin issues to use therapy lamps with UV, and that the Mayo Clinic believes that anyone with bipolar disorder will have increased manic symptoms?

Anyway though, I’m sure it’s benign so I will :peace_symbol: out

Aaaand do you realize the study was on UV/B.

I used the same logic fallacy you used.
