I’ve used many early jalapeno seeds to get a room dialed in as well. You don’t have to grow them full term just get used to popping seed and adjusting inputs based on the way the plants look.

Ever wonder why Parmesan cheese is only produced in one small area despite everyone attempting to copy them( Reggiano) The county closest to them cannot even produce identical product and that’s nothing but a little aged milk haha 1000’s of factors influence almost every aspect of the expression that cannabis will show. Even going from indoors there to outdoors there you’d get difference in smells/wax production trichomes from the same cultivar. One of those kinda things that’s infinitely complex or as simple as getting some good pollen from a know producer( the plant not the grower 
)or even using brown bags full and selectively pollinating each branch of one plant to see how the seeds from that mix work, even a small plant can produce 1000’s of seeds. or using a room full of females and just dusting the room with a mixture 1-47 males haha Guess that’s the part that keeps if exciting is the variety.
