I posted a very similar spider to yours last September. Mine was a bit larger, perhaps 5 inches across, but it’s interesting that we both found them on wood…
Most of the lake is still iced over, (yeah, I know…) so the few areas of open water tend to congregate the raptors and other assorted wildlife. This eagle comes in fishing every day. Haven’t seen any Osprey yet, I always enjoy watching them fish, the way they hover like a helicopter and then dive bomb into the water. Anyway, here’s my morning eagle
Eagles are my favorite bird to see in the wild. They’re not common in VA but I’ve seen a few. Great picture!
