Have you ever spent any time around billy goats? They piss on their own head with some regularity when a female is in estrus. Makes 'em sexy!

I posted a very similar spider to yours last September. Mine was a bit larger, perhaps 5 inches across, but it’s interesting that we both found them on wood…
These pics are almost 20 years old, taken in my previous yard…
This is a large “Fishing Spider”.

It looked like that caterpillar was about to have a bad day, but these next 3 pics are shown in the order in which they were taken. It looks like the spider checked it out, then thought…“NOPE!”

Or maybe he/she just doesn’t like to eat in front of people

Most of the lake is still iced over, (yeah, I know…) so the few areas of open water tend to congregate the raptors and other assorted wildlife. This eagle comes in fishing every day. Haven’t seen any Osprey yet, I always enjoy watching them fish, the way they hover like a helicopter and then dive bomb into the water. Anyway, here’s my morning eagle

Eagles are my favorite bird to see in the wild. They’re not common in VA but I’ve seen a few. Great picture!
