Ok Iā€™ve heard about this trick years ago but never tried it ! Whatā€™s the scoop ?

That speeds up ripening!?! Thatā€™s crazy lol. Hurry up or youā€™ll get stabbed again :joy:

I keep looking at these MW

I have 3 different sizes like that one cellphone brand Cingular wireless I think it was haha itā€™s pretty neat actually - I will get a pic ā€¦ really canā€™t decide what 2 doā€¦ here is momma bear thickest mama jama in the bunchā€¦ pretty sure going 2 top and flower even though I said I wasnā€™t going toā€¦ smh

Haha not really speeds it up ; letā€™s it know it canā€™t bloom forever!

A friend of mine introduced me to girdling - have you heard it? I am not keen on that one

Iā€™ve heard of it but donā€™t remember what it is. Is it when you do a bunch of shallow cuts up the stem? Or am I thinking about collecting saps from trees lol

Equatorial Landrace that are out of place tend to continue blooming forever and everā€¦ the first times I get revegitation not knowing why ; little bananas form self pollinating many times unsuccessful leaving little micro seeds that pop when you smoke etcā€¦

I believe this came from Colombia where they used stem splitting and other hacking techniques to get their plants a proper finishing and bulking period avoiding the beady calyx looks

I am not too sure but the pictures I saw as the plant pretty much ripped in half :joy:

If you ever done mainline and accidentally split the stalk down the middle? Thatā€™s what it reminded me ofā€¦

I said if maybe they create some THCv or crazy 100% thc herb then I will try it lol

Stem splitting is just a basic way 2 induce senescence in these types of plants. As far as using this technique to improve hybrids and others I donā€™t see a benefit

Girdling is a technique in forestry where you make a shallow cut all the way around the tree that severs the cambium layer, essentially leaving it as a dead standing tree. The outer cambium is the only area where the plant transports itā€™s life fluids. Xylem and floem. Iā€™m no expert, but weā€™ve been girdling trees on the land all summer so they will season standing up. Less rotting on the ground.

Iā€™m curious how girdling is applied in this field. Probably just signals senescence.

Iā€™m only on my second round of plants after 12 years , so much is soo new to me still lol. But I have mainline trained 4 plants recently, over vegged them just like all my other plants. Havenā€™t split one yet lol

Yes this is a better explaination - Thank u haha my friend is a very smart science person I donā€™t do their visions justice

Those are some tall girls! Interesting lights also -

Yes I wouldnā€™t reccomend splitting the stalk down the middle it is quite the shock! Always an accident when it happened pushing the plantā€¦ oopsie :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I just know what rubs off from my very intelligent wife. Sheā€™s all about nature and the science behind it. Iā€™d be lost without her. Or maybe more mystified. Haha

What are the blue / yellow / orange bulbs? Are majority of them the same spectrum?

Not speaking for @Seamonkey84 , but I think uv bulbs. Only because Iā€™ve asked b4.

Haha I think girls tend to be the more intuitive beings. As you can tell I butchered the explaination pretty good

I was thinking maybe UV bulb but the orange also?

Yeah. Pretty sure itā€™s just a different brand. Reptile bulb.

Yep, the cfl are reptile uvb bulbs, that one blue one is a different brand, also lower uv output for the plants that grow right up to it. The led bulbs are a near 50/50 blend of 2700k and 5000k off the shelf led light bulbs with the plastic domes removed

I ended up way over vegging trying to get it out of deficiency, they started out in the 16oz manifold challenge lol. The rest of my plantsā€¦ over veg from not having time to up pot them all at once and flipping :man_facepalming:

Hellz yeah -

UVB is important. Are u leaving them on the whole time are they nicer and mellow or do you have to supplement them on a schedule?

They are on all the time. theyā€™re the lower wattage ā€œtropicalā€ version. my coworker that does a lot with other house plans says the desert version would be too much or would need to be put on a timer. It could easily burn the plant unless they are hardened off, like when putting plants outdoors. Iā€™m using them as directed for reptiles to get enough uvb for vitamin D development. These 13w cfl have a recommended range of about 6-8ā€ from the lizards, which is the distance I keep the plants from the LEDs anyway.
