I’m no Betty Crocker but here’s my first blueberry pie

Looks yummy!!! Even though Thanksgiving is tomorrow I won’t be celebrating til Sat so everyone can come …sucks because I have tomorrow off, working 8-5pm Friday and work til 4pm Saturday then have Sunday off and back to graveyard on Monday - Woo Hoo!!! Its getting through these next few days so my plan is to prep as much as I can tomorrow. Friday night, set up the turkey in my new self basting roaster - put it on a light timer to start/shut off by a preset time… do the same for a crockpot of cocktail weines in bbq sauce and pineapple and a smaller one of spinach dip then I can have my youngest sons dad do the baking for yams, green bean casserole, extra stuffing, mash potato’s. Once I get home then its a matter of baking/warm up the bread and set everything out

That’s how I do it. My man and I prepped all the veggies and fruit that goes in the stuffing or cooks with the turkey, I always peel the potatoes, cut them up and stick them on the stove covered in water the night before too. Ready to just turn on the burner. As long as they are in the water they won’t oxidize. Time saver tip… And I made the 2 pies today. Should be easy peesy tmw.

Hey, just realized that this is the first Thankgiving where I knew that I am part American Indian. I get to celebrate my people coming to America to kill my people! Good times!

Looks great. Have never been able to bake a pie like that, pumpkin like pies, sure, but not fruit pies. They either burn on the bottom and the top is raw, or the top gets burnt and the bottom is raw.

Well, I’m actually stranded here for a bit. My brakes went out in town today and nobody was willing to work on it this afternoon. I had to leave it in town. But, I have some food and beer and wine and lots of pot, so I will forget about it all easily… except for that Blueberry pie… I’m cooking a frozen pot pie atm and I’m pretending the smell coming from the kitchen is your Blueberry pie.

I’m gonna have fun tomorrow, believe me! So glad I met you all and super thankful for that. I go thorough days a little easier knowing so many other people out there are as cool as all of you.

@WMoon518 this recipe had me cook it at 425 for 10 mins first then reduce oven to 350 for the last 40 mins. Sure hope it’s done. It seemed like it, I could see it bubbling through the top.
@GMan hoping for a miracle that my tastebuds comes back tomorrow. My sniffer is gone too, so I barely even got to smell the pie. I have no doubt that you will find a way to entertain yourself despite being stranded. Sounds like you have all the right supplies.

Well, I got my flu shot the day or so before the newspaper was reporting how bad the flu was hitting out county. So that was good. But I swear, the first time ever, I think I got sick from the shot. Next morning I had these weird sniffles from hell, and went on to feel basically shitty for 3-4 days… I always hear people say it happens but I never had a problem.
I could have just as easily picked up a bug while at my doctors office. Much more likely probably. Glad I got it after seeing the paper!
Best vibes on the healing, @Meesh… sounds like you got it bad. Drink lots of gatorade stuff! My biggest problem around here is staying hydrated. I’m the worst for drinking water all day.
