Yep, we always got one American cheese box and one cheddar cheese box. I think it was about the best thing they gave out…….

That was real cheese though and it was good.

Now they probably give out this

It is back when solutions to a problem made sense. Oh you don’t have enough food to feed your family every month. Well here ya go: food for your family. Not food stamps, those thing are tasteless …….

Very true. And you could do lots with it too. Now they give expired food, food stamps, vouchers etc. but at the prices nowadays what does it even get you? 4 bags of groceries yesterday cost me 143$ no joke :man_facepalming:t2:

Food prices now are ridiculous. No wonder kids are starving ………

Exactly, it’s absolutely ludicrous! Never ceases to amaze me, and I was reading yesterday about drastic potential increases next year! We can only take so much , what a world! :man_facepalming:t2:

Trader Joes has only gone up slightly in price. A lot of grocery stores price gouge. I saw it during the pandemic. Suddenly meat went from 2-3 a lb to 6-8 a lb. Then it went back down at some stores but not others. Just dont shop at those stores.

Out here at least it seems to be the norm sadly. I’ve tried shopping around , all I did was waste gas , of course there are slight differences but not enough to do much especially when they are at the exact opposite ends of town. And the only deals are the frozen , processed crap. Good luck going to the butcher over here :man_facepalming:t2: 27$ per decent steak :cut_of_meat:, but I did find chicken breasts on sale. Wish I still lived on a farm

Growing up my dad was a hunter and fisherman. We lived off of venison, turkey, fish and other wild game. Being a minister he also had a lot of folks that farmed so we usually had chicken and a bunch of produce. A lot of people farmed back then, now only a very small percentage do so. I know I’ve plucked my share of turkeys and chickens. I grew up butchering our own meat.
It’s a whole different world………

I’ve always said I was meant to be a trapper, hunter/fisherman living in the wilds of Alaska, tbh it’s still a dream but I’m not getting any younger. I sit and often reminisce about the months I’ve spent in the middle of nowhere with only a fire, some rice, water etc. and fended for myself just fine. Life has a funny way of humbling us and these last few years have been real humbling to say the very least.

What’s really cool is the Oval office desk he’s resting on is made from HMS Resolute.

Pretty cool story about that desk. English expedition trapped in ice, Abandoned, later found after thaw by American whaling ship. Repaired and returned to England. In return Queen Elizabeth had the desk made from the Oak timbers of that ship after decommissioning it and presented it to our President back in 1880.

If only inanimate objects could speak.

That’s insane, there isn’t even enough room to walk between the buildings when they do build plus imagine the taxes. I’ll take country the life and look at the corn and trees instead
