MoBilly's greenroom (Back in the Saddle Again)

With us, it was just that one real bad moment. Lots of rain, lightning… But the wind during that one time had the house rocking I tell ya! I’ve been out picking up branches and putting things back in order around here. This made me decide to take out my big oak in the front yard. It’s big enough to take out half of my living room if it decided to go horizontal on me.

Bummer for that… I love oaks! :thinking:I thought oaks had super strong roots and don’t fall over easily?
It sounds like you havr a nice spot on a ridge so you shouldn’t easily get flooded. Yet an overflowing pond can definitely be a cause for concern :grimacing: I hope this weather is done

I see you selling live edge oak slab tables for thousands :sunglasses:

Dad built the pond with an overflow that feeds out the side of the pond and out into the field. The dike is 50’ wide so it would take a lot to breach that. The old man built things to last.

I actually thought about building some tabletops out of the thing. I’m guessing it’ll make a 35" cant.

Wow, sounds like a huge project! Glad to know there was no danger to you or your house.

You can sell them to all the people from the city that need to furnish a second home or trendy restaurant in the city. Don’t worry I have a ton of ideas for your time😂

My big plans are to clean up the yard , and cut my blackberry bushes back to manageable size. They’re out of hand and not producing like they should.

We put out thorn-less blackberry plants two years back. They are looking good this year. I think we should get a good harvest this year. They spread out nicely last year.

Them things will do nothing but spread! lol you can get rid of em, but they’ll just keep coming back. Ask me how I know? lol

Oh wait lol I see ‘thornless’… now, of course!
lol disregard me previous statement cuz. Thornless aren’t as invasive as reg blackberry

Just a little better and I’d be taking my wife out to a dance club… if there was one within 100 miles of here. lol

I kinda wish I put in thornless, these are 25 years old, they’ll tear you up, but the berries are excellent.

I dug 6-7 feet deep trying to kill the damned things but they still came back. Just a little piece of root is enough for those wretched plants to spread.

Like a Yucca plant! I HATE those with a deep passion!

I’ve burned them down, sprayed them with 3way landscape broad leaf weed killer they come back. I don’t want to get rid of them, I just lost control of them.
