@PSam was actually the one along with BadKittySmiles that got me making green dragon originally. I have a hair straightener…well technically a hair wave thing with square slots in one side, but it has temperature control, so maybe I can get enough weight on it to press it maybe
Edit: correction it’s Missing and I have no way to press that I know of anymore. Ugh.
I found it again last night. If you press fresh flowers once it’s left out to dry it leaves an acceptable amount of oil behind. Otherwise it looks like milky water. I’ll be getting a press eventually.
Anyways on to my update: water was given and both pots had runoff. Zelda’s at about 30% or so. It took 1.5 gallons to get that much runoff to leave the pot.
The Lucky’s had the usual amount of runoff at about 15-20% and look pretty happy to me.
The males are doing pretty well out there. Giving me hope I may see some red/purple girls in late flower.
The potato plant is just making sprouts all over. I’ll have to pick the winner once they all get bigger.
I checked on Rosie and I wasn’t sure how she was doing. I dug into the soil around her stem once I gave her slight nudge seeing she wasn’t just loose in the soil. I saw a root nub on one side and covered her back up. She is just looking nasty😅
Tulip only had a couple balls today, but she’s making new calyxes,so I have hope she’s quitting it now. Worst case I found out how I can press her fresh worst case scenario
I tried the hair straightener thing once…clamps are awesome though hair straighteners can only take so much pressure before they snap and freezer paper is not a good substitute a 120.00 lesson I am not too keen on trying again without proper equipment though I hear its works great in a pinch
They are doing much better than expected for sure just don’t get too hopeful for colors like theirs on the girls as theirs is cold induced and have yet to see any in journals
What do you mean by pick the winner? Its been awhile since I have grown potato’s though iirc its burying their foliage from time to time so they make more potato’s in each layer
7’s girl clones…they are ready to be up potted again though trying to hold them off another week as this cabinet is full again and so are my windowsills
Already watered before I left for work this morning.
The potatoes I meant as in the sprouts are from 1 seed potato. It only needs 1 at a 4" distance from each other.
I don’t have experience in growing potatoes. Just lifelong research to learn about potatoes and how they behave in different soil types and nutrient options. We have so many varieties from them adapting to different soil around the world. I can’t pick one, but my favorite combo is Yukon gold and russet red potatoes. I’ve always craved what I’m deficient in anyways and this 2 always are what I’m lacking or I just really love potatoes . I’m still picky with them and if they don’t taste right or have a sour note I usually stop eating them. While solanine poisoning isn’t easy as an adult I’m not chancing it.
I love this combo journal! Good on you @MomOnTheRun for helping Oni out. People like you are what makes OG such a fantastic community. I can’t wait to see what it is exactly that’s being used here. If it’s been explained already and I missed it please let me know where.
If you mean the strains we’re growing MOTR can cover her end, but on my end I’m growing Lucky 7. I have other strains too, but Tulip is a bagseed from a GSC bud I smoked last year. Zelda is from @ModicumGenes and I’m not 100% on the lineage anymore.
The only thing that has been revealed so far is the seed starter mix:
3 parts sunsshine mix #4
2 parts earthworm castings (ewc)
1 part vermicilite
1/8 tsp kelp meal per cup of mix
Til the end, the rest will remain a mystery though I will say, I only use these nutrients when starting a new batch of soil to give the plants what hasn’t been released until the 2nd run or 90 days before use
Somehow Tulip has quit it so far as I can tell. Any existing growth continued to grow as they started. Nanners pop out of some branches about Midway up the stem. Only 1 nanner
spot today and no balls grown. Though a suspiciously large calyx has formed. I put her outside for a half hour while I was getting myself ready. I’m sure she appreciates it especially now that she’s trying to become a she again.
The Lucky’s are all doing great Today. The males have resumed growth in full as yesterday those tops were just emerging yesterday and last night after I replaced the water for them.
Rosie might be done for. Something is eating my plants outside and she’s bald now, but I see vibrant green growth poking out, so who knows. Regardless maybe the solanine in the potato leaves helped keep them away from the Lucky’s IDK.
Last fall all of our potatoe plants started falling over. Just before harvest. So we bumped up harvest date. As I was digging them up little rodents started flying out of the garden about a foot beneath soil. Voles took a single bite out of 95 percent of our potatoes. Just one bite on most. Ruined my whole crop. Trapped a few but that made them dig up our lawn. Only way I was able to stop them was by flooding their tunnels with water. Dont like killing animals but taking one bite out of every potatoe was too much for me. Either they hated being wet or they drowned. Either way they havent been back.
As for the potato I’m not really concerned with a large yeild of them. Just as is I’ll get a good amount of them. The soil is well draining and not really compacted at all.
The basil was thirsty. I watered it after the pics were taken. I should be home before lights out for a update today.
Good news is I’m no longer pain and I got used to my job. I’m actually faster at it and better at it than my trainer:rofl: he leaves food on the dishes and I’m leaving them spotless and food safe. Long story short if I’m not washing dishes there avoid eating at my work LoL
Rosie is Dead officially. Whatever ate her leaves finished her off and all roots that were forming receded. I have up on her finally. She was brown and dead after that. Ah well. Trial and error isn’t proper without both😅
Penny and Babs both look really good, but tbh I can’t see any difference between them now and a few days ago. They seem to be stuck here or I’ve been too busy to get a good look. IDK
Bugs isn’t doing that well. I came home yesterday to find his lower leaves shriveled up and lifeless. They’ve always been drooping, so not shocking.
The Basil was still drooping and thirsty. I gave it enough to cause runoff with some fish fertilizer in the water as I want it to keep on veg as long as I can manage.
Good news: Tulip is no longer making any balls or bananas for whatever reason. It does appear she got pollinated though as those swollen calyxes I took one off and broke open to find a tiny micro seed inside starting to form.
Since I’m already popping all the plants info I may as well add one for Zelda as well. The lockout she has appears to have turned back into a nitrogen toxicity as the claws came back. Definitely not something I can explain whatsoever.
Bugs already opened up one of them. It’s possible that tulip got pollinated by Bugs. Also more likely it was when I was pruning off the make parts she got pollinated then too. It’s a mystery LoL. She’s back to calyx development instead of making pods. Seems she likes the kitchen actually. It must get enough light to keep her happy.
The potato plants are having a growth explosion today.
I’ll be ordering a new light on Friday. It’s a Amazon light, but it’s all I can afford to add for now. I can’t start my next grow until I move out I’m being told. I’ll have to keep this next one secret as moving them when they’re small will be easier. I’ll be saving up at the soonest opportunity to get my own place. I finally have enough to live on my own nearby even it’ll be way safer once I have my own place. I’ll just have to invest into a proper setup for all stages to maximize yields. Preferably I’ll have my place by August anyways. I’d hope it won’t take that long. I’ll be living with my fiance. Split cost will make it much easier and faster to get the down payment.
Hi brother.Still loving your mentored grow…
I’d start looking around your nearby petrol stations/supermarkets/local stores and see if you can find a couple of crates that the bakery deliver their bread on. Those things are very handy around the home and garden
Overgrow the world!
