Go forth and multiply
I like that. We know something happened . we have children !
Hey thanks for checking in!
I think things are going ok… No idea how many seeds are in here.
I am about 6 weeks into pollination, not sure how much longer I will need to wait, but it’s probably a while.
Here is tent 1:
Tent 2:
For some reason the clones I kept are way frostier than the first run of the plants:
Pretty much all of them have much more frost. I’m not sure if that’s normal for seeded plants or if I dialed the system in a bit more or what
O yea!!! Sweet.
Yoooo how do I know when the seeds are done LOL…
Pollinated about 9 weeks ago for a week, plants are 12 weeks into flower total. Some plants are looking very done…
I keep waiting for them to start dropping seeds but I’m starting to think that will not happen.
Should be done. If you pull a few out, how do they look ?
I’ll try to pull out a couple tomorrow and get pics.
I have seen signs of seeds in the plants (I think), but no idea where they are at maturity wise.
I find 5 weeks does it but yes pull a few out and check
Well they’ve been flowering about 90 days LOL… Admittedly I haven’t had capacity to really care for them lately.
A testament to flood and drain as a very hands off system.
I’ve literally been spending like 20 minutes once every 10 days to drain and refill the reservoirs…
Plants are throwing bananas now as they are way past done… Gonna have to chop them all this week, which will be hellish…
I intend to not use the bud at all I don’t think. It will likely be fairly poor quality.
Anyways I’m rambling incessantly, here is a seed:
Yes that looks like a seed alright.
If you’re too lazy/not invested in the smoke then shuck all the seeds and shake the refuse through a 160u bubble bag.
Takes 5 minutes and turns nothing into something.
Well I chopped them down.
14 plants that seem to be fairly full of seeds:
Going to let them hang at least a couple weeks until they are super dry.
Humidity is about 45% in that room so they should dry out.
Should have at least some seeds of:
- Durban x Super Lemon Haze
- Durban x Trainwreck
- Durban x Power Plant
- Durban x 2 Other Durbans
The Durban I chose as the donor was a purple plant with overall intense and pleasant aromas. The high was nearly 100% Sativa and somewhat on the mild side. The plant finished in 8 weeks and stayed fairly compact.
I’m interested to see what the crosses will all be like, but it might be quite a while before I can get into anything again. This has been a long 9 months lol… I totally understand why seeds are 10$ each. Breeding plants across multiple generations carefully selecting from way more plants than I can even reasonably grow has to be quite an undertaking.
They look great. Isn’t the power plant also Durban based? I had one years ago that was.
I think they probably share some genetics. I’m not sure honestly, but supposedly they both have African landrace as a parent.
The power plant in this case was pretty different in structure and flowering time, but had similar aromas.
I think the one I had was a Durban x skunk1 but I’m not totally sure.
In this case the Durban was from Dutch Passion and I would recommend it for sure. The Power Plant was Royal Queen and it was also solid. I think I grew at least 5 of each initially and whittled it down from there.
Dutch Passion Durban
Highly uniform plants in shape, flowering time and aroma. 50% were purple. Finished in 7-8 weeks stayed compact. Nice mild sativa high with no drowsiness.
Royal Queen Power Plant
Super vigorous, medium to large plants. Most plants were similar. Some plants were a little too leafy, but the clone I chose had great flower to leaf ratio. Took 10-11 weeks to flower, but overall a great plant to grow. Potent soaring intense sativa high, but still very pleasant.
Smell of both is hard to explain but they both have that weird licorice bug spray burning citrus thing going on. I usually associate it with Durban.
Yes I would totally agree with weird licorice.
Thank you! Hope you are right lol… I definitely had some seeds that looked legit fall out as I was hanging them. So hopefully that’s an indication that they are full of them
Still letting plants hang until they are so dry they are basically dust
I like mine in the beginning. The green hit. Then I like it dry. Some of my friends are the same way.
Thanks to @Pigeonman for the help with seed harvesting I finally think I can finish this up…
9 more plants to go.
