My 1st Diary of 2023

Week #30… Mama plants are coming down the home stretch, beginning to fade as the buds get fatter. They spent a lot of time trying to get tall, then they started to bend over as they got heavier. The buds aren’t as big as I hoped… maybe it’s been too warm or maybe it’s because they were a little late getting repotted. I don’t know… but the first cut clones are getting fatter! So it will be ok. It won’t be much longer until harvest time!

1st pic are the Mamas:

#2 Closeup of Mama buds:

#3 Clones:

#4 Closeup of clone’s buds:

In the other room, six plants went from 1gal pots to cat buckets, and all but two of the babies in 32oz cups got promoted to 1gal pots.

We had a SURPRISE this week… when I up-potted one of the plants, I discovered that it had a tiny plant growing next to it. I don’t put two clones in the same container, so this must’ve been a clipping that fell down in the dirt, and decided to grow on its own.

Originally, I thought it was attached to the bigger plant next to it, but once I got it out of the dirt, I discovered it was a separate plant and had its own little root system. So we have a new baby!

31st week: some of the mama plants are entering the fade phase and the buds are getting heavy enough to bend them over, so they may not look as tall:

It takes a second pic to show all 12:

Remember the new babies that just got promoted to the grow room a couple of weeks ago? I think they like their new 12/12 light cycle! They are touching the light fixture! I’ve never had one grow that tall before!! I think 2024 is going to be a very good year!!!

The first-cut clones actually have bigger buds than their mamas and are now laying on top of each other as the weight bends them over:

In the other room, the six new cat buckets, the girls are getting bigger and could start flowering any day now…

All but two of the plants in the 32oz cups were promoted to gallon pots and most of the gallon girls are doing fine, except that they’re getting root bound and showing signs of stress. Unfortunately, I may lose a few of them as I just don’t have the room for anymore buckets until some of the mamas are harvested.

Ah, such is the circle of life. I’ll time them better next year:

I have some sweet news too… my babies had babies!!! I’m not talking about my human family, but when I lollipop-trimmed those six new cat-bucket plants, I stuck the trimmings in the dirt… figured, “WTF? Might as well take a chance… so now my clones have clones!!! I’m a grandma! These have rooted:

These are still green but not showing roots yet, so still hopeful:

Week 32: I thought I posted last week, but apparently, I forgot .

I began harvesting the mama plants last Sunday… here are some pictures I took last week:

Above: I had moved the mama plants in preparation for harvest… they skipped getting watered for a few days. Their buds are heavy and droopy. I sat most of them on the work table (pictured below):

The new plants in the back of the room are growing, getting big flowers.

These are the first clones. They were almost ready last week (group photo first, then a closeup of a bud):

Week 33: The original mama plants that were in drying mode were harvested this week:

Some of the plants in the 1 gal pots have been promoted to cat buckets and moved into the plant room, taking the space of the mama plants.

This is the final picture of the original mamas, look at them now;

Once the clones are harvested, the newly up-potted plants will be moved into the plant room.

You may notice that there are less plants in the gallon pots and the babies are all in 32oz cups now.

The circle of life keeps turning.

The clones are ready and will go into drying mode this week:

Week # 34:

The original “mama” plants are curing in the jar and the first batch of clones have been harvested and trimmed, and are currently resting in their drying boxes. There was one clone that I postponed cutting… even after going without watering for a few days, it had no faded leaves and wasn’t wilted… so I decided to keep it a little longer, water it and wait until it was really ready. I’m not sure why this one was slower to mature than the others… maybe it got less light because the others were so tall and bushy.

Anyway, I moved it over by the next set of clones that are growing well… getting more fat and sassy every day.

I moved more cat buckets from the smaller room into the plant room, so here is a picture of the 18 younger clones (plus my one little leftover) that took over the space where the mama plants once stood.

This is a close up of a 420-Carat plant that went nuts with growing tall at first. Now the buds are plumping up:

Here is what’s left in the smaller room… six cat buckets, about 12 in 1gallon pots that NEED to be in cat buckets… most of them will get up-potted this week, and the remaining babies in 32oz cups:

And here are the first clones in their drying boxes (I need to get more jars by the end of the week):

Week 35: The all the mamas have been dried, jarred and had their first days of curing. Still burping them almost every day, but they are basically ready.

The first batch of clones have also been harvested, dried and jarred… they are just beginning their curing period, so they’ll be ready soon. Here they are at the “finish line”:

I’m starting with pictures of the second room because I think the change in there is most dramatic… notice that there are no bucket plants in the floor:

All the plants in buckets were promoted to the plant room, and are now getting light on the 12/12 schedule. Also, there are no small-cup infants and the remaining 32oz-ers were repotted into gallon pots:

The plant room is currently very full… I moved the older, more mature plants to the front (including that really tall one), so now each set of six are front-to-back according to maturity level:

The one clone left from the first batch still hasn’t faded that much, but the microscope shows plenty of amber, so tonight it received its last water, and I will plan on harvesting it next weekend. It’s the one sitting up on the table on the right side of the picture. For some reason, the buds didn’t get very big and fluffy. It’s always puzzling why two clones cut from the same mama, watered the same, fertilized the same and loved the same can have two very different outcomes:

Another example… the tall girl. Had several clones of that strain, but none of the others grew tall and skinny like this one:

Above: I scooted the tall girl” over to the closet door where there’s a growth chart.

Below: She’s so tall, she was touching the light fixture. I had to get a 6’ plant stake from Home Depot to support her:

This is the other side of the room where the first clones used to sit, now full of the ones recently promoted to cat buckets. Only three left of the original clones that are still in the gallon pots! These are also more of the “first-cut” clones, they were slower growing than their sisters (The remaining plants in the gallon pots are clones OF clones!):

Once the “tall girl” and the other five in her section are harvested, more of the ones in the gallon pots can be “promoted” and move in.

Just a couple of glamour shots of a plant in the next six scheduled for impending harvest:

In the next few weeks I will be harvesting the last of these cat-bucket girls and now, I’m thinking of giving away my clippings and infants. Send me a message if you’d like to discuss it. I am no longer able to work this hard. Message me for info.

My strains are:
420 Carats
Limoncello Haze
Mother of All Buds
White Widow Extreme.

Only a few more entries and my Diary for 2023 will be done.

Looks like a plant party going on in there. Props :sunglasses: :metal: :peace_symbol:

Week 36: It appears that I missed making a post last week. On Sunday the 10th, I harvested the leftover plant from the first batch, and the front six clones including the tall girl. I didn’t take any pictures after I moved the others forward and put the six plants from the second room in the back.

I did take a couple of closeup pictures of the ones that were harvested:

It’s a thing of beauty.

Week 37:

I spent most of last week in bed sick, but I’m better today, so I took new pictures.

The row has been moved forward and six new, younger plants were added to the back of the room… as you can see, some are getting really tall and the front six are getting fat, fluffy buds:

These are the next ones that just came over from the second room. The three smallest ones are just visiting for a day or two, and then they will go back into the second room. They aren’t quite old enough to be in 12/12 yet, but I needed to use the second room for other things.

Below: these are the clones from the second room that are also just visiting. Notice the new infants on the right side. These just got promoted from the kitchen nursery because they now have their own roots.

I am hoping to find good homes for them since I am trying to step back from growing and hope to be done by the time all the plants in the cat buckets have been harvested.

Well, that’s all for today. It looks like I may be using my six-foot tall plant stake for another plant!

Thanks for stopping by.

Week 38:

The front six plants will be ready to harvest soon. Here are a couple of the buds:

This one is so long, I had to turn the camera sideways to fit it in the frame:

This one has a nice grouping:

Here is the right side of the room full of clone plants:

In the left side of the room, four of the youngest plants are all flowering now:

As soon as the next plants are harvested, these will move to the back of the room where they will be directly under the lights.

In the second room, three babies in buckets are coming along:

Up on top of the table, the youn’uns are growing bigger everyday. Several infants got bigger pots this week:

I will probably only continue this diary for another couple of weeks because all of the original mother plants have been harvested and cured and everything that’s left in the big room are first cut clones from the mamas and they will all be finishing up soon. In the smaller room we are now getting into the clones of clones, and if I continue going in the same way, this could go on forever.

So I’ll keep going until most of the first cut clones are harvested and then I will close this diary.

I started this grow on January 1, and now we’re in late September, and I expect that all the clones will be harvested by Thanksgiving, give or take. I am not starting any more clippings and I may end up giving away many of my smallest plants because I am strongly considering stepping away from growing for a while.

If anyone is within driving distance of the Kansas City area and would like to adopt some young plants, please message me.

Week #39 for my grow… the clones are getting taller and plumping up. I thought the next six would be ready for the drying phase, but after using my new microscope, I can see only a few dots of amber, so they get water for at least one more week, possibly two, then they should be ready to skip getting water. Some of them have become tall enough to need plant stakes.

Right side of room:

Left side young plants are flowering well now:

2nd room:

I’m still looking for someone to adopt the babies on the table. I need to step back from growing and would like to find them a good home.

Thanks for visiting.

You have a lot going on. Hope you find homes for those ones that are making it to busy for you. Jungle in there. :sunglasses: :metal:

Week #40:

The front 8 plants from the right side of the room have been moved to the left side (away from the bright lights). They are entering the drying phase. After they’ve gone without water for a few days, they will be harvested:

Here are a couple of bud-beauty shots. I finally got some big buds this time:

The four smaller plants have been moved to the back of the room on the right side, under the bright lights. You can see how the plants get smaller as the rows go towards the back:

Five more plants were up-potted from the gallon pots into the 5-gallon cat buckets. These are already starting to flower, so they’ll go in the big room after those first 8 are harvested.

Several of the babies will get bigger containers later this week:

Week #41:

The circle of life keeps spinning… the 8 from last week have been cut down and are now drying in boxes… they will be trimmed and jarred this week. Four more plants have matured enough to get some amber, so they have been moved to the left side of the room and will start the drying phase tonight and will be harvested by Friday:

This has left some spaces on the right side of the room. I will adjust the positions in a day or two:

In the other room, they are already starting to flower, so once I clean up in the main room, I’ll bring these recently-up-potted girls over to begin their 12/12 cycle under higher light:

Once they have moved out, I will have more space available (and cat buckets) to up-pot more of these younger ones. They sure need it cuz they’re getting root-bound in their gallon pots!

We are now raising the clones of clones. I wanted to see how many generations I could create, but I’m still trying to find someone to adopt some of these… I need to step back from growing for awhile and I don’t have the heart to kill them:

Week 42:

Several plants were harvested this week and are drying now, ready for jars. I did move a few younger plants from the second room into the back of this room. They are the “second-cut” clones from the mama plants… (the second time I trimmed the branches). You can see that the ones in black are just beginning to flower, compared to the first-cut clones in front, that are nearly ready to be chopped:

The left side of the room is now empty. In the next week or two, the last of the first-cut clones will be harvested (and I’ll probably stop posting these updates at that point):

There are only two clones in cat buckets in the second room now, and today, I noticed a few hairs, so they are beginning to flower (finally), and will be moved across the hall soon. The plants in the black one-gallon pots in front should be up-potted into cat buckets this week:

This is one of our top colas:

You can see the ruler under it… I think I’m finally getting the hang of this!!

Just a couple more posts and my diary for this year will be complete!

Week 43:

This was a busy week! Six of the clones were put into drying mode and harvested. Their branches are now in drying boxes and will be trimmed in a few days then dried and jarred.

I finally got enough space and cat buckets to up-pot the plants in 1-gallon pots (the clones of clones), and OMG were they root bound!! I gave them a little fert, water and moved them all into the plant room.

So now the right side has plants in various stages of flower lined up:

The left side is empty:

Thanks to a friend adopting all my youngest plants, as well as up-potting the bigger ones and moving them across the hall, my second room now has no more plants and can go back to being my “playroom”… finally:

Yay! Needs a little cleaning, but I am happy to be coming down to the end.

Week #44:

We are getting closer to the end every week.

These are my last plants for a while. Out of the front plants, three of them are the last of the second-cut clone’s trimmed from the original moms. The remaining plants are clones of the clones. I took a clipping from each one and put in the fridge, but they may not get started in time. (The ones I trimmed previously were in there too long and were no longer viable).

Here’s one that should be fat and sassy at the end… coming along nicely:

Second room… no longer my extended plant room… reverted back to a playroom (Yay!!):

Week 45:

Sorry I’m late!

Had a little scare this weekend when I thought two of my girls were gonna be Hermies. I have teeny-tiny bumps growing in each bud of this strain, so I posted elsewhere on Sunday asking for opinions. Mostly the responses were to take better pictures, but the general consensus was they were females. There are no indications of boy parts on the stems or crotches, and after a few more days of growing, I’m 99% convinced they’re still female.

Here are the pictures I took Sunday: (with and without the bumps circled):

I will take some new pics on Sunday for comparison.

Week 48:

I missed the last couple of weeks… sorry… it’s just been madness around here.

I waited and watched those strange little bumps on Pixie’s clones, and eventually, they seemed to go away, or were replaced by more regular-looking hairs. I was still suspicious, so I kept checking it very closely every day, a few days later, I noticed something that I thought might be Nanners. So I called my friend and mentor and asked him to come over and take a look at them, but he wasn’t available until Thursday.

By the time he was able to take a close look at them, I was already 99% convinced that at least one of them had hermied, and 75% sure the other one did too, since they were both cut off the same mama. (remember, I said that the mama had hermied about four or five days before she was due to be harvested? So I was really paying close attention to these two plants!)

He verified that he saw nanners too, so SNIP SNIP. They were cut down. All of the buds were very small, so I don’t know if they will be potent enough, but I’m drying them, and my friend will give it a try. The worst that can happen is that I end up throwing away two trays of tiny buds that were too young to produce much sugar.

It was really strange, there were never any bumps or indications of male parts on the branches, trunk, or in the crotch areas! I did not see any mature pollen balls, So I think I caught it early enough.

So now my room has a little more space at the far end. I don’t know if you can tell from this picture, But there is some space between the last cat buckets and the wall. I suspect a few more plants will be ready to harvest before Christmas, so the room will get emptier by the end of the year. The whole harvest should be done by mid to end January.

Note: These plants have been very slow due to the fact that they were root bound for such a long time. The buds may never get larger than popcorn size, and there may be more Hermes before it’s over, so all I can do is watch and wait. Stay tuned!

Week 49:

I took the picture on time, but forgot to post it until today.

Nothing much changed… the plants are getting bigger every day, and this week, I gave them a little dose of Recharge, my mentor’s secret ingredient. About six of them are almost ready to start their drying process in preparation for harvest.

They all enjoyed the Recharge and got visibly bigger since the dose.
