My Bubble hash making tech

Ahaaaaaa, that was my next question so thanks for answering that. I meant how many times do you rewash and screen it but it sounds like you only do it once. Is that right? If so, wow! to get that result from one wash. BOOM!

Yah, I was amazed at the microscopic image. To actually be able to see that I had harvested them all was amazing. The crazy part was I had never even thought to toss some of that bubble waste under the scope. It had just never entered my mind I should go and do that lol!!!

So when you make bubble you use a bucket with a drill. I have a portable washing machine. I use one of the screen bags to put the product in and then into the ice water. I have found that it does not work well at taking off the trichomes. I need to do several runs to get any decent return and even then i get a fair bit of particulate in it. I am assuming it is my technique at fault. I will only use the machine in future if i have to process a lot in one hit if I am building up too much weed but other than that I am thinking I will just go to doing dry ice hash instead as its easier as well as easier on my body which is a real plus.

Maybe try less ice and also maybe try a run with your cannabis in the washing machine with out the zipper bag?

Also, it could just be that your strain isn’t great for hash and also, depending on your source (fresh frozen, dried/cured) you may need to rehydrate it… also, I think some people do multiple washes where they work there way up, maybe 1min or less first wash to sort of almost just clean the buds, then maybe 3mins, then maybe 5min, maybe 8 or whatever I think going up to 15min (draining between washes of course)… anyway, I could be totally wrong about all that, it’s just what I believe I have gathered from here (A lot from @JoeCrowe) and other sources, off of the top of my head

Yeah true. Like Rosin, some strains press well and some dont. I thought about running it without the screen bag but I imagine that draining it out will be a real pain.

The returns on the bubble hash are directly related to your plants ability to grow lots of trichome caps. Not all plants can do that. I will image one that can’t in a little bit, I called it hardcore lemon because of the nuts lemons flavor. I threw it in the garbage because it can’t yield hash.

Yeah cool, please do. The Jack Herer I have now would be good for it then as it produces bulk trichomes and presses well too. I have a 4x4 full of that one that will finish in about 5 weeks. Unfortunately I will lose her genetics when i reset my room to get rid of the TMV.

Oh yeah, I only just remembered too, it was definitely my technique because I remember taking a bit of the disposed out of the trash and spinning out over how little of the trichomes had been removed.

phew, yah, the shitty thing about the virus is you have a 22% chance of mosaic transmission in the seed pod.
I told vernal that I keep some seeds in cold storage that are a replica of the plants I am growing. I crossed it with itself, then if “shit” happens I can always cold boot back up. I learned that lesson when the flood wiped out my entire crop and I had nothing to even reboot with(2017). A cold 6 months with no crops…yikes! Good thing I had a freezer full of product.
I suppose my drill mixing method is highly effective at getting the trichomes, and introducing very little contamination. I never tried a hash mixing machine!

ok here’s the lemon, I think I called it bobs it was some kind of stupid hybrid.

You can see…it’s beautiful. Even for something that’s a year old, it’s not decomposing by any stretch of the imagination.

couple more photos!

This is a seed pod nestled in the bud.

here’s a bud!

If I call all those bud photos up on the screen and tile them, you can definitely see the difference in the trichome field… I think I need a huge 4k tv covering the entire wall of the lab so I can study them for hours  I have a couple copies of my new photo data bank lol! I carry it around on a keychain to show people on their TV. You want to score fucking grow contracts… bring in the heavies!

Why do you think it wasn’t a good has producer, it looks like it has tons of trichomes? Is it more related to the shape of the trichs or something? Those are very tall and skinny whereas some strains they’ll be more stout.

Compared to the big bud, which is the biggest producer, the field of trichomes…and really I count “stalks” with no heads as well…they just got decapitated after all…anyways the field of trichomes is sparse.
What I do, is get all those EDF bud scans up on the screen and look at them all. Your eye can estimate the density pretty good. Take the big bud image, then compare it to the bobs/lemon.

So that lemon was the worst of the batch, and big bud is the best.

Wow it’s very noticeable when you put them side to side like that!

Making some hash here today actually. My technique is far more primitive, you would not approve haha

heh heh you dry that stuff out then mulch it up and make hash?

Pretty much it’s mostly old bone dry trim. Today it’s a bunch of bone dry buds from some girl Scout cookies that came out like hay (BC bud depot boooo lol). In the middle of a half hour settling period then fire the drill back up!

I’ve been doing 15min spins because of this thread and it’s def better than the half hour I was doing before. Better quality and yield is pretty much identical anyways.

I do four 5 minute spins personally

With a paint stirrer? Full speed on the drill?

I never do it full speed, I just do it fast enough to create bubbles on the surface. You get the hang of it after a bit. Full on water vortex I don’t do that.
