lol! now that is hilarious! Thanks!
yah yah I’m super pumped too I should get that thing rendering. After I dissolved the sample I can see the contaminates! Just some plant material I think? and a trichome stalk! Hard to say exactly what that tan chip is, or how it made it through the bags? I guess the width was small enough to make it into the 90μm.
What is happening toward the end there?
The alcohol evaporates and things re-solidify.
Wow that was awesome… what was all the movement from?
The alcohol spreads out once it hits the glass, dissolving things and moving them outwards. All the movement is just the alcohol doing things randomly. Sometimes you can see I pump a few more drops of alcohol on there and things really get agitated. I use 25 units which is 1/4 of a CC of fluid. I just added more alcohol as the previous drops evaporated. I really need to get some concave slides to prevent overflow lol! I’m working on an order of things I need then I’ll order it all at once. concave slides, immersion oil, and a couple of new bulbs. I’ve been considering changing it up to TDKK lighting, so I never have to change the bulb again. Don’t know what one of those things is worth though, but it’s a drop in replacement for halogen bulbs that changes it to LED. The software can deal with any lighting issues.
I got out those hash samples I won at the contest. I had some king tut rosin and uhh some other shit it was sample number four. I have to say sample number four is complete garbage. The crap is bitter and leaves a bitter aftertaste. nast!
The number four sample also contains red and black cotton fibers. Not sure where that came from. I’m not sure that crap is smoke-able, it makes me angry.
The king tut rosin…ooo now that was great! I rolled some balls out of big bud hash and king tut rosin, then I ripped those. ohh man, lovely! So…tasty.
well I’m cranking out the final batch! Also I freeze dried the 73 and 25 hash lol! you could almost be fooled into thinking it was good. I’ll post photos of that for giggles. This hash I’ll shelf dry, it’s proven itself to be a lumper. The meat breath is the next one slotted for hash making! can’t wait!
well I think I’m going to freeze dry this entire batch. I finally realized that free-dried is the only way it’s really nice. After I ripped some fresh from the bag mmm mmm. Melts so good.
oh sorry about the “sprinkles” those are small bits of freeze dried hash.
Man, how can you ever shelf dry when you get those drastic differences?
freeze dried is my favorite! It improves the flavor as well. This 25 micron shit though, I know it’s garbage even though it looks good now. puts the 90 micron in the freezer Gonna have a great batch in a week! That’s how long it took to make that freeze dried hash in the freezer.
it’s underway! Only got 6 days left lol!
I think you should try adding this to your process, at least when I did it the color was good:
ICE AND BUBBLE ACTION EXTRACTOR BAG 5 GALLON 120 MICRON https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B009AH00RW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_jf-ZFbXW38ZD5
120 micron should scoop most of the mature trichomes like the 90 bag. I am curious! The thing I noticed was the smaller μm screen caught more of the plant fibers that floated down. Reasonably then you could theorize the 120μm would have fewer plant fibers than the 90μm.
I am ripping the freeze dried hash from the previous batch. What I haven’t told anyone is that I gathered a whole schwack of freeze dried hash from the big bud I never smoked. It’s still frozen! I wonder if there’s like 20 grams of that shit hanging around.
Apparently certain screen sizes do better for certain strains and I think 120 is one of them but I could be wrong… for $10 it might be worth it for you to try…
I’m not sure what bag you are currently using right now above your 90, but depending on that, adding a 120 might also change the purity of your 90 I would have to imagine.
I’ve got 220,90,73,25! The things I’ve seen under the microscope indicate there is no trichome over 150μm…that I’ve seen! I’m definitely not claiming I scanned every trichome in this universe. There is definitely variation in trichome size within the same strain. Also the tiny crap ones but I’m just talking about the ones with a cap and stalk. oo… hey… hmm I could almost predict the yield percentage in the sacks based on the microscopic scan of the surface combined with measuring.
The most variation I have seen in the trichomes is related to the stalk length! Now, the length of the stalk of a capitate trichome varies huge from strain to strain, but the cap size itself, the maximum size doesn’t vary much. Ahhh interesting data. In the study of the growth of the trichomes in bud I determined the caps start out very small and slowly inflate to their maximum size probably 2-3 weeks before harvest. oooo I am going to have to gather more data on that!
I can’t wait to blow someone’s mind with the trichome data down the road. I should construct it into a pdf so I can email it ahem, to the needy hordes, who need to know. Phew my mind is racing today I think I drank too much coffee.
