My first grow omg

Thank you for saying this because I am currently on my second grow and I wss a little overwhelmed with all the information I was getting which was all good sound advice but like @Rabeats2093 said don’t let yourself get all worried and remember it’s your grow and I’m glad to see you here on OG welcome and I look forward to your grow

I don’t think this is accurate; or at least, it’s misleading imo. One of the reasons a photo might be flowering early is stress from being rootbound, but I’ve been growing photos for ~5 years and never seen it happen. Whether it’s a 2’ tall plant in a 1gal pot or a 5’ tall plant in a 10gal pot, they inevitably take over the whole pot with roots if you give them time; and they inevitably show preflowers if you give them time, though sometimes it’s tough to tell the difference. I usually need a microscope.

In that third picture, I think what you’re pointing out as a male preflower is actually a new branch forming. Under that, of course, would be the preflower… but it’s basically invisible at this stage. That being said, in the fourth picture you can see the preflower coming in at the base of the newly-formed branches - imo it’s too small in this picture to tell what it is, and the magnification is too pixelated.

Worse yet, the male preflower in its earliest stages has two extremely thin tendrils that extend out from the growing stamen, making it easy to mistake for a female preflower. Basically, your best bet on sexing is gonna be sending them into flower; if you need to know early because you want to cull, taking clones and sending them into flower before they’re even rooted will work.

Day66 Veg.
So had a nutrient lock on one of my big Afghan plants so had to flush it with 15 gal of water. But it is looking better got it down to 700 ppm.

Pot to top of plant is 50 inch.
The last is my white widow clone, it finally took Root and shot up

This plant is going to be massive when its all done. Hope you’ve got your ladder ready! :ladder: :hugs:

That plant could double in height during the stretch phase, I hope you have enough space between the light and the canopy

People were saying that weeks ago to @AceHigh , and even then he was saying he’s planning on vegging until March… So that’s a 90 day veg, or more :zipper_mouth_face::grimacing:

Gonna be watering three times a day in those pots, and tying branches to the ceiling for support.
If you can pull it off though, the yield will be stellar.
Time will tell.

Well education on the flop technique could probably be needed then :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Thanks for the comments all. I’ve been trying to wait to get them into my greenhouse, but another 30 days is gonna be hard, think they may outgrow my home space before then. If I flip now they may outstretch my space so think I’m gonna have to wait, lucky I have 9 ft ceilings.

And so we don’t assume anything…
You know that under natural light, it won’t start flowering until probably august? So this thing might go twenty feet by then I am thinking.

Yeah thought of that, I’ve been thinking of designing a blackout area for half of my green house, it 12ft high at the center and 16’ x32’ so have plenty of room.

It will grow faster in a green house lol. A friend in the Had plants in a garage with a corrugated plastic roof so the light would come in. Those plants were getting a foot loped of the top every 7-10 days lol.

Ok Day 72 update.
The big Afghan F1’s are looking better after the flush, starting to grow again

They’re looking healthy and huge! Now is a good time to start thinking about humidity control, defoliation, and a plan for pest and mildew/mold management, if you haven’t already.
Giant plants are far more prone to bud rot/botrytis/powdery mildew, and pest infestation, because it’s hard to inspect the entire plant

I’ve been doing that, checking them from top to bottom every few days. So far the only issue was the nutrient lock and nats that I killed during the nutrient flush.

What does everyone . I wanted to see how big I could grow them, but not sure, they are pretty big now.
