My Freakers Preservation Project: BCSC NL#5

BCSC’s NL #5 was always the best 5 representation. Consider me interested if this is a seed co-op giveaway type thingy. Good luck with your run!

Public seed run or not, I’m tagging along!

Thanks man! I feel the same way! I remember NL5 as a kid and it still holds a special place in my heart.

It’s all good man, no sorry necessary. I want to keep this thread free of drama (which I’m guilty of getting myself into). It would be an honor to have you follow along. Like I said, I’m going to try and get as many seeds out as possible. :v:

Thank you sir! I really hope to spread these far as wide.

Many thanks! Gonna need all the support (and prodding lol) I can get on this one.

So glad I mixed up soil Sunday. I woke up this morning and it’s snowing.

The Soil:

So I took a bunch of old soil from some males and what not, broke it up, and pulled the big root balls out. Then I added a couple of cups of a nutrient mix I made up. I can’t remember what all I put in it, but it’s something like basalt, crab meal, gypsum, kelp, neem, fish bone meal and probably a little soft rock phosphate. I added a little coco for potassium and keep the mix light. I also added some homemade compost which was crazy hot last fall, so I didn’t add much. The base of the compost was chicken poop and bedding that I’ve been working on for a couple of years now. I mixed it all up, wetted it down, and I’ll let it sit while the seedlings get a little bigger.

Let’s see if I can figure out the gallery/grid picture thingy lol.

@PlantShepherd - great choice on the run - looking forward to seeing this one finish !

BTW, those QB288 V2 Rspec LED boards grow really well - i changed over to that board when it first came out.

  • the only shortcoming [if any] is that some strains want more Red spectrum and will keep throwing white pistils on the top colas all the way to the finish.

One of the most used strains of all time. This one contributed more to modern-day genetics than most. Supposed to be a heavy yielder from what I remember. I think you’re going to knock this one out of the park. Good luck!

I was told the 84 is the closest looking nl to Nevil’s #5

I meant in seed form.

My buddy just calls his “Northern Lights” and he scooped it and an afghani from the Chico/Paradise area in 1984. I know others refer to an “old Eugene cut” that seems to date back to around the same time. I’ve been curious if they are one and the same

Ugh… I’m so sorry I haven’t updated more. Still having health shit going on. I transplanted the plants a week or so ago. They were having a little mg deficiency so I hit em with an epsom salt foliar and the color is back to normal. I’m hoping to take clones when I top them so I can save the females. I’ll pull the males and collect pollen, and then I hope to fill the shower with seeded female plants. That’s the plan anyway. I’ll probably transplant the females in 5 gallon containers before flower.

Thanks Upstate! I’m super stoked to finally be getting to these. The ones I ran before were definitely good yielders and seem to do well in breeding projects.

Dang it! Missed this, sorry @rootfarmer! I’m super stoked to hear you had good results with the respec boards! Like I said, this is my first time flowering under LED’s. Can I ask, is that a 4 x 4’ tent? I’m thinking about making a bigger light (more leds bigger driver) to try and replace one HPS in the main flowering room to see how it compares. Thanks for stopping in!

Thank you @Guitarzan! I can’t wait to start flowering them! I looked today and I’m 99% sure I have 5 females and 3 males. I’m going to top them and remove some fan leaves to open things up a bit.

Lol! Thanks George! Love to see you around! :v:

Thanks Guitarzan! I was getting a little worried. The first five were all female. I was like oh no, not this again! :joy:

I’m already wondering what my second run is gonna be!

Hey all! Thought I’d post a quick update. The males are getting pulled tonight and going into flower. I’m going to upcan the females next week and probably flip them not long after. You can see the three males in the upper left. The rest are female. :v:
