Peshawar was a traditional hotspot of cannabis cultivation in Afghanistan until police pressure forced growers to migrate to the Tribal area of Pakistan( FATA) in the 80’s, causing Peshawar’s extinction in Afghanistan in its pure state. and changing the landrace due to the new climate and the intermingling of the Peshawar and Tirah Valley tribal area landraces.
Unlike most Afghani varieties which give a heavy body high and an often sedative effect, Peshawar is the original Afghan sativa which was the hashplant used until the 1950s when at the behest of the Afghan King, the Highland Broadleaf Hindu Kush Afghan landraces we are all familiar with began to be mixed with the old Afghan Sativa to increase yield and flower size. Afghan varieties generally flower 8- 12 weeks and to this day Afghan Farmers consider the earlier harvested plants inferior and their headstash almost always consists of hash made with the longer flowering sativa dominant plants. Today the Afghan sativa only exist in seed collections, (and soon more of them😁)Known to have an energetic, electric high, this one is right up my alley!
For this run there are 8 plants. 2 females confirmed. One possible/ probable male, 5 seedlings. The first plant to come up a couple months ago will have cuttings taken very soon as it is already very large and is destined to make flowers for my freezer. It was just transplanted into a 10 gallon container and will be flipped to flower in 1 week. A cutting or 2 from it will join the other plants for the seed run. I will get a group photo tonight but for now here is the big one. It has great structure and has only been topped twice now.
