Hey gang,
Was wondering if anyone had any tobacco seeds they wanted to trade for some cannabis seeds? I’m in Canada.
Let me know…trying to plan the garden for summer and have wanted to try some tobacco for a long time now.
Thanks much!

I started working in a field cropping tobacco in 1978.

The strain makes a difference
The cure is EVERYTHING

I picked a few leafs off a plant in my front yard, here in NC fields of the Golden leaf are everywhere.

Anyway I though I try the up north methold(air curing)
Winston if memory serves me was air cured.
I did something wrong, was the harshest shit ever.
In NC we flue cure ours
Much better but still
Harsh as a mother fucker.
The cure is very important but aging
Blending etc is to.
To get a good smooth cig is artwork.
I have a brand on my table now
Kentucky select, Processed here
At home and contains local leaf.
Some of the best RYO leaf out there imo.

Here in the CT river valley, Broadleaf and Shade are the two kings. Have plenty seeds of each…

I have some tobacco seeds. I can send you a couple pods that probably have thousands. I grew a few this summer and they turned out great. Tho I didn’t cure/dry properly. They can be a pain to start as they are tiny like Strawberry seeds but once they get going they are weeds.

That would be awesome, man! My garden isn’t very big, so only need a couple to get going. Did your plants last year get some good height? Sounds like some can become absolutely monsters! Would I be okay starting some indoors using the same soil as my cannabis?

This is so cool… I recently have been researching growing some of my own tobacco. It was a little off putting learning about genetics and curing… But I am still interested and curious.
Once upon a time I had even tried cultivating coffee. Not easy for me as I live in the desert. Anyways… I have to say, tobacco seeds are very tiny. Like WOW tiny. Maybe next year!! I hope you get much success in your endeavors Y’all!!
:+1: :green_heart:

Edit: stoner circles, I mean to say wowzer about TMV tobacco mosaic virus and separately roasting coffee beans…
Just whoa … Information Overload for me

It’s not easy sending a couple, you’d never find them. They are like dust haha.

Pm me your info and I’ll get you a couple thousand sent out.

Out of curiosity. What tobacco strains would finish in NY?

They don’t really take any time to finish, just get them started indoors early spring. You Harvest the leaves so you don’t have to wait for flowers just for the plant to make big leaves. Once the leaves yellow you Harvest them. Then the curing is what threw me for a loop.

that’s the easy part about growing tobacco. i used to work on my uncle’s farm with it. after harvesting, nothing more than cutting it down and “spudding” about 5 or 6 of them on a pole like a tomato stake, we hung them in the barn for a few months. it had open sides and held a lot of those poles. never checked humidity or anything else, just open wv barn from august until november or december, then stripped the leaves from the stems and rolled them into “hands” and sold them at market.

The flowers get Chopped
The sucker leaves get Chopped.
Then you get those Huge Beautiful Golden Leaf.

Yes curing is an art and it takes a while.
