Nagel420 - Third Times A Charm!

Still very crowded down there, I see. :open_mouth: And here you go filling it up all over again…

I didn’t realize you had two BJHs going… they look so different, I guess. That variegation really did a number on it, can’t even tell they’re the same strain. Which one were the seeds you gave me from, out of curiosity? I’m guessing the variegation is recessive and wouldn’t show up on the first generation, the F2s are where the freaks come out to play. :stuck_out_tongue:

SIPs of any kind are nice, it’s an easy way to automate watering without any tech. The reservoir takes up a bit more space, but only having to water fabric pots once a week makes up for it. Are you using plain water in the reservoir there, or a tea of some sort?

I don’t think mine is either. I haven’t gotten around to doing an update yet either, but here’s a pic, you can tell me if it’s coming through… looks normal to me, anyway.

Definitely moving faster than the other two, at any rate. They’re still in their 1g pots and happy enough, she was starting to get rootbound a few days ago and drank as much as the other two combined.

Anyway, everything’s looking nice except for the path through… you seem to have misplaced that in a plant or seven. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just couldn’t help it. And testers don’t help either!

Yup, one variegated, one non. Their shape and size are similar in comparison to other autos, but their colors were WAY different, and really, the variegated just grabbed your attention. Seeds were from the non variegated, the variegated was a few weeks behind in development from the 3rd week on it seemed. The lack of chlorophyll likely affected it, because it grew slower, but still managed to match the size of the other.

The variegated trait should be in both, the non variegated had a few leaves, but not full blown like the variegated plant did. Evidently it can only be passed on from the mother, and its genetic, but not. Its within the cell, and in a nutshell, all the right circumstances need to be present for it to go variegated. @PetalPowerseed explained it to me once, quite scientifically. Was very interesting as I thought the same, a recessive gene, since there are other plants that are variegated on a regular basis…

I expect some variegated offspring for sure from both plants, though not sure on the percentages. Would be awesome to have one with purple and white!

Plain water at the moment, though I might supplement my ferts thru the reservoir. I do have an EC meter and pH meter here, pH showed 6.3 / 6.4 on all of them. I added a little bit of some FF nutes and brought EC from 174 to 320ish, but just experimenting so far. Also have a TDS meter I will be tossing in the mid. Making tea is a whole other process to add here LOL. Though its not without its merits…

Yeah, “normal”. I’m bummed it grew out of the twisted leaves phase. If you look here: Nagel420 - Third Times A Charm! - #83 by Nagel420 the twisted appearance is in the bottom left corner. Thats your plants mom, when she was a sprout. See how twisted her leaves are? I was really hoping to preserve that / make cuttings, but the most freakish mine is is slightly deeper serrations in the leaf edge. Not much…

Yeah, she’s bounced back quickly. So our method of bare root transport worked  The other spirit train F2 in the tent is nice and frosty, I think you’ll enjoy growing that out. Got a good feeling on the Spirit Trains. Dunno why… Frosty, dense nugs, even frost on the fans… I think its a sleeper

Oh there’s a nice path in the middle now! I can fit like a whole other person in there now! But my basement is starting to look like a refugee camp. TWO 2x2 male jails, a 2x4 drying tent, 3x3 and 3x4 tents. plus the homemade 2x4 pseudo tent. I really need more space

Thanks for the kind words. I imagine in a couple of weeks when my testers get a move on, that path might require some levitation skills to navigate as it will fill up quickly. (planted 10 ea of 3 crosses LOL).

Sweet. Looking good. I got some beans baking right now.

Interesting. Could also just be a runt that caught up… it seems strange that it would catch up later if the chlorophyll was lower throughout the plant, if it was due to the lack of chlorophyll at first. I assume it flowered on the same schedule, either way?

Yeah, hopefully those are some of the testers you’ve got going now; they might have to move up my list, after doing a tester auto reg or two so I get my deaths in early. I’ll inevitably do something stupid and kill them, I figure, might as well do it with ones that aren’t so interesting. :stuck_out_tongue:

Aren’t EC and TDS a measure of essentially the same thing? I thought you could convert one to the other, same with PPM - albeit with some confusion on 500, 700, 1000 standards.

It’s definitely doing great so far. It’s the tallest in the tent already… and it’s already showing pistils, just started along with the non-stunted Foxtail Skunk. Not catching any smell from it yet, but the whole tent smells like fish so that’d be tough without taking leaves off. Kind of a shame the mutated leaves aren’t carrying through, but I have some Freakshow in the case anyway… just need to do a preservation then figure out how the hell to breed with it, apparently it might be sex-linked as well as recessive so it might only pass through the mother and only show up for selection in F2s.

And then you’ll get more space and be saying the same thing, you know it as well as I do. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep, excellent updates, impressive results and a great back-n-forth @Nagel420 & @Cormoran!

This is the kind of thread that gives OG depth and substance, (as well as elite strains & seeds).

Thanks. :call_me_hand: :green_heart:

basically since chloroplasts much like mitochondria evolved independently as prokaryotes they possess their own dna that is passed without recombination from the mother but also relies on DNA queues since it has gaps in it own dna. Complicates true breeding variegation greatly

I was just saying that the other day

It’s true, I saw it! It was between a fart joke, and one about death metal midgets doing torture porn. Both pretty much typical topics for him, so I did a double-take hearing something that wasn’t NSFW coming out of his mouth…

Hey, maybe you guys will learn a bit from @PetalPowerseed !!

@Rabeats2093 well played with the Billy Madison quote. Roflmao

@Cormoran damn dude you got a lock on @Slick1s activities.

@PetalPowerseed thank you for educating these guys despite their awkwardness. It’s really hard to take them out in public at times lol

@MoBilly & @LegsMahoney thank you my good men… it’s a labor of love!

@GrouchyOldMan agreed! You still learn by sharing your experiences too! When people comment and give you another point of view is when you grow

I just bought a p4000…

As is my style, I decide to search it (after) purchasing. Well that led me to you my friend @Nagel420.

Your posts and comments make me feel good about my purchase. So for that I thank you
