Goddess bless you, I would be happy to! This is the OG I remember. I promise to pay it forward, because karma is real.
your own beans? rhino is such a classic
I have not yet had the chance to try anything from fellow Overgrowers. Confused with sign ups still figuring that out, my timings off, and I think may be too “new”. I was sort of a lurker on OG for a back @2000, BigFin72, but didn’t post too much, just replied, too scared to put up pics.
Back then I was guerilla growing a strain that came (to me) out of Meigs County Ohio, an Acapulco Gold mix and few seasons of what we called P Funk. Seriously miss those days amd strains.
I did a lot of research here and elsewhere and there are a lot of bad reviews for large sellers. Not really sure when I ordered the kush and gg I have if it’s really what they claim anymore. From what I can tell, no matter the origin you need to put in the time working with variety to find something truly special.
Looking for something new myself, not sure where to go.
Not made by me no these where from @AzSeaindooin420 @beacher
Old post, but I appreciate this info! I tried to pop some Black Snow beans waaaaayyyy back in 2022 right after I received them, but went 0/6 on germination and got nervous that none would pop. I decided to give the remaining 4 a cold stratification to give them a better chance. Nice to know there’s some in there, and I’m gonna go search for pics of her!
How late am I to the party Gonzo?
I can not say I have tried any OG seeds… but I have been a consumer of buying seeds from breeders…
KDS seeds (kendog smoke) had reasonable packs for around 60(I got something extra frosty and had rose smells and body odor that STUCK to your fingers) I would buy again!
AK bean brains … whether it was freebies or a pack I wanted for 60 bucks or 100… there was always variety and some super heavy smoke and smells. I know there are many excellent breeders. I just like this guy’s style and willingness to talk to you. He is pretty amazing! I can’t stop acquiring his work.
Bodhi I have had issues getting beans to pop…have not had great success between 3 attempts. (Could have been my fault)
TGA I have had issues with beans(jilly bean)
Golden coast genetics… feminized herms
I guess my favorite thing about AK bean brains and KDS seeds was that I only popped 3 or 4 seeds and found something I loved and was glad to show a jar off afterwards.
Good luck on your search, It’s a lot of fun finding something new in a seed… sooo many possibilities
I agree . Seed packets are cool. I have enjoyed my gifts. I have gotten crazy strains from here.
There sure are a lot of bean giveaway’s around here.
There are amazing strains to be found here, my friend. And at best they might cost you a stamp. You don’t have to waste your time and money anywhere else. Just saying my 2 cents.
I’m actually fairly well set for now, friend. I’m still hoping to win some of that BOG pollen from Doug, though!
I have found that the OG seeds that I have run are as good of quality as any seeds I have run from Nirvana or any of the few sites I trust.
regards,
I prefer trading seeds with other hobbyists, it’s what makes this so much more fun. As soon as I find something truly worthy, I’ll be making seeds to share as well. (I have a few potential candidates, but they have to prove themselves first- life is too short to breed bad weed lol.)
I like the dynamics behind the OG seeds, also the pride who sweat from it in the posts and the concentric circles around the most active donors. All of that have my full unconditional support.
But there is some flaws from all this great energy. Sometimes there is a lack of transparency on the nature of the seeds traded. I’ve not discovered only one time in a discussion that what i was taking for a reg repro was just in fact a fem release hybridized, sometimes selfed again. Double-fem also. And a lot of variations around this thema. Reversal is pretty much popular now, but not so the full transparency on it. I don’t think it’s like that for bad intentions, more a “soft focus”.
I’ve got maybe 60 flips of seeds here & only 2 were feminized. All the rest regs. Thought it was mostly regular seed given out here.
I’ve noticed similar items…
How is it that we can’t get the history right on a 20 year old strain… and a 30+ strain? …it might as well start with “Once apon a time…”
My tl:dr answers is “stoners…”
I try and research my stuff as best as I can but ‘solid info’ is usually few and far between…
Cheers
G
Sometimes is just a lack of education too, let’s talk true. I’ve one case in mind of :
- no, i swear it’s no longer a feminized line source
- (freezing. Maybe it’s my level of english)
- yeah, it’s the generation after the reversal and it’s the line that have males now. So it’s a reg i swear.
- (running far away like Ben Johnson)
For pedigree it’s another story i think. We are doomed to count on stoners for that ^^
Personnally i don’t really mind if it’s not specifically for a project and just to smoke it, at the moment that the buds are fire you can rename it whatever you want and you can wrap it with story of aliens and pyramids ^^
So far Humboldt Seed Co. has been my go to. Their Sour Apple Auto in a 5 gal pot (it’s actually 3 or 4 gal) came out about 3 feet and excellent smoke. I did get a pack from a friend in Washington of Left Hand Seeds (Everyday Haze reg) that came out tall, slender, not a lot of buds, but what there was, was uplifting, creative and a joy. (I’ll try crossing with an auto to see if I can get that haze flower time down.) Since the Auto’s have vastly improved I’m a fan. Less work, less expense, less time. Aside from the Haze, I’m looking for some auto reg, that I can use for my bed time cookies.
To reconciliate with the idea that pedigrees are incomplete or straight up false, you have to accept that the person known for bringing a line to the light isnt always the one that made the cross.
You find some auto regs
I think it’s a very subjective. Each breeder and even each breeding project can be unique. I got very lucky in that the first seeds I bought as a new grower were BOG Bogglegum so it was well worth the $70 dollars that they cost. Also later even though I had a selected cutting a still wanted to buy seeds from BOG just to support if I had the extra money like a band I like. There are many seeds out there that I would consider not worth it or a gamble. That’s why researching the provenance is important. I do many hours of research before I buy anything. I’ll say I’d buy anything from Crickets and Cicada, AK Bean Brains, and more recently Golden Road Farms. There’s a few more. As far as OG seeds I’m sure it’s the same, subjective and based on many factors. Im new here but looking for to growing some fellow OGers seeds.
