New indoor grow journal

Hello OG, I was an avid reader and follower of the original OG back in the day, so Its awesome that it is back up and running strong! This is my second grow and Ill be updating as the progress continues. I took three random bagseeds from three different strains, as I want it to be a surprise, and started my grow!
I started them under a 3 x 6500k CFL Grow light, until one week old. Then I mixed up some organic soil from my garden and transplanted them into 1 gallon sized pots. After transplanting, I changed my lighting from cfl to a 600 watt led. Once they started taking root in there new homes, I put them in my 2 x 2 x 4 grow tent for their final resting place. I will be using cal-mag as needed as well as big bloom ferts. I’ve been very cautious watering them as to not over do it. I want to give these seeds as much TLC as needed for them to grow beautifully. I will be topping them at the 4th or 5th node and then scrogging them as it is a 2 x 2 x 4 space. I am factoring in that one or more might be Male, so that would give me more space but either ways ,fingers crossed!!! Any comments, suggestions or feedback would be amazing! Iam at day 9 from seed!

Looking good so far man, just don’t be surprised if the turn out hermi on ya. Most do. You will still get smoke, but seedy and not as strong as if it wasn’t hermi, because the plant will use alot of it’s energy to create seeds. Will still be great practice to get another grow under your belt. How did your 1st one go? What type of led are you running?

Hey right on, thanks for the info Roc! Iam praying they don’t turn! My first grow was almost 5 years ago and I started with 4 seeds in a hand built grow box. Only one turned hermie, which I gave to a friend, but the other three I grew till harvest. The smoke was decent but I wasn’t as informed of stuff like watching Ph levels or adjusting for nute def. So this is like a redo lol. Hoping for the best at least! So question, is there a way to prevent them from turning hermie, or is that just natural from most bagseed since their prob from a hermie themselves? Also there 10 days along, any recommendations on how long to wait in between watering? I haven’t introduced any food yet, just water Ph’d to 6.7!??
Thanks again

You may want to reduce the light until it has established itself more. The root system isnt fully developed to handle all that LED just yet.

Hey GrowHard! I have the light 15" from the plants, are you recommending raising the lights!? Or switching back to cfl? Just in two days of being under the Led, all three have pushed out there second set of leaves, so just curious? Thanks

I prefer to keep seedlings under low intensity light until they have 2 or 3 defined leaves. Personal preference.
I would go to the CFL for a few more days, Less chance of stress. Slow and low.

I do not want to be an armchair grower and try to diagnose everything just looking at a single photo. Just trying to help out.

is that 600 true watts or “equivalent” watts?? my veg tent runs around 150w and i never move my lights in either tent, they basically stay as high up as they go … i think its about 4-5 feet away from the seedlings (on the floor) and i don’t really get any stretching

edit: just checked, 5 feet from the floor so about 4 ft 8 inches from the seedlings

Its def equivalent watts, 120 actual wattage.
(1) 600W:
Power: 600W
Actual Power: 120w
LED Quantity: 60pcs(30Red + 14Blue + 8White + 8Sodium)

should be fine then … if you want to raise it you could always use 1 hanging wire instead of all 4, and connect each end to a clip at opposite corners then hang from the middle of it (if that makes sense)

Yeah I was wondering about that because any little movement and the light will twist or turn so I was devising a way to make it more sturdy!

ya mine are kind of held in place by the wires running to it … i have 2 single fixtures connected in series so they don’t spin around much

Not that I’m aware of…heri’s pass on hermie traits, most of the time. Just keep a real close eye on the buds and pick off any bannanas forming, carefully not to bust 'em open. Wish ya the best of luck. Just don’t get discouraged if it does happen.

So I readjusted my lighting by rearranging the clips on the metal wire harness, and now its hanging right lol! Seems like they are liking the new environment. Is this temp and humidity on par for the tent!?

Sorry for the blurple lighting… Budtender.

Just because its a bagseed doesnt mean its a herm

No, but there’s a good chance of it. Was just giving him a heads up, in case.

Temps are good, try not to let it go over 80. Humidity could be a little higher but nothing to worry about imo. Looking good

Nice looking set up! I recently ran some bag seed BlueComa and just harvested it today. There is always hope you’ve got some special female(s) in the bunch. :v:

Here is a shot of the BlueComa cut down. Not bad for bagseed

So its 15 days from seed one is doing great although the first leaves are yellowing a little, the thicker leaved one was stunted but finally taking off and the leaves are yellowing a bit too, and the last one the first set of leaves curled up and I plucked them, all of the leaves on this plant have brown tips, even the new growth. Temps have been 77 to 79 and humidity has been 43 to 47. I watered on 7/20 with 1 tsp of epsom and 1 tablespoon of fox farm bloom. I waited three days and then today watered with just epsom water Ph to 6.5. In the first week and a half I didn’t have a way to adjust ph. So is the yellowing on the big and runt just because the ph was unbalanced, also is that nute burn on the third?! Any help appreciated thanks. Iam also germinating two more seeds just in case! Thanks BudTender
