Northeastern Growers' Corner

Yeah man yesterday I was having a picnic with my lady next to the Connecticut and there were dudes ice fishing despite being able to see heat waves and the hockey rink fog above the surface

One thing I never quite understood being raised in New England…Weather never stops changing.
It can be summer in December and winter in June…Or anything else in between :man_facepalming:t2: keeps you on your toes I guess.

Oh yea, ton of people out on the set backs and stuff yesterday. More out this morning. That’s good though, means a lot of ice wasn’t lost and it’s going to freeze up good again early this week.

I grew up in rural Central MA, up the Last Green Valley rustbelt, and since moving back here four years ago I remembered something I had forgotten-
in New England it’s always the season for rubber shoes:

Got myself a pair of these when I got a job on a farm a few summers ago and man, rubber boots sure got a lot more comfortable than the ones I had when I was younger, the drawstring top LL Bean rubber pac boots that you’d take the liners out in the summer and put in extra footbeds. These things are like a Cadillac, my friend swears by the classic fisherman model 15” Xtratuf but I needed more support than that to work on a concrete slab all summer for eleven hour shifts.

Now I wear them all winter when it’s sloppy and the mud season, could use more tread but eventually I’ll find a used pair of those farmer Muck boots with the lugged soles.

That’s the ones the big Deck Boss boots they have two insoles so water that gets inside doesn’t make your foot wet

Love my BOG muck boots to death in the winter, lots of foot support and super warm. Even went so far as to buy a pair of ankle height ones to wear in to work and I’m around town

I prefer crocs, the kind with no holes, 4wd locked in. It’s self lubricating footware for the winter mud season

I can’t do those, too soft underfoot for me! I really just mesh well with the Birkenstock last shape and footbeds, especially the cork and latex ones, the polyurethane are good and all but they don’t cradle the foot the same way, or insulate as well. Cork insoles in my Super Birkis do a crazy good job of keeping my feet warm on cold concrete compared to most boots, like when I’m working in the unheated garage in the winter.

I do love how light Crocs are, I’ve been considering a pair of these for working in a kitchen this summer since my clogs might be not enough in the dish pit, but the boots may be overkill and hot/heavy to be spinning and moving quickly. I know at the farm I would switch back to clogs when I needed to move faster even though the boots are pretty nimble. These Tingleys look like a great mid boot for three-season use, I’d like to handle a pair and try them on first to see if the density is a little higher than Crocs

And if anyone liked the look of those Grundens but found them a little spendy, before I decided to go for the Deck Bosses, I came pretty close to getting these Dunlops (couldn’t decide) for half the price and I think they’re probably 80-90% as much boot for half the money:

I took advantage of the thaw in the weather to go out cowboy camping by the Connecticut River last night, was worth it entirely but especially this 6:30am view I first sat up to and snapped a photo of before going back to sleep:

Looking forward to getting out paddling this season in some sort of boat, whatever canoe or kayak I scrounge up. It’s been years but I grew up on the water quite a bit in lakes and rivers of New England

Feeling pompous : Who grows bigger plants than me over hur in the NE? Granted I have only ever grown a handful of MJ plants in the ground my entire life. I have been having fun growing some big ladies since its “legal” now in NY.
Humble me please who has my lil trees beat ?

Weathers definitely weird up here, you get so used to seasons being from up here. I was stationed in Texas for years and it definitely fucked with me haha just hot and hotter with a hot breeze and tumbleweeds, jack rabbits and those little prairie dogs

Wow, that’s huge. Which pic is that plant?

Its half of that cage. I was trimming for aesthetics after a certain point not for plant size. Here is that grow and here is the other. OG is my home now. Only picture post here from now on. If you follow the link you will find i implied these were one plant but they are groupings :kissing: sue me. Still some big ladies just not as impressive

Dreaming Ahead today… Little winter indoor led grow ones have been getting a few hours a day outside during these warm spells… Natural Sunlight is way better…
