Can anyone give some approximate temperatures(F) for the double-boiler step?
I first saw this picture and was like “he has the same stove as me”. Then I realized, that was my picture. LOL.
Water boils at 220°F depending on elevation. So a double boiler will not exceed this temperature.

Can I evaporate the H2O (120 proof everclear) and alcohol at the same time or should I separate the steps?
You can do both at the same time. After some time it will start to get milky and globs will form, this happens after the alcohol boils off. Keep going until all that’s left is the black goo. Then add back fresh alcohol to mix it all back up.

Can I keep some of the sticky black RSO for smoking? Is that right? All I’ve heard is “RSO tastes bad.”
I’ll make most of it into tincture but am ever-curious.
You can smoke some of the RSO, but it tastes terrible and is quite harsh.
I’ll be making something else tomorrow, but today I just have a extremely basic, yet tasty edible infusion. I didn’t use alcohol or strain anything. I just decarbed, ground to a fine powder like flour, mixed with 2oz of liquid coconut oil, and then mixed with a whole jar of natural almond butter.
It works very well, but in the doses I’ve had so far it’s not very psychoactive. It was fully decarbed, but I haven’t had a macro dose yet. I finally got my insurance situation at home settled, so once I get my new insurance I’ll deal with my issues properly and not be afraid of the big bad medical debt. Today I’m mostly dealing with a pair of dying roots in 2 dead teeth hanging on for dear life. Upside is I should have it taken care of within the month. Downside is pain until the nerve root dies:weary: just little bit longer and I won’t be spending 1000 just to get 2 molars extracted from my jawbone. If they didn’t go bad these were amazingly well rooted in my jaw. All my teeth are. No dentist will help. Only dental surgeon’s
Upside is that the almond butter is helping greatly with my pain management and in about an hour I’ll have a macro dose to knock it out and try out the infusion properly as well.
10g of bud to a jar of almond butter and 2oz of MCT oil.
Trim jar has been saved and transferred to Coconut oil and ghee.
Reduced on a double boiler until nothing remained but water and oil.
I then added coconut oil and ghee to the mix and heated to around 200f for 30 minutes. The oil lost the green color right at the end as well going more olive and brown. Next step is to freeze it and after pouring out any water still remaining I’ll heat it again until I’m 100% certain it’s purged completely.

I save my 25 micron bubble hash, rosin bags, and pressed hash for edible grade extracts. This has been sitting in a bottle of ethanol for about a week or two. Today I filtered it through a 25 micron filter, followed by a 2-4 micron filtration. The result is sitting in my freezer to winterize.
Damn that looks pretty concentrated!
