Filtering is slow… It’s very clear and light green now though.
That’s looking just right.
You makin the meds now.

So, This is the final product for now.
I’m starting my test at 1/2 ml dose. Mixed it into a shot of gatorade just to cover the taste a bit.
(.20 * 28000 mg * 0.75)/300ml (10oz) = 14mg/ml
(I got 10oz final product from my batch)
Here we go! lol.
Edit: felt nothing from 1/2ml after 20 minutes, taken another 1/2ml will report back in another 20 mins.
Edit: increasing dose another 1ml. I’m feeling just a little overall relaxing feeling. Not quite the same effect or as strong as when I’ve actually smoked.
Edit: after 2ml and 45 minutes I was feeling a very slight high feeling, I just took 1ml more and held it in my mouth for a full minute before swallowing it. I now am starting to feel my normal “high” and can tell it’s still coming on. I’m liking this so far, I plan to reduce my batch by half to increase the strength.
That is an interesting result you got. It has me doing some math to compare your end product to my results. We both did pretty much the same technique.
This isnt a very good comparison because I have no idea how your “dose” compares to what I think a “dose” is, but Im going to do it anyway.
You used 1 oz of bud to make that 10oz of Green Dragon? At 3 ml per “dose”, that will give you aprox 100 “doses” from 1 oz of bud. Does your dose last you all day or do you take several a day? I almost always do a bunch of smaller doses during the day and one biger one to go to sleep.
It might be better to compare total daily usage than single doses…?
I used aprox 4 oz of dry bud and 1400 ML of Ever Clear. I decarbed, crammed the bud into two quart sized mason jars and broke it up some, then did two rinses with the Ever Clear - aprox 5 mins per rinse with shaking and tumbling of the jars. The I filtered twice with coffee filters, and combined the liquid and reduced it to oil.
2oz of the bud was fresh dispensary Northern Lights and the other two was some very very old, very dry bud of unknown origin that my brother was saving for desperate times because it tasted really bad. So I have no idea what my total THC content was - another reason why this isnt a very good comparison.
Anyway, I think I ended up with aprox 1200 ml of tincture and reduced that down to oil and mixed the oil into 2 cups of coconut oil. I use the coconut oil to make capsules.
Anyway, my 2 cups of coconut oil = 472 ml. With my eye dropper, I get aprox 40 drops per ml, so that a total of 18,880 drops. One lite dose for me is 3 drops, but that is really lite. It just takes the edge off. I consider 4 to 6 drops to be a better dose with 8 to 12 needed sometimes. In other words, it varies a lot for me depending on the pain level.
Looking back over my notes, it looks like Im averaging somewhere around 40 drops/day over the last two weeks. So my 4 oz of bud should last me another 18880/40 = 472 days. That means 1 oz of bud would last me somewhere around 118 days.
But again, my does may have no relation to your dose. One of yours might knock me on my ass
@Jellypowered, you didn’t reduce it at all right? Trim is usually a little less potent, so I would reduce it down to 3-4 oz and try dosing again. The high Is different though, more subtle.
I’m reducing passively. I have it sitting behind one of my mining computers so it’s getting a gentle heat to help evaporate the everclear. I have the jar marked for half the volume and when it reaches that point i’ll try it again.
Nice, I put mine in front of the A.C. in my grow room, goes down pretty fast because of the dry air.
Basically what I call a depletion batch…
it was cool to see what happens as it reduces down. A 50% reduction turns it darker gold/brown color and gives it an earthier flavor. Makes me wonder what would happen if you let it go all the way. Would you get RSO? I put it next to a fan in a pyrex dish and it reduced 50% within a few hours.
Ya, you get RSO in the end. A VERY thick golden oil (solid at room temp).
(.20 * 28000 mg * 0.75)/150ml (5oz) = 28 mg/ml
(After reduction, I got 5 oz final product from my batch)
Reduction definitely made it darker/more earthy smelling. That everclear is potent smell all by itself though.
Dose is approx 1ml (my particular droppers seem to give between .5 and .75 ml per dropper full. So my 30ml bottles will have between 25-30 uses per.
Mom was having a bad day, gave her two dropper fulls in a shot glass of orange juice, she reported back “Feeling better, LOL” and when I stopped by to check on her, she was napping haha. I’d say this is a success and will be making another batch next harvest. Still have 3 oz of Green Dragon Left! A little will go a long way!
There is a nice medicinal quality to the tincture. It’s subtle and can often provide relief without becoming psychoactive. You can probably get better medicinal relief spreading out the dosage throughout the day. But it is nice having the “nuclear” option when having a bad day.
9 Days ago…“I’ll mix up some brownie batter while I’m waiting for decarb to happen”. Well, I made the brownies (using tincture) first, ate 1, and then decarbed. That’s as far as I got that day .
If anyone is looking for something that REALLY covers the taste of the green dragon, 1 shot glass full of this cherry juice covers it.
That looks yummy!
Im in the process of making my next batch of green dragon from my first harvest. Its pretty obvious from the samples Ive tried so far, that my home grown weed is a good bit more potent than the store bought stuff I used last time.
Im having an issue with my latest Green Dragon batch.
I just harvested a bit under 15 oz of bud, dried it in the oven at 180 deg for 2 hrs, then de-carbed at 250 for 40 minutes. The bud was very dry. The bud was separated into two batches - one Northern lights and one Critical CBD. I soaked them in separate jars in 1/2 of a 1.75 ltr bottle of 190 proof Ever Clear.
Then I put both in a double boiler for several hours (at least 5 hours) until the volume was reduced to aprox 1/2-3/4 cup of liquid in each jar. I then added 2 cups of coconut oil to each jar.
I did not reduce it all the way to oil before adding the coconut oil this time because it took forever to dissolve the RSO in the coconut oil last time.
After adding the coconut oil, and continuing with the double boiler for another hour, I let the water boil out of the double boiler and continued to cook the liquid for another 2 hours until the level stopped going down in the jars. The temp of the liquid never got above 190 deg F.
Anyway, here is the problem. After sitting in the fridge over nite, the coconut oil has solidified, but there is still a ton of liquid mixed in. It looks like one of those honey comb candles thats full of green liquid!
Im not sure how to tell if thats water or alcohol, or if I need to keep boiling off alcohol or what. I dont dare taste it…
It just occurred to me I could see if the liquid will burn… will test that later outside.
Edit: It does not light on fire, so its not pure alcohol left over. I added lecithin to the coconut oil, but maybe the water in the mix is separating out?
It sounds like you still have Green Dragon in there. The tempereature not going above 190°F is an indication that there is still water and you need to get it above 220°F to boil out the water. One thing I find that helps is to keep a bamboo skewer in the container, this helps break surface tension. Apply a bit more heat and watch the temperature. Once the water boils out, the temperature will start to suddenly rise above 220°F. Keep it below 240°F and you will be good.
That sounds like a good idea. Two of the main differences between this time and last was the containers I used and the amount of alcohol. The first time, I used less than 1/2 this amount of EverClear, which will take twice as long to evaporate. On top of that, I used taller, narrower containers - mason jars as opposed to a low wide baking dish. The dish had many times more surface area for the evaporation to occur, so that would slow things even more.
Will re-reduce and see…
The very short drying time has me wondering if water was trapped inside the product.
Normally, drying herb takes 8-10 days depending on RH.
